Zheng Yan had originally only planned to check out the site where they had previously been robbed by an Angel, but he hadn’t expected to actually encounter the robbing Angel there.

“Oh, so you mean to say you’re here to deliver a message. Speak, then—what are your terms?” Tian Xin looked at Zheng Yan with a smirk that was not quite a smile.

“How could I dare make demands in the presence of an Angel, Lord?” Zheng Yan said with the utmost respect.

“Don’t worry, if you guide me, then we are friends, and friends naturally help each other out and share in wealth and honor. Speak, what are your terms, or rather, what do you want?” The smile on Tian Xin’s face grew even more pronounced.

“I purely wish to make friends with the Angel, Lord, without any other requests. If the Angel, Lord, harvests too much and cannot carry it all, I would be forever grateful if you would bestow the leftovers upon me,” Zheng Yan said, bowing his head.

“I do enjoy making friends with people like you. Rest assured that if what you say is true, you will certainly not lack rewards,” Tian Xin promised.

“I am most grateful, then,” Zheng Yan responded with an affected air of being flattered and continued, “Angel, Lord, we can remain friends forever, can’t we?”

“Of course.”

“In that case, I beseech the Angel, Lord, not to reveal our relationship, or else I will no longer be able to provide you with intelligence, which would be a betrayal of our long-lasting friendship,” Zheng Yan said.

“Haha.” Tian Xin laughed heartily. “Rest easy. You leave on your own first, and I will surreptitiously follow. Once we arrive, simply signal to me, and don’t worry about anything else.”

“Thank you for your favor, Angel, Lord. In this life and the next, I am your friend,” Zheng Yan said, bending at the waist and bowing deeply until he touched the ground.

Zheng Yan thought he had covered his tracks flawlessly, not realizing that his despicable behavior had already been scorned by people across the world.

Because of the lack of information, Zheng Yan couldn’t deduce the current situation as accurately as Lin Shen had; he assumed that the so-called Observers must definitely be extraterrestrials.

What did it matter to him if the extraterrestrials saw what he was doing? It had no impact on him whatsoever.

He never imagined that the Realm King Cultivation Device had accidentally fallen and that there were, in fact, no Observers left.

Of course, even Lin Shen had not anticipated that their images would be broadcasted worldwide; much less could Zheng Yan have considered it.

Zheng Yan even suspected that the supposed Observer was none other than this Angel; making a deal with the Angel was like dealing with the Observer.

Zheng Yan had calculated well, but he didn’t anticipate that his vile face had already been witnessed by countless people around the world, and the Lu Family’s reaction to his actions was one of extreme displeasure.

Zheng Yan hadn’t expected his plan to go so smoothly. Originally, he had thought of luring the Angel alone to rob Lin Shen, without alerting Lu Qing and the others.

But now that he had already made arrangements with the Angel, he thought that if he returned alone, people might suspect something, so it was better to come up with an excuse to go back with Lu Qing and the others.

He could avoid suspicion for leading the robbing Angel to them and also allow Lu Qing to witness Lin Shen’s distress from being robbed.

With this in mind, Zheng Yan exchanged a few more words with Tian Xin and then left on his own.

As he approached the area where Lu Qing and the others were hunting, Zheng Yan pretended to be panicked and said in a hushed tone, “Lu Qing, we must leave this place quickly. There is a very terrifying Base Variant Creature nearby, and if we startle it, none of us will survive.”

After Xu Tiange and Lu Qing took their leave, Lin Shen and Wei Wufu sat down under a tree to rest.

Feeling a bit hungry, Lin Shen took out the water bag containing the Mutant Sea Demon God General Base Mutation Fluid and gulped down two mouthfuls.

Simply to stave off hunger, ordinary Base Mutation Fluid would suffice. Logically, given Lin Shen’s current condition, the Mutated Base Mutation Fluid should not be of much use.

Unfortunately, Lin Shen had a habit, whenever he ate, he always started with the best stuff—whatever tasted good, he ate first; whatever he liked, he ate first.

Because of this habit, he had been scolded by his eldest sister when he was younger.

At that time, Lin Shen had given his sister an example, and after that, she never again criticised him for this habit.

The story Lin Shen told was actually quite ordinary; it was about an elderly man who, after buying apples, would always eat those with some defects first. As a result, the good apples that were left ended up being stored for too long, and after a while, some of them would start to spoil.

Therefore, the old man only ever got to eat the flawed apples and never got to taste the best and freshest ones.

Of course, the example was different from Lin Shen’s current situation, but it didn’t stop him from drinking the best Base Mutation Fluid.

After ingesting two mouthfuls of Base Mutation Fluid, Lin Shen immediately felt as if two fireballs had slid down his throat to his stomach and then spread throughout his body.

Lin Shen suddenly felt as if there was a furnace burning inside him; his sweat drenched his clothes in an instant.

He was only at Steel Level, and the energy contained in the Mutated Crystal Base Base Mutation Fluid was simply too overwhelming, making him feel as if he could hardly bear it.

Fortunately, Evolution Theory kicked in once again, using the energy from the Mutated Base Mutation Fluid to constantly refine his flesh, strengthening and mutating it until he was soon able to adapt to the scorching sensation.

“Absorbing Mutant Sea Demon God General Base Mutation Fluid… Base Mutation Rate +1…”

The message that vibrated on his watch made Lin Shen pause momentarily.

He had originally thought that he would need to find a Super-Base Creature to increase his Base Mutation Fluid, but it seemed that was not the case.

He checked the information on his watch, and indeed, his Base Mutation Rate had become 1%.

“I’ve used Mutated Base Mutation Fluid before, so why didn’t my Base Mutation Rate increase then? Could it be that I wasn’t at a high enough level and needed the Mutated Crystal Base Base Mutation Fluid?” Lin Shen couldn’t figure it out for the moment.

An increase in the Base Mutation Rate was, after all, a good thing, so Lin Shen continued to drink the Mutant Sea Demon God General’s Base Mutation Fluid mouthful after mouthful.

Initially, his Base Mutation Rate did increase somewhat, but the increase in Base Mutation Fluid slowed down more and more. Eventually, after the Base Mutation Fluid he consumed no longer caused a burning sensation in his body, it ceased to increase his Base Mutation Rate altogether.

Lin Shen checked and found that his Base Mutation Rate had reached 5%, and the remaining Mutant Sea Demon God General Base Mutation Fluid was less than one-tenth.

Lin Shen decided to gulp down the rest, but it still did not increase his Base Mutation Rate at all.

“Could it be that my Base Mutation Rate was able to increase because it’s linked to the effects of Evolution Theory? Otherwise, why would my Base Mutation Rate stop increasing once Evolution Theory ceased to function?” Lin Shen took out some Gold Armored Sea Demon Base Mutation Fluid to test his theory.

It was possibly because the Gold Armored Sea Demon Base Mutation Fluid was the same Attribute as the Mutant Sea Demon God General’s Base Mutation Fluid, completely unable to stimulate Lin Shen’s body to activate Evolution Theory anymore.

Lin Shen then remembered the Poison Mushroom Beast Base Mutation Fluid he had collected before; he didn’t know if it was mutated or not, but he decided to try drinking it first.
