Sky-cracking Rider

Chapter 206: Section 206 - Reinforcements are about to arrive

The hefty insect that had feasted in the farm had all its legs, severed by the spatial ability, regrown—though the new legs were somewhat thinner and shorter.

"A solitary, giant mutant—this thing can only be dealt with using a 2,000-pound Ground-Penetrating Thermobaric Bomb!"

Having reviewed the historical mission logs from the Aircrew Base 911, Chen Fei could roughly determine which weapons to use to successfully resolve various types of mutant disasters.

The combat unit of the ground-penetrating warhead, combined with the weight of the projectile itself, achieves physical penetration and breach; a second later, it disperses the air fuel and ignites it instantly, with high temperature and high pressure plus the depletion of oxygen. Any living being would find it unbearable.

Before this, the Federal Army in Red Rock State had been like a mouse in a bell jar, concerned with nearby economic district buildings and combat personnel, which is why they hadn't chosen such a mass destruction weapon.

Of course, if a 2,000-pound Thermobaric Bomb were to be dropped, not only would the mutant resembling a super-sized Qian Chuanzi be dead or severely injured, but Old David's airport would certainly be no more.

The destructive power of a 2,000-pound Thermobaric Bomb could easily level an airport, comparable to a miniature nuclear bomb.

Chen Fei really wished he had a 2,000-pound bomb to throw around for fun, but unfortunately, he didn't have one!

"7000 feet above the ground, open fire!"

Instructor Ramaya, who was closely monitoring the airspeed and altitude above ground, shouted.

He and Chen Fei both squeezed the trigger of the autocannon together.

The T-7C "Red Hawk" advanced trainer aircraft and the F-22 "Raptor" jet fighter both unleashed a dense barrage, enveloping the multi-legged monster insect on the ground.

An invisible barrier appeared out of thin air, its sparkles shimmering, blocking the rain of bullets descending from the sky.

"Attack ineffective, pull up!"

Instructor Ramaya made a decisive call.

He just wanted to give it a try to see if he could take advantage of the enemy's lack of preparedness and snatch an easy victory.

Now, it seemed that the giant insect on the ground wouldn't give them even the slightest chance.

"No choice then, we'll just have to harass it!"

Chen Fei felt helpless.

Although there were two large fuel tanks hanging under the wings of the aircraft, there were only two chances. Once dropped, the two jets would be left with nothing but their autocannons.

But the ammunition for the autocannons was so meager it wouldn't last long; no matter how conservative they were, they'd quickly run out.

The mutant on the ground looked up at the sky and sighed wistfully, the two fighter jets in the sky felt the same.

The T-7C "Red Hawk" and the F-22 "Raptor" climbed ahead of time.

The furiously agitated mutant indeed leaped up; however, given its massive size and mass, defying gravity was but a pipe dream.

Despite its many leg-like appendages resembling a Qian Chuanzi, they were quite useless—its so-called leaping was no more than laughable tiptoe jumps, reaching a mere three meters off the ground at best was already a thing to be grateful for.

The mutant, baring its fangs and brandishing its claws, took out its anger on everything it could see around it.

A wave of invisible force suddenly burst forth, and a long row of hangars near the apron collapsed as if sliced by a blade in unison with a thunderous crash.

"It's started demolishing buildings now, Instructor Ramaya, may I ask where the ammunition or fuel depot is?"

Chen Fei watched the mutant on the ground recklessly release what seemed to be a cutting force of spatial ability—sweeping through, buildings collapsed, leaving nothing unscathed.

This mutant became powerful only after devouring a Class-B spatial supernatural power user.

Doesn't this mean that this super-sized Qian Chuanzi preys on supernatural power users and can also acquire special ability genes—eesh! Such a conjecture is utterly terrifying!

"What do you mean?"

Before Instructor Ramaya could finish speaking, he had a moment of sudden enlightenment.

The firepower carried by the jet fighters was not enough, but there was plenty on the ground!

The private airport's ammunition reserves were limited, but it had enough fuel, more than enough to burn it to a crisp.

He immediately decided, "To the east of the hangars, 200 meters away. I'll lead it over, and you follow with maneuvering."

If everything was going to be demolished anyway, it would be better to send the behemoth and the airport's fuel depot together to meet their maker.

Once Instructor Ramaya was set on the decision, he no longer had any reservations.

"Understood!"

Dealing with a real ace of aerial combat turned out to be straightforward; just one sentence was enough for both sides to understand each other well. Chen Fei gently pulled the control stick, and the F-22 gained altitude, regaining height.

Because it was air-to-ground combat and not an up-close aerial dogfight, control was much less difficult. Moreover, without having to perform various intense tactical maneuvers and despite lacking experience, he could still control the old-fashioned jet fighter.

The lightly armed T-7C "Red Hawk" advanced trainer aircraft, despite its single-engine and a thrust-to-weight ratio of only 7.8:1—lower than the 10:1 of the F119-PW-100—could still achieve satisfactory temporary maneuverability advantage at low altitudes using energy combat theory. This was especially true for a harassment task, for which it was completely fit for purpose.

The advanced trainer aircraft burst-fired, infuriating the mutant on the ground to the point of madness, drawing ever closer to the fuel depot.

"Now!" "Now!"

In the communication channel, the voices of Instructor Ramaya and Chen Fei simultaneously resounded together.

Two auxiliary fuel tanks filled with aviation kerosene detached from the F-22 "Raptor's" wings, tumbling unsteadily toward the ground.

While still mid-air, they were suddenly bisected by the reappearing invisible cutting force, turning into two segments as the aviation fuel sprayed down like raindrops.

