Chapter 17: Is Death eternal ?
[You have received a Memory, Crimson Strings]
Ragna couldn't stop holding the big smile on his face as he quickly searched for the Memories runes.
'A Memory. So my first Relic is a Memory. It better be good, oh god, It will be good, it's from my divine Aspect after all.'
Ragna was so excited that it actually took him a while to finally find the strings but, finally, he did.
[Crimson Strings]:
Rank: Divine
Tier: 1
Type: Tool
Memory Description:
[These strings were personally made by the Bloodangel. They seek the blood of the dead.
On an important day, Weaver, spoke to their crafted child about the concept of death.
"My Bloodangel, there once existed the god of shadow but he was also known as the god of peace, death, solace and mysteries.
Death is something permanent, my child. Once something truly dies, it will never come back. There are many interpretations of death but at the end of the day, it's the start of nothing."
"But I've seen people come back from the dead so what you told me isn't true"
Weaver shook his head before answering
"They didn't truly die. They were in the process of dying but came back to life because of certain conditions. And if you mean undead like zombies or skeletons, thats also not reviving from true death since undead are not the same people they were before. They are copies of the original mind."
The young Bloodangel just couldn't understand. How could someone just be gone and never come back. That didn't make sense.
But suddenly he started moving his fingers weirdly, he was weaving, like his creator had taught him every day.
Weaver looked intrigued and with interest.
"What are you weaving ?"
The Flawed one didn't answer tho, he was concentrating, but after a while he was done. He had weaved ten identical rings, one for each finger.
Then, the Bloodangel, looked around, as if searching for something and he quickly did. A small spider, just a few meters above him.
He killed the spider by shooting blood at it and since it was just a normal animal, it died instantly.
The body of the dead spider now laid in front of them.
"What are you planning, Child ?"
"You'll see", said the Bloodangel with a smug grin.
He put the rings on and then held his hands over the dead spider. Suddenly strings of his own blood shoot forward from his fingertips, attaching themselves to the spiders dead body.
The 10 strings started moving, constructing the crushed body together again and then moving it like a marionette.
Weaver thought that his creation was just using the spiders body as a marionette, controlling the dead creature's body with his rings but then he suddenly noticed something.
Blood was pouring throughout the spider, making its heart beat again. The spider was alive again, feeling emotions, feeling pain and the agony of being controlled.
Weaver felt a shiver run down his spine as he looked at his creation, who was just smiling while moving the, in pain, creature.
He had created a monster.
The Bloodangel turned around, smiling.
"See, death isn't permanent. Shouldn't you know that ? Or am I just smarter ?"
But suddenly he felt a pang on his cheek as the Weaver slapped him.
"DON'T YOU DARE DO THAT AGAIN, DISRESPECTING THE GOD OF SHADOWS !"]
Attributes: [Blood Puppeteer]
'What a long and interesting Memory Description. I have never encountered one this long.
I haven't read the Attribute yet but I'm pretty sure that, with this Memory, I can bring back the dead for a short while and control their bodies.'
Ragna started thinking of the pros and cons of this Memory. He could control dead bodies. Anything that was dead, meaning also a titan for example, if he ever meets one and survives against it. He could use this ability when exhausted for example but there was one big con to this Memory. He probably needed to use all of his fingers to control someone, meaning that he personally couldn't partake in the fight, or rather hold a sword.
The Memory was still great tho so he summoned the It.
A few second later, each of his fingers were wearing a red ring. He didn't really know how to use them tho, so he tried a little bit around and quickly found the answer.
He needed to use his Aspect, augmenting the Memory with his blood and after he did that, he could freely make strings appear from each of the rings.
He made the Memory disappear again since he didn't have a dead body with him, nor a small creature, like a spider, in this safe place to test it out.
He looked over to Layla and Cera, who were both still sleeping before sighing.
'I'll have so much to do right now. Get stronger, gain more memories, test out the Crimson Strings and everything related to Cera. I also need to search the Waypoint to escape this place but the only lead on I have is that, the Waypoint, is located somewhere inside of the dark veil.'
Ragna just laid still, the small Cera on his chest, as he just made up plans and thought about the future.

A few hours later, Ragna and Layla, now also Cera, who was sitting on Ragna's shoulder, started moving on the white, pearly sand again.
(Hahha, continue carrying me, my pet.)
(If one of us is a pet, it's defenitely you, you Echo. By the way, why can't I recall you back into my Sea of Soul ?)
(Because I refuse to go back in there, you lowlife. I'm the Princess of Blood after all. You can't just summon and throw me away when you want.)
