Shadow Monarch: Multiverse Ascendance

Chapter 20: CHAPTER 20

Especially at level 5 will grant me total mana breathing sounds like it's removing my need to breathe oxygen and replacing it with pure mana.

So I can survive without oxygen.

And this gets confirmed upon max my blood will replace with Mana.  It sounds like some kind of Divine Shit.. and does it means I will become like an Anodite from Ben 10. Just blood vise but still it sounds great.

Will it affect my genetics and the ability to procreate? I do not know but whatever it is it's amazing...

A shit that I am very much in love with. And love has it, this seems to be more powerful than Mana Manipulation itself but it's still not on the level of Mana Manipulation because with it I already created so many spells.

With excitement, I took a swig of cold refreshing beer.  A very expected sound appeared in my head.

Ding~

I grimaced at the electronic tone.

[A harmful substance has been detected.

The effects of the 'Detoxification' buff will be activated.

3, 2, 1… Detoxification complete.]

Fuck I can't even get drunk with this. But I won't say it's bad.

I finished the beer and opened another can.

gulp gulp gulp

[A harmful substance has been detected.

The effects of the 'Detoxification' buff will be activated.

3, 2, 1… Detoxification complete.]

As expected, the same message appeared.  Even after chugging two cans of beer back-to-back, I did not feel a hint of a buzz.  The effect of the buff was clear.

I tilted my head. Even though it's been not long since I came into this world I had never met a Hunter who could place buffs on others.  Hunters with such special abilities mostly worked for large Guilds.

"Oppa, what's wrong? What happened? Should've eaten slower."

Watching my face deep in thought, Jinah asked with concern.

"No, something just came to mind. You keep watching."

I raised my fist in the air in triumph and checked my status screen.

As expected, my stat has gone beyond.  Anything and with Mana Manipulation and a little bit of imagination I easily develop magical spells.

It was pretty easy. What I did first is materialize elements like fire, water, and air, then I gave them some of the most simple shapes which granted me each element manipulation, then I created simple spells like Ball, Wall, and Arrow.

And once I created a single element it got much easier to create other elements, and because the fire was the first one I started with that.

The same concept was applied to skills like Claws and Body Enhancement letting them absorb the mana making my body stronger, and extending my nails making them sharper.

Of course, I wanted to create Reinforcement from Type-Moon as it allowed many humans to fight heroic spirits at least for a few minutes.

But because of the lack of experience and knowledge, I got this skill. I tried to create spells such as Call Lightning, Lightning Chain, Fire Tornado, Cyclone, and Sonic Canon, but I ultimately failed to create such powerful spells.

I knew I wasn't lacking MP No it wasn't the case. And I don't know what was the case. Maybe it might be me who lacks the experience and knowledge.

Whatever the case I am very happy with this I could take down at least B- -rank boos with some difficulty.

I was still working on the resistance for elements and trying to gain regeneration skills. After going through a lot of pain.

I don't like pain. I am not some kind of Masochist, but I didn't have any choices as I rather feel extreme pain than the death cycle on my neck. Believe me, if I could I wouldn't be doing this.

And the best thing I got from the skills of element manipulation and title elementalist is I could increase or decrease the output of each of the skills. For example, an Ice Arrow could be as small as a needle or it could be as big as an icicle making it weaker or stronger.

Of course, if I try to modify the spell mana consumption greatly increases. As I am interfering with the automatic system.

I used the same method on Jinah using the skill

Wind Strike but making it so small that it felt like a flick of a finger. Same for cans of coke that I levitated.

All of them were amazing skills especially the manipulation one as they now grant to create element spells pretty easily.

And I also had a small store to a dungeon because the Association called me. Which granted me enough EXP to Level up again. Of course because of me missing the whole time my reputation got worse. But it doesn't taste like any batter before.

And when I got bored from doing this I started to look for the best place where I could find most Ley lines. The best way to increase my Mana to a level beyond expectations.

I did find a few good places but I am still looking. I knew the USA was the best place to find it as it was the first place where an S-rank gate was opened.

Maybe I could find some Dragon Veins there.

Yes, I knew it was very wishful thinking but I rather think positive and prepare for the worst.

"But I need a new source of energy, the mana in the air wouldn't work... It seems I have to take a trip" I frowned slightly while looking at the distance.

In my sight, there was a long giant trail of light passing the entire city before splitting into different directions but at one point, there was a separate trail of light in the forest outside the city.

Those are the Dragon Veins that span this planet and the carrier of most of the mana and Ley lines in nature which is my target this time, but I am not after the normal Dragon vein or Ley lines that could kill me if I dare to touch it.

The separation from the original vein is my goal this time. Unlike the big vein, the separation doesn't have that big energy, but for me, it is more than enough, and because the Ki and Ley lines in it are chaotic nobody will come after it. And it is not like one is even aware of them, at least no one on this planet.

I stood there feeling the wind blowing my hair slightly while looking at the clouds in the sky through the window in the room.

"I still do not know what happened to me or why I became like this..." I closed my eyes as I whispered." When did it start? Since far, far into the past? Maybe it was from my past life? Or maybe it was this life?"

"That doesn't matter anymore" I opened my eyes and smiled slightly before saying "... And besides. This's just me"

I don't know when I became like this. But it may be my regret in my past life.

I remember the life that felt like a machine for me. Everything comes and goes, with no goal, no ambition. I felt more dead than living during those times, so I wanted to make up for it... Maybe that's my look for freedom.

