Chapter 35: Weapons Are Forbidden
Chapter 35: Weapons Are Forbidden
Even though Su Mo knew that Ning Rongrong was about to face some harsh criticism, he had no intention of stepping in to stop it. While Ning Rongrong's spoiled and willful behavior made her stand out and gave her a distinct personality, which could be amusing from an observer's point of view, dealing with such a temperamental young lady in real life would be intolerable for anyone.
So, Su Mo wasn't going to interfere with Flender's attempt to temper Ning Rongrong's attitude. However, he did feel that it was necessary to step in at some point to ensure she wasn't overly broken down.
In the original story, Ning Rongrong was hit too hard, and it went too far, shattering her pride to the point where her fiery personality was completely extinguished.
As a result, over time, the once vibrant and bold Ning Rongrong gradually faded away.
...
By the time the evening gathering arrived, Flender wasted no time calling out Ning Rongrong for slacking off and not completing the 20 laps.
Flender, ignoring her embarrassed expression, spoke firmly, "Now, I'm giving you two choices. One, pack your things and leave immediately. You don't deserve to be here. Or two, prove to me that you have what it takes to stay, and that you're determined not to break the rules again."
"Flender, who do you think you are? You're just a lowly Soul Sage."
"Think you can kick me out? It's not going to be that easy. Since I'm here, I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. Flender, you better mind your own business. Otherwise, the consequences won't be something you can handle."
"Flender, how dare you!"
"I've never met anyone who dared to treat me this way in my entire life."
Confronted with Flender's challenge, Ning Rongrong finally revealed her true spoiled and arrogant nature in front of everyone.
Tang San, Xiao Wu, and the others were completely shocked. They couldn't believe that the gentle-seeming girl could say something like that.
At this moment, all traces of gentleness had vanished from Ning Rongrong's face, replaced by a look of disdain and superiority.
Even Oscar, who had already learned some of Ning Rongrong's true nature from their running session, was still stunned by how far she dared to go in confronting Flender.
Su Mo, on the other hand, wasn't particularly surprised. He had known about her personality for a long time.
"Your father may not have the heart to discipline you, but that doesn't mean I won't. You're not my daughter…"
Flender then launched into a full-on tirade against Ning Rongrong, criticizing her from every angle—her personality, her abilities—tearing her down completely.
He even went as far as to say that Ning Rongrong was the weakest among all the students.
Then, Flender praised Dai Mubai, Tang San, Xiao Wu, Ma Hongjun, Zhu Zhuqing, and even Su Mo: "And Su Mo—although his soul power is only at level 22, his combat strength is by no means weak. Even Dai Mubai isn't his match!"
This unexpected comparison left Dai Mubai, who had been quietly watching from the sidelines, feeling uncomfortable.
Hearing this, Tang San, Xiao Wu, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar all turned to look at Su Mo. They had already heard about how he had defeated Dai Mubai, but it was still hard to believe.
"What about Oscar?"
Faced with Flender's praise for everyone else, Ning Rongrong, unable to refute his words, turned her focus to Oscar, who was being punished with extra running.
As expected, when Flender revealed that Oscar was born with innate full soul power, Ning Rongrong was completely devastated. It was as if she really was the weakest among the Shrek students.
"Waaaah…"
Completely crushed, Ning Rongrong burst into tears and ran off.
Everyone was left glancing at each other, unsure how to react.
Though Ning Rongrong's attitude had been terrible, Flender's words had been too harsh, reducing her to tears.
"Dean, should I help her pack her things?" Dai Mubai asked cautiously.
"Pack what? Do you really want her to leave?"
"Ning Rongrong may be spoiled and willful, but her nature isn't bad. She's just been pampered too much. Let her think it over for herself!"
"Go tell Oscar that his punishment is lifted. Have him go comfort Ning Rongrong. We need to get ready to depart!"
Flender shot Dai Mubai a glare before speaking.
"Yes, Dean, I'll go right away!"
Dai Mubai responded promptly, clearly relieved. He didn't want Ning Rongrong to leave either.
"We'll wait for Dai Mubai, and then head to Soto City!"
"Your first lesson will take place in Soto City!"
After Dai Mubai ran off to inform Oscar, Flender turned to Su Mo and the others.
No one had any objections, so they waited in place for Dai Mubai to return.
…
"Dean, I've informed Oscar!"
Dai Mubai returned quickly.
"Good, let's head out then!"
Flender nodded and led the group toward Soto City.
"The place I'm taking you to today is actually the Great Spirit Arena of Soto City!"
"Dai Mubai, explain it to the newcomers."
On the way, Flender revealed the focus of the lesson and asked Dai Mubai to introduce the Great Spirit Arena.
Dai Mubai, of course, didn't refuse and began explaining the details of the Great Spirit Arena to Su Mo and the others.
"Oh, so it's a fight! That's great!"
Upon realizing what was ahead, Xiao Wu grew excited, itching for action.
"Isn't it dangerous?"
Tang San, however, immediately thought of potential dangers.
Dai Mubai explained that there were two types of matches in the Great Spirit Arena: sparring matches, which weren't too dangerous, and life-and-death battles, which were much more perilous. They would only participate in the sparring matches.
"By the way, Su Mo!"
At the front, Flender suddenly remembered something and called out to Su Mo.
"Dean, what is it?"
Su Mo looked toward Flender.
"It's like this: I'm having you participate in the Great Spirit Arena to train your combat skills. But you won't be using your Xuan Iron Spear. If you did, most of your opponents at the Grand Spirit Master level wouldn't stand a chance, and that wouldn't help you improve much."
"And Tang San, the same goes for you. You're going there to practice controlling your martial spirit. Don't use those weapons you call hidden weapons for now either."
Flender quickly made it clear—Su Mo was forbidden from using his martial spirit fusion with the Xuan Iron Spear, and Tang San was prohibited from using his hidden weapons.
"No problem!"
Su Mo agreed, wanting to gain more combat experience. If he used the Xuan Iron Spear, it would be too easy for him.
"Yes, Dean!"
Tang San also agreed without issue.
About half an hour later, they arrived at Soto City and quickly made their way to the Great Spirit Arena.
With Dai Mubai's guidance, Su Mo, Tang San, and Xiao Wu completed their registrations.
Su Mo was soon up for his first match.
Su Mo vs. Xiao Wu.
