Chapter 162: Great War
"Sir, Keres and Thanatos had deserted us, they joined Atlas with their underlings, almost a third of our demigods and lesser gods had joined them," A woman reported to the man that Sol had met before.
The man that called himself Hades was actually Pluto, the God of the underworld and the death.
The carefree man did not show any of his usual nonchalant attitudes, he seriously looked at the table in front of him.
It was a map of the area, Pluto was looking at the current condition of the war, he conjured two more miniatures on the Titan's camp.
"To think that they deserted me at the last moment, this is really troublesome," Pluto lamented.
"Sir, why don't we open the gate of the underworld? Keres and Thanatos are two of the strongest gods in the underworld, if we don't do something then they will massacre us."
"Are you doubting me?" the temperature suddenly dropped and the room shooked for a bit before stopping.
"I'm not opening the gate, that is exactly what they want." Pluto rebuked the woman.
"But, the other Gods on the other side will stop them, They will help us stop Atlas and the traitors!"
"Do you think they will help us? They will help them instead! They will try to take over the underworld! I bet Jupiter had prepared someone to replace me as the ruler of the underworld," The man grimaced.
"Then what are we going to do? Are we going to let them take over the underworld? Keres and Thanatos wanted to take everything from you," she could not help but worry.
"Don't worry Atropos, I'm one of the strongest gods and the underworld is my domain, they would not be able to beat me in my own domain," he reassured her.
"I will believe you then," she conceded.
"By the way, What do you think about being a Major God?" Pluto asked her.
"Do you mean?" she looked wide-eyed at him.
"Yes, I mean, would you like to be the goddess of plague?" he pulled a black heart-like object out of nowhere.
Atropos was a minor God, she had dominion over fate along with two of her sisters, she could be said as at the top of the power chain even among gods.
In the underworld, only Pluto, the God of the underworld himself; Keres; and Thanatos could be said to be stronger than her.
If she were to get Apollo's domain, then her power would soar through the sky, fate and plague could be a deadly combination.
Fate is inevitable while the plague is incurable, with both power she might be able to beat Keres and Thanatos.
While Pluto was the god of the underworld and the death, he would not be able to beat Atlas with the brother-sister pair all alone, so he needed Atropos to help him.
Thanatos and Keres are brother and sister, the brother was the personification of death itself, he ruled over people's life and death.
Pluto was the ruler and the god of the death but Thanatos was death itself, some people might have thought they were one and the same but in actuality they were different.
Thanatos has always been the number two God in the underworld, He sided with Atlas as he wanted to take over as the ruler of the underworld.
On the other hand, Keres was the personification of violent death, battlefield, where people died in wars, was her domain, she could possibly be stronger than her brother in a war.
Both of them were a terrifying enemy to fight with, not even Pluto would take them half-heartedly.
As for the Titan, it would be a bigger problem, Atlas was among the strongest Titans, the gods could not kill them so they imprisoned him along with the other Titans.
Atropos took the offer, she absorbed the dominion over plague and her power started to increase wildly.
It would take her quite a bit before she could master the domain as it was a domain on the level of major God.
"Now, Atlas, what are you going to do next? Are you going to attack now?" the God of the underworld talked to himself.
He was still thinking when the whole building shook, Puto looked shocked to the north with wide eyes.
"They are here? How come I didn't notice?!" he mumbled.
"Enemy attack! Get ready for a fight! Everyone who can fight goes to the wall!" he could hear people shout.
"Atlas must have done something! Damn Titan! To think they could do a sneak attack in my domain..." He was troubled by the sudden change of situation.
Pluto thought they would have more time but it turned out the Titan had moved faster than he had expected.
On top of the wall, hundred of lesser Gods and minor Gods was dumbfounded as rather than an army, the attacker was three people.
Atlas, Keres, and Thanatos were standing side by side, they had come to take over the underworld just with the three of them.
To come faster and undetected, they had left the army behind, "They would not help much anyway," they thought.
"We could just kill Pluto and his army with the three of us," Atlas sneered.
The combined power of the three powerful gods and titan could overpower the army, that was just the disparity between their power.
"Thanatos, kill everyone who gets in the way, we don't need these weaklings disturbing us," Atlas told the man.
"You don't command me around, I'm not your underling!" the personification of death glared at the Titan of endurance.
"Just do it, remember our deal! You help me kill the damned guy and open the gate of the underworld and the underworld shall be yours!" the Titan reminded him.
"Fine, don't go back on your word!" he warned.
People on the wall were dumbfounded by their nonchalant behavior, they were about to fight hundreds of gods but they just chat there without a care.
"Attack, kill the traitor!" one of them shouted and all of them started to use their domain to attack the trio.
"How laughable!" Thanatos snorted as he tanked the damage for the other two, his body was torn to pieces, distorted, burned, decayed but he never died.
"How is this possible!?" the gods stopped their attack after a while as it did nothing to kill their opponent.
"I am death! How do you expect to kill me? Don't joke around!" he arrogantly said.
The man raised his hand and snapped his hand, it was not loud but everyone could hear the voice,
"Ack!" a man screamed could be heard on the wall.
Soon more screams appeared all around the wall, God's were dying left and right, they did not even know what happened.
Pluto ran out of the building when he saw the people were being slaughtered everywhere.
Different from the weaker Gods, Pluto could clearly see what happened, there were invisible beings that destroyed their souls.
They did not hurt their body but they very being, without the soul, their body was like a broken puppet.
"Thanatos!!! Stop bullying these people! If you dare fight me!" Pluto's voice boomed through the sky as he jumped and soar through the sky.
He could see the man responsible for the slaughter happening on the wall, Thanatos was grinning while he played music by snapping his finger.
"Thanatos! Fight me fair and square!" the god of the underworld challenges the personification of death.
"Do you think I'm stupid? Why should I fight you alone when I have help?" the man jeered at him.
"Pluto! Your life ends here!!" Atlas declares.
In the whole underworld, only the tItan would be brave enough to call the god of the underworld by his name, any other would fear to fall victim to the God's power.
Names have power, for creatures, their name could be used to dominate them, the holder of their real name could command them as they wish.
But for Pluto, anyone who called his name means they forfeit their soul to be his, the god could do anything with it.
Yet the Titan doesn't fear such power, not even the combined power of major Gods could kill him, they could only suppress him, the power carried by the name could not threaten the mighty Titan.
Atlas ran toward Pluto that was floating in the air, his body grew bigger with every step he took, the moment he reached the God, he was already as big as a mountain.
"Die!!!" The Titan's giant fist flies toward the God of the underworld.
Pluto did not flinch, he raised his palm as if about to catch the giant fist with his small hand.
To everyone's surprise, Pluto stopped the Titan's fist with ease, a booming sound resound as the punch got stopped dead on its track.
There was a crack in the space where the titan's fist got stopped but it soon healed itself.
"You can't beat me in my domain," Pluto grinned at the Titan.
"Maybe not if I'm alone, but I got help," the Titan grinned as Thanatos and Keres appeared beside Pluto.
