Super God-Level Top Student

Chapter 131: Chain Reaction (Requesting Monthly Votes)

At the same time, in the same scene, Roth Dugan wasn't the only one feeling discontent with his students.

Listning to the excited, almost incoherent voice on the other end of the phone, Xu Dajiang was wondering why on earth he thought it was a good idea to take in such a creature under his wing. He even had the nerve to lecture Newton... Xu Dajiang was now seriously considering sending Liu Chenfeng to give lectures to Newton himself.

One of Princeton's big shots had his heart set on his prize student, and Liu Chenfeng not only spoke with such excitement but also left his sentences hanging, showing no respect for his teachers at all.

Honestly, for a second there, Xu Dajiang had the mind to expel Liu Chenfeng from the School of Mathematics.

Fortunately, it seemed the kid on the other end sensed his annoyance, or perhaps Liu Chenfeng knew better than to pause mid-sentence. Xu Dajiang heard a clear breath being taken before the fellow continued, "Who would have thought the Young Boss would refuse without a second thought, not even bothering to give Professor Dugan a reason."

"Not only that, the Young Boss even turned around and invited Professor Dugan to teach at our Xi Lin Mathematics Institute. Of course, Professor Dugan declined, but don't worry, boss, the Young Boss never mentioned replacing you. He still respects you," Liu Chenfeng continued.

"Alright, alright, even if he were willing to come, so what if I gave him my position as dean? I'm afraid the responsibilities he'd have here as dean would be different from those at Princeton, and he might not be accustomed to them. Am I even clinging to this position? Get to the point—is this to say that Qiao Ze's project is about to be concluded?" Xu Dajiang said irritably.

His words were genuine indeed.

But then again, as a maths titan like Roth Dugan, being the dean at Princeton Mathematics Institute isn't as tiring as it is for Xu Dajiang.

After all, this little old man doesn't need to give face to anyone.

He can simply send his spirit to attend meetings he doesn't wish to be at in person.

That's the difference between a private university and a public one.

The university's trustees even hope to showcase a big name like Roth Dugan to attract more quality students; naturally, they're more tolerant of the old man's whims.

Of course, this tolerance goes both ways. If a professor's strictness incites student outrage, the university could very well fire them on the spot.

For instance, Maitland Jones, a top chemist at New York University Chemistry Department, was dismissed right where he stood because a group of students thought his classes were too difficult, which affected their grades. After the final exams, nearly one-third of the more than three hundred students filed a collective complaint, and the university let the old professor go.

There's no helping it; to a private university, every student is a god of wealth.

Fortunately, such a problem is unlikely to occur at the Princeton Mathematics Institute.

After all, not many students studying mathematics at Princeton stick with their major into their sophomore year, so it's hard to muster enough people to create such an uproar. Everyone is already used to the School of Mathematics graduating only about twenty or so students each year.

So if given a choice, Xu Dajiang would seriously like to swap deanships with Roth Dugan.

...

"Speaking of which, I've just had a talk with the Young Boss. I told him to start a new project as soon as he concludes this one. He was worried that the institute wouldn't have the funds to support him, but I thought if he could produce results so quickly and even publish in the world's top journals, the school would find the money somehow, even if it meant selling their pots and pans.

Sure enough, I managed to persuade him. He's even thought of a topic for the new project," said Liu Chenfeng.

Hearing this, Xu Dajiang breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank goodness, Qiao Ze wanting to start a new project meant he truly didn't consider going to Princeton University for an exchange.

Although Xu Dajiang was well aware of Liu Chenfeng's ulterior motives, he couldn't be bothered to call him out on it just yet.

After all, the kid was his student, and it was only right to leave him some dignity.

"Well done, you did a good job persuading him. Anything else from Qiao Ze?" Xu Dajiang asked.

"Um... He didn't say much else. But..." Liu Chenfeng hesitated.

"But what? Stop beating around the bush," Xu Dajiang said impatiently.

"Er, for some reason, Qiao Ze always seems to think you're pretty free, and he said it's good to have you as my advisor since I can come to you with problems I can't handle..." Liu Chenfeng trailed off.

"Liu Chenfeng? Are you truly forgetting who you are? You've issues you can't handle, and you expect me to help? Qiao Ze might say that, but you dare to agree?" Xu Dajiang retorted.

"Ha ha, boss, that's not what I meant..." Liu Chenfeng laughed nervously.

"What you mean? Don't I know already? Heh... So, feeling confident since you've become the third author on a top journal paper? Come to my office this afternoon; we need to discuss your thesis proposal!" Xu Dajiang said, cutting off the call abruptly.

He was genuinely upset...

But that shouldn't be the case!

Why would Qiao Ze think he had so much free time?

Before Xu Dajiang could figure it out, the school called him early in the morning.

"Xu, there's something I'd like your opinion on," the voice said.

"Yes, what is it? President Zheng?" Xu inquired.

"Apple Huaxia has suddenly reached out to the school with a proposal to donate a sum of money, around twenty million, to establish the Apple Qiuzhi Scholarship, primarily designed to reward students from the basic mathematics and physics classes who perform outstandingly," came the answer.

The intention was pretty clear.

Directly addressing the matter, Xu Dajiang asked, "Is this an unconditional donation?"

"Not entirely without conditions. They want to meet with Qiao Ze. Your student from the School of Mathematics is really worth something these days. They're prepared to shell out twenty million just to meet him," the voice clarified.

"How will the donation be made? In one lump sum?" Xu Dajiang went on to ask.

"You wish. It's just an intention for now. However, they've submitted a plan, which involves setting up a Qiuzhi Scholarship fund at the school for us to manage together, initially injecting five million and continuing that over four years. After the four years are up, subsequent contributions will depend on the fund's operation and distribution performance.

The headmaster asked me to get your School of Mathematics's opinion on this first."
