Chapter 303. Information For Information
Seven Sins System Chapter 303. Information For Information
Aria let out an annoyed click of her tongue and folded her arms in exasperation. "Fine, what do you want to ask?" she grumbled, clearly not thrilled about the prospect of sharing information with me.
I didn't waste any time getting to the point. "I want to know about the white crystal and how far your investigation has progressed," I replied calmly, maintaining eye contact.
She frowned deeply at my request. "Aren't you asking for a bit too much?" Aria questioned, skepticism lacing her words.
I leaned back in my chair, unfazed by her resistance. "Well, considering what I'm about to reveal is of paramount importance, it seems only fair that you reciprocate with similarly important information," I explained casually, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Aria's frown became even more pronounced as she sought further clarification. "What do you mean?" she inquired, her tone demanding an explanation. Her arms were still folded across her chest, and she looked like she wasn't entirely thrilled with this exchange.
I decided to sweeten the deal just a bit. "Let's just say, I have a connection to someone who's closely associated with that fake Lord of Wrath," I replied, watching her reaction closely. It was a tidbit of information that I knew would pique her interest.
Her frustration was evident as she clicked her tongue in annoyance upon hearing my statement. "Tch! Fine!" she grumbled in irritation, clearly feeling like she was giving in. "The white crystal is essentially the same as the dark crystal," she began explaining, her eyes locked onto mine. "I first encountered it about a month ago while I was hanging out with some friends in the area. A mortal possessed a white crystal, went berserk, and caused a major accident. Fortunately, I was able to resolve the situation relatively quickly," she recounted, her expression serious.
Her gaze remained fixed on me, waiting for my reaction to this valuable piece of information.
"A month ago..." I mumbled to myself, the pieces of the puzzle starting to come together. It coincided with the time I had assisted one of Julia's team members. The hospital had been overflowing with patients, and I had felt a faint surge of angelic power. However, my system hadn't alerted me to anything unusual. Now it made sense; Aria must have handled the situation swiftly, perhaps even deploying a barrier to conceal the incident from me.
But I needed to know more. "And then?" I prodded, eager for additional details.
Aria pressed on with her explanation. "That's when I began keeping a close watch on this area. As for my investigation, I've recently discovered that this incident is most likely the work of the mortal," she revealed, her tone serious.
I couldn't help but question her further. "But why are you blaming the demons for this?" I asked, narrowing my eyes in curiosity.
Aria hesitated for a moment before answering, her voice tinged with reluctance. "It was my mother's order," she admitted.
I couldn't help but scoff at that. "Of course," I muttered sarcastically. "Your mother wouldn't hesitate to use us for her own purposes," I added with a frustrated huff.
"As you said, two heads are better than one. She thought the same thing," Aria added, trying to come up with an excuse.
I couldn't hide my disbelief. "And you agreed to work together?" I asked, genuinely surprised, especially considering Aria was the goddess who harbored the most disdain for demons.
Aria nodded, her expression serious. "Yes. Sometimes, even the goddesses have to pay attention to the angels, and the devils have to keep an eye on the demons," she admitted. It seemed like this situation was far more complex than I had initially thought, and alliances were being formed across boundaries for a common cause.
I couldn't help but press further. "If she knew it's not our fault, then why did she challenge us at the last meeting?" I questioned, not letting it go.
Aria went silent for a moment, and I could sense her reluctance. "Speak, Puriel," I demanded, using her true name.
She finally sighed and began to explain, "She thought that whoever orchestrated this chaos was aiming to manipulate angels and demons into fighting each other. By initiating a war, she hoped to lure the culprits out into the open, forcing them to reveal themselves soon." It was a risky gambit, but it seemed her mother believed it was the best course of action.
I couldn't help but respond with a touch of sarcasm, not expecting the queen of the goddesses to be quite so cunning. "Well, that makes sense," I said, acknowledging the twisted logic behind her plan. "But it'll only work if we don't beat you guys to the punch first," I added, a hint of annoyance in my voice.
Aria nodded, her expression a mix of resignation and concern. "My mother will discuss it with your father first, just to be sure if we indeed have to resort to such a desperate plan," she explained in a hushed tone.
I let out a quiet sigh, realizing the gravity of the situation. "Right," I murmured, contemplating the delicate balance between our two realms.
Aria quickly tried to shift the conversation away from the troubling topic at hand. "So who's involved?" she asked, her curiosity evident.
I leaned in slightly, my voice low and serious. "John from your team," I replied, watching her reaction closely. "You'd better keep an eye on him. He has something to do with a forbidden cult, and he considers the fake me to be their supreme leader." My words hung in the air, a heavy revelation that could potentially unravel more mysteries in this tangled web of intrigue.
Aria's frown deepened as she absorbed the gravity of the situation. "I see... I'll definitely be careful then," she replied, her voice tinged with a mix of concern and determination.
I nodded, adding another layer to our already complex conversation. "And just so you know, I've piqued his interest. It's likely they'll make their move soon," I warned, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
