Star vs. the Forces of Evil : Marco Diaz The Conquest Devil

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Better Understanding of a Devil's Power and Dimension X-103 (2)

Narrator's POV

A few weeks have passed since Marco's arrival in dimension X-103.

*throat clear*

"Honestly, I'm wondering if you're a devil or a vampire," Hekapoo declares, slightly furrowing her brow at Marco's actions.

During this period with Hekapoo, Marco hasn't seriously sought out the scattered clones in dimension X-103.

He was content with hunting local creatures without killing them, unless necessary.

Of course, the term "hunt" would be too gentle to truly describe Marco's actions; it would be more reasonable to use the word "intimidate".

He finds a creature, confronts it, and if he wins, Marco severely wounds it before drinking its blood and letting it go, humiliated by its defeat.

This treatment was suffered by all creatures in the dimension unfortunate enough to cross Marco's path, except Hekapoo.

'The concept of domination, conquest, and control is omnipresent in this jungle... my strength has clearly increased since my arrival.'

Marco knew that once back on Earth, he would lose all physical changes, like his abs or muscles.

So he decided to focus on making his name and concepts related to conquest sufficiently terrifying to gain power.

For the moment , his plan has worked since he's clearly become stronger than before.

"I'm telling you, I'm not really a vampire, but drinking blood or eating flesh helps me heal," Marco says without mentioning that he also gets stronger as a bonus.

This information might make Hekapoo and The Magic High Commission aware of his infinite potential.

"I see that, but it wasn't really necessary to humiliate the natives after your victory. You risk angering their guardian spirits or even their gods."

Despite Hekapoo's warning, Marco simply shrugged and continued drinking the blood of the dark-skinned indigenous woman in his arms.

Yes, Marco doesn't drink blood from humanoid males. He finds that just too... gay.

"Okay, I'm satisfied for today. Now we can search for your clones," Marco declared, visibly in a good mood after a good fight and a good meal.

"You'll see 'Bloody Smile' *cough*, our guardian goddess and our chief will avenge us!" mumbled the young warrior, from whose neck Marco had sucked the blood.

'Bloody Smile' is the title the region's natives have given to Marco.

He tried to persuade them to find something else, but without success.

"Oh, a goddess? I wonder what she'll taste like," Marco responded with a frightening smile, blood still around his mouth.

Without knowing it, his tastes had radically changed since his reincarnation.

In the *Chainsaw Man* universe, devils don't hunt humans out of pure cruelty, but out of necessity: it's a vital need for their evolution.

The more blood they drink and flesh they consume, the more powerful they become.

There's also the fact that they find human flesh and blood particularly delicious.

Thus, Marco had become somewhat addicted to "intimidating" his prey before consuming their blood.

"I warned you: you attacked natives under a goddess's protection, hehe ~," Hekapoo's voice doesn't hide her mocking tone.

It was clear to anyone that she wanted to see Marco receive a little lesson.

'He clearly has good potential, but his reckless side might cost him dearly in the future,' Hekapoo thought, licking her lips coquettishly while observing Marco's back.

Hekapoo couldn't deny that she enormously appreciated Marco's reckless and wild side, but...

'He's not yet mature enough to play the bad boy and assume the consequences afterwards ~' She concluded that she should try to repair the damage left by Marco by negotiating compensation for the local natives with the Magic High Commission.

After all, it's partly her fault that Marco is in their territory.

While she had sadistic and not very Catholic thoughts about him, Marco felt a shiver, as if under the surveillance of a dangerous predator.

An unknown feeling for him since his reincarnation.

….

(Indigenous Village)

"Chief... again this time." A dark-skinned young man with tribal tattoos pointed to their leader a young unconscious girl, accompanied by several tribal young warriors.

*Crack*

"That's enough!!!" After breaking and throwing his royal scepter in anger, the man identified as the tribal chief stood up from his throne, decorated with various creature skulls.

"This creature hunts without respect, our prey migrate elsewhere, famine sets in, and our warriors are humiliated every day.... When..." the tribal chief gritted his teeth before continuing.

"When they go to find food and return stripped of their dignity!" The tribal chief expressed his frustration, slowly advancing towards the young warrior whose blood Marco had consumed before leaving.

"Now, he consumes the blood of our young warriors during their coming of age ceremony... my poor daughter."

After these words, the man tenderly embraced the young girl before standing up straight.

His eyes, previously filled with rage, now expressed infinite resolution.

"Prepare our best hunting dogs and our most experienced veteran warriors. We will invoke Lady Brunzetta." These words from the chief provoked murmurs and whispers among the elders.

"I understand your grief. Your daughter has lost her warrior's honor since she failed the ceremony. But... I think I speak for everyone in saying that invoking Lady Brunzetta is... an extreme method." The voice of the elder's representative was followed by approving nods.

"I'm not asking for your opinion, I order that Lady Brunzetta be invoked! Let our warriors and warriors stand ready, for tonight... we hunt!!!" he shouted, raising his fetish axe, an imitation of their guardian goddess Brunzetta's.

Cheers and war cries rang out following the chief's words.

"After tonight, this forest will have only one leader," he muttered, more to himself than to anyone in particular.

...

"Interesting..." Sitting on a tree branch, Marco occasionally nodded with a satisfied expression.

"Stop being the mysterious guy! What's happening?" Hekapoo finally lost patience waiting for Marco under the tree.

"Sorry, I was pleasantly surprised to find one of yours. But also, there's a lot of fresh blood tracking me right now," Marco explained, visibly in a good mood, before landing on the ground next to Hekapoo.

Marco hadn't just intimidated the forest creatures. He had also subjugated a large number of them, particularly crow-like birds and mice.

He didn't want to waste time tracking his prey by scanning the ground for random clues.

Thanks to his new subjects, Marco could see and hear many things in the forest.

"No wonder Makima seems to have her head elsewhere 24/7 in the Chainsaw Man manga," he thought. In his case, he hadn't really been able to exploit this ability due to his inexperience in controlling information flow.

Moreover, some animals possessed much sharper senses than his. It quickly became dizzying to switch between viewpoints of different rodent and bird species.

"Fresh blood, you say?" Hekapoo remained confused by Marco's words before her expression changed once she understood.

"They came to take revenge much earlier than I thought," she said, trying to maintain a confident tone. But Hekapoo knew the situation was serious.

"I wanted to negotiate with them to avoid them punishing Marco too severely. But given the situation, their tribe must really be crazy with rage," she thought, looking up at the sky tinted red by the twilight.

Night was a particularly dangerous time in the forest, but the natives had chosen to attack at this precise moment, ignoring the dangers.

This showed just how furious... and confident they were in their skills.