The F-22 "Raptor's" 20mm M61A2-type "Vulcan" six-barrel autocannon roared as tracer bullets, armor-piercing shells, high-explosive bombs, and incendiary bombs were fired in succession—soon followed by another set, the four types of ammunition cycled repeatedly on the same ammo belt.

A portion of the aviation fuel started to ignite, turning into a firestorm, but it was blocked by the invisible barrier.

Just then, the T-7C "Red Hawk" advanced trainer aircraft, having looped back around on a tight radius, boldly opened fire at low altitude toward the fuel depot.

Boom!~

Thunder erupted from the ground; a refueling truck exploded, and a fireball burst open, engulfing the unsuspecting mutant in flames.

The invisible barrier that could defend against firearms and magic couldn't adhere closely to the skin of the super-sized Qian Chuanzi, and even as it shrank to cover less area, flames still blazed vigorously on its body.

When it rains, it pours, and trouble never comes alone. The T-7C "Red Hawk" advanced trainer jet and the F-22 "Raptor" jet fighter both opened fire with their large-caliber cannons, piercing the fuel depot and finally blowing it up completely.

A fiery red mushroom cloud rose slowly, and the mutant, realizing something was amiss, attempted to flee in panic, but its lower half was engulfed by the explosion.

In an instant, a piercing scream of utmost shrillness erupted, so intense that even the raging flames seemed to quiver violently.

The heat value of aviation kerosene is incredibly high; even a lick of flame can cause skin to split and flesh to burst open.

Engulfed by a sea of fire spanning a hundred meters, the mutant, resembling a super-sized Qian Chuanzi, bolted out in complete disarray, still trailing flames that had not yet been extinguished.

Following the first two tactical maneuvers, the advanced trainer jet's cannon ammunition was finally depleted, and Instructor Ramaya helplessly reported, "I'm out of ammo!"

"I still have over two hundred rounds!"

Chen Fei counted his remaining rounds, from 480 down to 211.

Instructor Ramaya's T-7C "Red Hawk" trainer jet originally had less reserve ammo and had taken on the main attack role earlier, which naturally led to heavy use of ammo—not something that could be helped.

"This is Nellis Air Force Base, a combat squadron is en route to your location, please hold on."

Another voice suddenly intruded into the conversation between Chen Fei and Instructor Ramaya.

The American Federation, using satellites and ground radar, had easily captured the sudden emergency at Eagle-Nest Airport, as well as the two jets desperately in action.

The local air force base in Snow Mountain State immediately dispatched its own combat forces to assist.

"'Leo Star' squadron will arrive in five minutes!"

Another voice was heard on the communication channel.

"'Starbreaker' is expected to arrive in six minutes!"

"'Viking' is expected to arrive in six minutes!"

Impressive—two Crystal Jets from Red Rock State were also en route.

"Finally, some good news."

Instructor Ramaya breathed a sigh of relief and glanced at the ground, cursing irritably, "Damn, the fire on that big bugger's body has been extinguished."

The mutant on the ground, through some method or ability, had extinguished the flames that had engulfed it after being caught in the oil depot explosion, leaving only a trail of lingering smoke.

"This is really troublesome!"

Chen Fei also felt a headache coming on; if not for relying on the jet, he wouldn't have lasted even a few rounds empty-handed on the ground before being caught and devoured.

Even if he deployed the Secret Technique "Fight to the Death" passed down by Old Master Barut, he doubted he could hold on for much longer.

"Let's drop another fuel tank; I refuse to believe it won't ignite this time!"

Instructor Ramaya made a decision on the spot.

The T-7C "Red Hawk" without its auxiliary fuel tank could still hold out until the reinforcements arrived.

Chen Fei said, "I'll coordinate with you!"

One to drop the fuel tank, the other to use the cannon to ignite it—a perfect collaboration, perfect!

"Climb a bit higher this time!"

Instructor Ramaya pulled the control stick, and the advanced trainer jet began to climb steeply.

The F-22 "Raptor" circled over the menacing mutant below, waiting for the right moment to act, but Chen Fei suddenly had an idea.

Skill: "Basic Laser Emitter Level 1 (Level 2 requires 100 Energy Points)"

Upgrade!

-100 Energy Points!

Energy Points: 981/5000

Basic Laser Emitter Level 2 (Level 3 requires 100 Energy Points)

Upgrade! Upgrade! Upgrade! Upgrade! Upgrade! Upgrade!

Upgrade! Upgrade!

Basic Laser Emitter Level 9 (Level 10 requires 100 Energy Points)

Super Capacitor Level 1 (next level requires 100 Energy Points)

Upgrade!

-100 Energy Points!

Energy Points: 81/5000

Super Capacitor Level 2 (Level 3 requires 100 Energy Points)

Energy points aren't brought with life or taken with death; just do it.

Laser emitter synthesis evolution!

Above the right intake of the "Raptor" was the cannon, while the space above the left intake, previously empty, now revealed an opening, creating a symmetrical design.

Basic Laser Emitter Level 1 could barely light a cigarette from a hundred meters away, but Basic Laser Emitter Level 9 was a qualitative change.

One Energy Point could convert to 1000 watts/second of electric energy; without hesitation, Chen Fei invested 80 Energy Points, exchanging them for 80,000 watts/second of electric energy, plus the combined power generation from the "Magnetic Field Management Component" and the "Magnetoelectric Conversion Component," reaching a total of 100,000 watts/second.

Energy Points: 1/5000

The Rookie laughed maliciously—who said lighting a fire was hard!

With an output of 100,000 watts every 0.1 second, that's enough to play ten times. Laser burning a Qian Chuanzi—it's your turn now.
