Chapter 31: A Day of Leisure, Listening to Music

Du Qianjue felt a bit embarrassed. Had he been seen flying around like that?

"Yes, I just came back and saw someone soaring freely in the sky..." Xue Linglong said softly.

"Oh no, my dignity!" Du Qianjue slapped his forehead.

"Pfft..."

Xue Linglong chuckled, her beautiful eyes full of amusement.

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about. The desire to fly is a natural wish for every living being on the ground. It's completely normal." She walked over to Du Qianjue, took his hand, and said gently.

"The first time I could fly, I spent a long time in the sky before coming down."

"Really?" Du Qianjue asked, a bit doubtful. Could ice and snow spirits have such emotions?

"Of course. Spirits are living beings too! Why can't I have some feelings?" Xue Linglong rolled her eyes, looking charming and graceful.

Xue Linglong felt a bit helpless. Why did it seem like Du Qianjue had some strange ideas in his head? He seemed to know everything, as if he had everything under control, but such a common-sense issue seemed incredibly complex to him.

To him, did spirits seem to be emotionless beings without any desires?

Actually, this was because of Du Qianjue's preconceived notions. The powerful image of the Snow Empress from the original story was too deeply ingrained in his mind. Except for the time when she lost her memory and became cute after merging into a spirit soul, she was always depicted as an emperor with an aura of supremacy.

How could he know about the Snow Empress's childhood? So, it wasn't hard to understand why he didn't have this impression.

"Alright, I'm relieved. As long as it's not embarrassing!" Du Qianjue laughed. There were no supernatural abilities on Earth, and he had always wanted to fly. Being carried around by Du Bushi and the others was never as exhilarating as flying by himself. Once he started, he couldn't help but lose himself in the joy.

Otherwise, why is there a term called "letting oneself go"?

"Did your tribulation go smoothly?" Holding Xue Linglong's hand, they sat on the swing, and Du Qianjue played with her silver hair.

A white hair fan's delight!

The swing was something Du Qianjue had asked Du Bushi to help build. It had been there for several years, and he would often sit on it, lost in thought.

"Yes, it went very smoothly. My cultivation level has now reached 800,000 years," Xue Linglong said as she leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder.

"800,000 years?" Du Qianjue was shocked. He had thought the Snow Empress would only go through the 700,000-year tribulation. Unexpectedly, she had gone through two tribulations in one go, directly catching up to Di Tian!

"Yes, I have to thank you for those Ten-Thousand-Year Cold Ice Marrows. Without them, I might not have even survived." Xue Linglong hugged Du Qianjue a bit tighter.

"No need to thank me," Du Qianjue said gently.

"Okay... I understand..."

Xue Linglong nodded submissively.

The two fell silent, enjoying the moment of peace.

Before long, Xue Linglong noticed that Du Qianjue's breathing had become steady, and the hand that had been gently stroking her hair now rested on her waist.

"Are you asleep?" Xue Linglong blinked, finding it amusing.

But she didn't wake him up, instead choosing to remain in his embrace.

The sun slowly set, and the red sunset seemed to set the entire sky on fire.

Waking up from an afternoon nap, Du Qianjue opened his sleepy eyes, ready to stretch when he felt the weight on him.

Looking down, he saw Xue Linglong smiling up at him, her eyes full of affection.

"Xue'er, have you been here with me the whole time?" Du Qianjue asked, touching her cheek.

"Yes." Xue Linglong nodded, closing her eyes and resting her head back on his shoulder.

Du Bushi entered just in time to see this scene, his face contorting in exaggerated disgust as he looked at the couple with a significant age difference.

"I should be outside, not in here," Du Bushi said suddenly, startling Du Qianjue.

"When did you get here, Granduncle?" Du Qianjue asked, feeling a bit frustrated.

Was Du Bushi everywhere?

"He was here a while ago, standing there for nearly a tea's time," Xue Linglong said without even lifting her head.

After becoming an 800,000-year soul beast, her strength had surpassed Du Bushi's. She was nearly at a demi-god level, so Du Bushi's presence couldn't escape her notice. She had just chosen to ignore him.

"Uh... Granduncle, what do you need from me?" Du Qianjue asked, grinding his teeth. That familiar feeling of dental pain was back!

"Can't I come to you without a reason? Am I not your granduncle anymore?" Du Bushi retorted, his expression twisted.

"If you have something to say, just say it!" Xue Linglong instantly reverted to her Snow Empress demeanor, her voice sharp.

Cough, cough, cough...

Du Bushi choked on his saliva, almost forgetting that this Snow Empress was only docile in front of Du Qianjue. To him, she was still the powerful Snow Empress!

"What's your next plan?" Du Bushi asked Du Qianjue.

Since his spirit awakening, Du Qianjue had always had precise goals, knowing exactly what he wanted to do at each step.

Du Bushi was very curious about Du Qianjue's next target or plan after the Ten-Thousand-Year Cold Ice Marrow.

He had to admit, following Du Qianjue to seek opportunities was incredibly satisfying. Du Bushi was almost addicted to the thrill of collecting rare treasures. It was simply exhilarating!

"Uh?" Du Bushi's question left Du Qianjue puzzled.

Next step? He wasn't sure.

Although the plot hadn't started yet, he had already messed up much of the future events. The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, the Extreme North, and the Ten-Thousand-Year Cold Ice Marrow were the opportunities he could get.

Who knew if the other items would appear now?

However...

"Granduncle, could you send someone to Star Luo City in the Star Luo Empire? There's something I want in the Starlight Auction House there," Du Qianjue said, his eyes gleaming.

The Soul-Devouring Carving Knife!

Other items might not be obtainable, but this one was definitely at the Starlight Auction House!

They had had the Soul-Devouring Carving Knife for a long time. If it hadn't always gone unsold, how could it still be available at such a low-level auction when the plot started, and for only 100,000 gold soul coins?

"What is it?" Du Bushi's interest was piqued.

"A carving knife! A carving knife severely underestimated and deeply despised by the world!"

Du Qianjue then explained the Soul-Devouring Carving Knife to Du Bushi, emphasizing its material—Living Metal!

"Oh? Little one, you even know about Living Metal? You're making me more and more interested!" A voice echoed in Du Qianjue's mind.

Electrolux had awakened again!
