Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Conquering Flame Planet
Storm Star Spaceport.
The Storm came to a slow halt in the port, and a beam of light descended. Feng Mo stepped out onto the spaceport platform, clad in his T3 Black Obsidian Battle Armor, with his black mask hiding the cold glint in his eyes as he surveyed the battlefield littered with corpses.
Behind him, Ai Er, a battle-hardened veteran, was unfazed by the carnage. Her light blue combat suit accentuated her curvaceous figure, and her mental energy actively enveloped them both, forming a protective shield.
"Ai Er, contact all fleet captains. We'll meet at headquarters in two hours. Also, send a team to check the T3 White Eagle's bridge. If anyone survived, bring them in," Feng Mo ordered.
"Yes, sir!" Ai Er responded, leading a squad armed with laser guns and ion cutters to slice through the armor and open the bridge door. After over an hour of hard work, they finally extracted a group of survivors. At the front was a large, tattooed man with a flame insignia on his neck—undoubtedly the Ninth Boss.
The prisoners were barely standing, many wounded and weak from the explosion that had nearly claimed their lives. As Feng Mo's mask retracted, his icy stare seemed to pierce right through the Ninth Boss, making him avert his gaze in fear.
"You seem quite defiant," Feng Mo remarked calmly.
The Ninth Boss spat on the ground and snarled, "Sneak attack—who'd accept that? Don't forget, I have seven older brothers. The Flame Raiders have over a thousand ships. You think you can win with this tiny fleet?"
Feng Mo shook his head, unimpressed by the bravado. He had no patience for further questioning. "Take them away. I'm sure the slaves will enjoy seeing them. Make sure they die. I don't want any loose ends."
With that, Feng Mo began walking leisurely out of the spaceport, Ai Er following close behind. Periodically, T3 Zircon-class mechs soared overhead, sending tremors of fear through the crowds who lay trembling on the ground.
Outside the port, Feng Mo found a maglev car and forcefully pried open the door. With a command to Little Y to hack the car's network, the vehicle gently lifted into the air and sped toward the Flame Raiders' headquarters.
Arriving at the massive, fortress-like structure, Feng Mo couldn't help but grimace. "Typical bandits. No sense of aesthetics," he muttered. The fortress was more for show than anything else—any T2 starship could obliterate it with a single laser blast. The Flame Raiders lived rough, unrefined lives, and it showed.
Feng Mo entered the imposing fortress and headed to the control room. There, he found a scantily-clad, seductive woman—the infamous Sixth Madam that the Ninth Boss had lusted after.
The woman seemed startled but quickly composed herself. With a sultry smile, she slid her shoulder straps down to reveal more skin. Feng Mo's expression remained cold as he asked, "Who are you, or rather, whose woman are you?"
Realizing her allure had no effect, she sighed and replied softly, "My name is Xiao Jiao. I was with the Sixth Boss, but when he died fighting a mysterious fleet, the Ninth Boss forced me into submission. I had no choice."
Feng Mo's face twitched slightly. Both of this woman's lovers had been killed by him. What a strange coincidence. He couldn't help but feel a bit guilty, but he knew he had to eliminate her. Xiao Jiao's eyes, though seemingly innocent, gleamed with cunning.
When Feng Mo and Ai Er had entered the room, he had detected a fleeting murderous intent in her gaze. His honed senses as a Level 2 Gene Warrior picked up even the smallest details.
Gesturing subtly to Ai Er, who had grown attuned to his cues over the past year, Feng Mo signaled his intentions. Ai Er nodded and addressed the woman. "Miss, the Storm Fleet has taken over this area. Please follow me to your temporary quarters."
Xiao Jiao's shoulders relaxed, and she shot a coquettish glance at Feng Mo before obediently following Ai Er out. Two and a half minutes later, Ai Er returned alone, signaling that the task was complete.
"Commander, I've drafted a plan for developing Storm Star. Please review it and let me know if any changes are needed," Ai Er said, projecting a 3D hologram from her terminal.
Feng Mo studied the detailed proposal. It featured a massive, pale blue energy dome—a protective shield that could simulate seasons, control rainfall, maintain a constant temperature, and fend off natural disasters. Under this dome, Ai Er had planned for 120 large cities, with an initial focus on developing 60 to accommodate the current five-billion-strong population.
The cities were meticulously designed with infrastructure that promised high livability, including transportation, utilities, commercial hubs, technology centers, and lush green spaces. Industrial, residential, and commercial zones were carefully delineated, and Feng Mo was impressed by Ai Er's thoroughness.
"You've done an excellent job, Ai Er," he praised, "but the plan is a bit conservative. Storm Star isn't as large as Celestial Cloud Prime, but it can sustain a population of up to 20 billion. Still, we shouldn't push it too far. Let's start with
a target of 5 billion and expand as needed."
