So, I'm a witch, so what?

Chapter 16: Reunion

{Kyouhaku - Yugo Kanno} - {JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE -Stardust Crusaders O.S.T [Departure]}

Seconds after we left the first chamber and ran into the beast realm, Vera and I realized something was off on the other side of the following door. Not only that, but Edwina and Nora were already free and on the other side of the hall, quickly running toward us, so we took our chances and went through the portal anyway.

"SHINE!" A knight screamed as soon as we went through the portal, but luckily for me, Vera sent the man flying across the room with a short, simple air spell, creating a slight air vortex. The delay of the attack was long enough for Edwina and Nora to catch up, though, so we wasted no more time and ran.

"Yoimiya! Can you lend me more MP?! I need some to get us out of here faster!" Vera screamed at me while we ran forward without looking behind us. The mere sound of the steps told us how close they were getting.

"I don't know how to do that!" I had to be honest with her, but I did not expect her next move as she grabbed my hand, making another floating screen appear before me.

[Do you wish to share 2,000 MP points? {Yes/No}]

The screen gave me two options, yes and no. Clearly, I picked yes, and suddenly, I felt a slightly harsh feeling like I was being sucked again, but not as bad as the first time Vera had done it. Vera immediately began to cast something, though.

"I'm the source of all power! Bend the laws of nature and allow me to manipulate the skies! FLY!" Vera gleaned bright for a few seconds and soon after lifted herself from the ground to pick me up like a carry-on handbag. It was embarrassing, but our speed nearly tripled with this strategy, allowing us to outrun the adults.

"How long can you fly with this?"

I ask Vera as we reach the prison exit, unaware of what awaits us. The sound of the bombardment was still active the whole time, so we assumed there was a fight still ongoing. Yet it would be better to be outside than stick around with Edwina and Nora.

"I can do it for about an hour, but I'm not sure flying out there is the best option. If I do that, I will be out of MP, and we still don't know what is going on."

Vera was right; if a fight existed, we would need as much stamina as possible. Getting her to tire out would be bad since she would be the only one experienced enough to fight. I was powerful based on my magic, but I still don't know how I even did all those attacks.

Seconds later, we finally reached the outside after busting through the last wooden door, revealing a burning forest. The forest was burning and covered in blood and countless soldier bodies, as well as many other witch bodies. Blood was spilled all over the place, triggering an anxiety attack.

Vera noticed how quickly I began to hyperventilate when I saw the blood and dead bodies. Yet her reaction made me feel more at ease as she talked to me through my whole attack, calming my nerves enough to not send me into another flashback train.

Vera stopped flying once we felt we were far enough from Nora and Edwina. Letting us rest briefly as a bright light fell from the skies. A silhouette appeared from within the shining light, revealing a much younger-looking Queen covered in a shiny, bright armor set that looked almost angelic.

The sky also turned from red to light green as the Queen quickly worked on the remaining soldiers within the dome. The Queen looked better than ever, and I would even go as far as to say she was hot. Naturally, Vera was a total fangirl of the Queen, praising her strength.

"I wish I could become as strong as her one day," Vera said while I still looked toward the direction Edwina and Nora would come from just in case they were still chasing after us, but I couldn't see them anywhere. I wonder if they chose to flee instead of fighting.

It didn't matter to me so long as they didn't pose a threat to us anymore. A sigh of relief leaves my mouth as I try to make sense of the current scenario. Some sort of army attacked the forest and took a heavy toll on it. That was all I could guess based on the amount of dead bodies and fires all over the place.

Yet the question of who or why wouldn't be able to be answered without external output, so I simply told Vera that we should try to find an adult that we could trust. Vera nodded at my suggestion and quickly looked around at the witches trying to extinguish some of the fires.

"I don't see anyone I could trust, do you, Yoi?"

I scanned the surrounding area, not seeing anyone I could say I knew until I spotted an old-looking hag. The same lady who had given me the pendant that was now blessed by a god. Lady Baba was still alive and kicking around, so I pointed at her.

"Baba over there. She was my neighbor and the one who gave me my pendant."

Vera looked at the hag for a few seconds and told me she didn't know her but would trust my judgment. I had no doubts Baba would help us, but more importantly, if anyone knew where Okina and Ariel were, it would probably be her. So we ran toward her, and she answered by almost impaling me with her sword.

"Yoimiya? You're alive?!" Baba smiled as she sheathed her blade back into place.

"Yes, but do you know anything about my mothers?!"

Baba didn't reply, but she pointed at a blazing fire near the city's center, making me assume the worst. Had they died? Why wasn't she saying anything?!

"Okina is dead, and Ariel is missing. They have been looking for you for the past three days."

My heart sank as Baba gave me the news; poor, sweet Vera tried to make me feel better, but I remained on the floor for a couple of minutes. There were too many emotions to process, but thanks to the Queen, we had time to talk peacefully as she fought an entire army for us.

The Queen was impressive as she dished out unimaginable combos, revealing how far away we were compared to her. It would be no exaggeration to say the distance between me and her was as massive as the size of an ant against a blue whale. The power gap was enormous.

The Queen could kill Edwina and Nora with a single breath if she wanted to. Yet she appeared tired as a massive pair of semi-translucent bells appeared on her back. Seconds later, a gigantic magical circle appeared near the edge of the dome, and a few moments later, everything went blindingly bright in the direction of the fight.