Even though I knew that I had killed eight people I didn't feel any different, no psychotic episode, no nightmares, or even worse, no guilt. I felt like I just killed an ordinary monster in a dungeon instead of a fellow human but as I remembered what happened in that place, I still felt like it was the right decision.

Maybe I screwed up, maybe I was always screwed up, just never got a chance to show this.

"But does it matter crying now won't do anything. It doesn't matter if I was always like this or if I became like this after the world shift. What matters is now I am alive and to live I had to kill some time."

Why do I feel nothing? In the end, nothing changes. I only have the desire to climb higher, gain the power to bang some beauties, travel to this vast multiverse, and build a family.

But is it good? And for what reason?

I shook my head to get rid of these thoughts.

"What are you worried about Jin? Things like greed, self-interest, and even lust are all desires that humans fight tirelessly for in their daily lives.

At no point should you bother to question the reason because it feels good or simply because you want it to be more than enough.

But if you feel like that would never cure your restless heart and ashamed of not possessing a true reason"

As I lifted my hand toward the wide sky.

You must assent through these skies. Then you will know."

Crying now would only bring destruction on this planet as I know I am the last and first line of defense for this world.

I am the only one who stands between the death of this world and the death of beasts.

"Good!"

As I celebrated my new enlistment and started, that was my path to OP.  Jinah called to me from the living room.

"Oppa, do you know someone named Yoo Jinwoo? And Yoo Jinwoo is looking for you."

"I don't think his name is Yoo Jinwoo…"

I went over to the living room and took the receiver from the beauty.

"Hello."

-"Hyungnim, it's me, Yoo Jinho."

"Make it short."

-"Ah! I apologize, Hyungnim. But there's something I really want to discuss with you. It's hard to explain over the phone, can we meet up somewhere?"

Hearing him there was a faint smile on my face as I Knew why he called me and I was just waiting for this.

-"It's really important, Hyungnim."

I allowed Yoo Jinho exactly 1 hour of my time.  We met at a French café near my house. Even on a weekday afternoon, the café was packed with people.

"Hyungnim, over here!"

Yoo Jinho greeted me happily.  I had expanded his senses when I entered. I did not notice any other Hunters.

I sat down opposite Yoo Jinho.  In front of him was half-eaten ice cream in a bowl.

"I didn't think I'd see you again."

Yoo Jinho stood up and asked,

"Did you order anything? Shall I go grab some coffee?"

"No, it's okay."

With a disappointed face, Yoo Jinho sat back down.

"So how was the construction of your new home going? " Asked Yoo Jinho...

As he knew I was building a new home in fact he was the one who introduced me to the contractor and now his father's company was constituting the new home as it was a very special home that I was having them build and it was going to take a big chunk of my account balance.

"It's going pretty well and will be ready in a month," I told him as a smile bloomed on his face as he was proud to know that he got to do something useful for me.

I opened my mouth to speak,

"So what's this all about-"

But I was interrupted by a group of students at a table over.

"I'm telling you it's true! You should've seen it, it was crazy!"

There were three strong looking boys wearing athletic-club uniforms talking with three girls.  I tried to focus on the conversation at hand,

"So what's this all"

"What are you talking about! Look at this fucker makeup shit in front of girls again!"

"…About…"

"I'm telling you! Holy shit, you want me to show you the pictures? I got the proof right here!"

The male students' voices were loud, but just as annoying were the giggling female students.

"…"

Unable to talk through the loud conversation next to them, I got up and quietly walked over to the other table.  The three boys' faces turned to me in unison.

"Could you please quiet down a little? There are other people here."

One of the boys mockingly bowed his head.

"Yes sir, yes sir. We'll be quiet. Sowwy~"

The girls laughed at his apology.

"…"

I just stared at them, then turned around.  Suddenly, something soft was about to hit the back of my head.  But before it hit my senses picked up and I caught it before... A rolled-up napkin fell onto the floor.

"Hahahahaha!"

"Hehehehehehe!"

"Stop it! Haha, stop it!"

The male students laughed out loud, while the female students pretended to stop them and laugh.  Yoo Jinho's face when he was watching the scene started to freeze.

"H-hyungnim…"

I grabbed a spoon from Yoo Jinho's ice cream bowl and went over to the counter.

"Look at him, he's going to tell us."

"Waah- mommy, there are some people being loud, waah. Hahaha"

Even as I walked, the students continued their mocking.  I asked the nervous looking shop employee,

"This spoon and the table. How much is it?"

"I'm sorry customer, we don't really sell those spoons..."

"It's less than ten thousand, right?"

"Sir? Ah, well… probably…"

I placed a ten thousand won bill on the counter and turned around.

"Customer? S-sir?"

I ignored the woman's voice and walked toward the students' table.  Seeing me approach with a serious expression, the male students rose up from their seats.

"What, you wanna go?"

Every eye in the shop was focused on the scene that was unfolding.

I held out the spoon that I was holding to the boys.

"…?"

"…?"

As they looked at me with confusion, I slowly closed my fist around the spoon.  "Crack crack" The metallic spoon crumpled into an unrecognizable mess in my hand.

The boys' faces began to turn white.

My hand opened up and a ball of fire appeared on my hand which instantly melted the spoon...

"Dip tip"

As the melted steel started to drip on the table, instantly burning and going through it.

"Tip tip dip"

The melted steel that went through the holes it created on the table could no longer be called a spoon.  It was a piece of metal crushed and melted into a drop that was still on the ground and burning.

"!"