(Didn't you say that you didn't know what you were, so why are you suddenly the "Princess of Blood" ?)
(I gave that title to myself ! You are the Bloodlorde, no ? And I'm your daughter so it only makes sense for me to be a Princes.)
(Makes sense, I guess...)
As they continued moving on the white sand, Ragna couldn't help but grin at the playful banter inside of his mind. Cera was amusing and her attitude kinda reminded him of one of his favorite fictional characters. She was also smug like her and just said what was on her mind.
Layla, walking beside him, looked thoughtful but she didn't really convey emotions through her expression. She had also been quiet since setting of their journey again but Ragna didn't really mind. Layla's eyes were slowly darting around, as if expecting something, something dangerous.
Ragna was about to ask what was on her mind when he felt a slight disturbance in the air, a disturbance he couldn't pinpoint yet.
Ragna stopped in his tracks and gripped his sword tighter , being ready if someone was about to attack them.
Ragna and Layla could feel the ground tremble as a cloud of dust quickly approached the.
When Ragna realized that it wasn't just dust but a horde of nightmare creatures, running just into their direction, he froze for a second and Layla did just the same.
The couldn't run, it was already too late. The horde was just way too large.
"Fuck, what do we do ? They are mostly dormant, maybe a few dozen awakened and a handful of fallen. From where did they arrive ?"
But then Ragna realized why things felt weird.
Something was very, very wrong
The horde wasn't running at them, they were running away from something.
Ragna did not want to know what they were running away from.
'How do I get away, how do WE get away ? Do I try using the Crimson Strings to control a creature and ride on it ? Or do i try using as many buffs as I have and run away while carrying Layla ?'
Ragna augmented his feet and picked up Layla, instantly sprinting to the side since running into the same direction the beasts were running would've been suicide.
(CERA, USE YOUR BLOOD SACRIFICE, FAST)
Cera and Ragna didn't know eachother long, just a few hours, but they were connected by blood. They were family so they had a naturally trusted eachother and would work together.
Ragna saw Cera pale slightly on his shoulder but just them his Body felt better, stronger and faster. Blood Sacrifice was stronger than he expected, maybe because they shared the same blood.
As Ragna continued running, Layla turned around in his arms, looking over his shoulder. She shot liters of ink forward, splattering it on the ground so when the monsters stepped on it, she could use the other part of her Aspect to make them physically weaker, so slower.
Sadly it just wasn't enough to get out of the hordes way in time. As the horde got neared, Ragna only saw one way to survive. He was about to do something crazy.
He held Layla tighter as Cera did the same on him, before he jumpe off into the air and landed on the back of a creature.
Ragna felt the impact as he landed on the back a big Nightmare Creature, the momentum throwing him off balance for just a moment.
The creature roared, not yet realizing the additional on top of him.
Ragna kept his focus, knowing that one wrong move would make him and Layla fall down and then get trampled to death by the other beasts.
Ragna grinned, feeling the adrenaline pump through his body
"Hold on me tightly !", shouted Ragna as the creature he was standing on picked up speed.
(You're Crazy ! I already like you Papa !)
He glamced over his shoulder, seeing the hundreds, no, thousands of creatures just behind and at the side of them.
'I need to control this thing and then get the hell out.'
Without wasting any more time, he manifested the crimson strings.
He didn't have experience with them yet but he'd manage, somehow.
He turned his Mirrorblade and then thrust its through the creature they were riding, killing it on the spot.
[You have slain ...]
[You have spilled Blood]
[Your Core grows stronger]
He pushed his sword into Layla's hands and before the creature could stop running and fall down because of its death, Ragna augmented the rings and made bloody strings shoot forward, holding the corpse and making it come back to life, but not being able to freely move as Ragna now had control over him.
But suddenly he felt a cold shudder around the air as his instincts were yelling at him to go faster.
Whatever the horde was running away from, It was also getting neared, already killing the beasts at the back.
Sweat ran down Ragna's face as he controlled the creature, Layla killing the beasts that were getting to close with his sword while Cera was using [Blood conjuring] to shoot out beams of blood, killing creatures here and there.
'Just a little bit more .. only a little bit more'
---Author's Notes---
Words: 1834
I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter because I did writing it, especially the description of his new Memory.
Im not sure how much longer I want to make this arc inside of the dream Realm since this story is a little bit more fast paced. I could to be honest still take like 40 chapters or end it in just 5.
I'll probably think of a satisfying length tho.
That's all I had to say
