Chapter 13: Goblin Invaders
"Finally, it's the elite class's turn. I was about to fall asleep watching the others!"
The school leaders, who had been dozing off, finally perked up as Class 1's turn arrived.
"I heard that in this elite class, someone's starting species is quite impressive, to think, they actually managed to get the Dragonkin!" the Logistics Director inquired curiously.
"Haha, that's Xiang Xun's child. It's just a trace of dragon bloodline, nothing more!" Zhao Yiming laughed, though his proud expression was evident to all despite his dismissive words.
After all, anything related to dragons had only one synonym; powerful!
"The Wang family's girl is also remarkable. She got Bronze Tier 9 half-elves. If she could get a Moonwell terrain card, that would be incredible!" the Publicity Department Head chimed in.
"Let's see how they perform," Zhong Tianyue spoke, silencing the school leaders.
At this time, Xu Luo was being guided by school staff to a simulation pod.
"Xu Luo, try not to get wiped out too quickly. It wouldn't be fun otherwise," a voice said near his ear.
"I'm quite curious about your mutant species!"
Xu Luo glanced sideways to see Xiang Xun.
Xu Luo was bemused, wondering if this person came over just to say that. But he soon realized his misunderstanding - Xiang Xun's pod was just one spot away from his.
"Take care of yourself," he replied indifferently.
He couldn't be bothered with this person. If provoked, he might just destroy Xiang Xun's divine realm.
Two hundred students entered the simulation pods in succession.
"Do you think anyone from our school could be selected for the global tournament this time?" Zhong Tianyue suddenly asked.
"Class 1 has produced several talents this time. Xiang Xun and Wang Xiaoling will surely enter Luojing God University in three years, but as for the global tournament..."
The Training Director shook his head.
Entering Luojing God University and being selected for the global tournament were different matters. In all of Tianhai, less than ten people were selected last year, and their Sixth Middle School had none. This year's Xiang Xun and Wang Xiaoling were good, but they fell far short compared to last year's rookie champion, Yang Tiange.
If even Yang Tiange couldn't be selected, this year's batch stood even less chance.
Zhong Tianyue sighed.
Xiang Xun was indeed impressive, starting with a Bronze Tier 8 Dragonkin Blood Warrior, which he later cultivated to Bronze Tier 9 and fully equipped.
However, Zhong Tianyue knew that First High School already had a prodigy who had cultivated a Silver Tier species. Such a gap was despairingly large.
His gaze inadvertently fell on Xu Luo.
As the principal, he knew information that others didn't, like the actions of this crazy youngster.
He hoped Xu Luo might bring him an unexpected surprise.
Thinking about what this youth had done in the past month made even the seasoned Zhong Tianyue's heart race.
Of course, Xu Luo was unaware of all this. After lying down in the simulation pod, a mechanical voice sounded in his ear.
[Connecting to God's Domain, connecting to lower plane...]
[Connection complete. Assessment begins. Please defend your divine realm core during the invasion!]
As the mechanical prompt in the simulation pod ended, Xu Luo's consciousness returned to his divine realm. However, he felt an intangible barrier between himself and the realm, unlike the smooth connection when using a game pod.
Just as he entered the divine realm, he saw a huge rift torn in the sky to the southeast.
There was no sun in the divine realm, but there was a sky. Through the rift, he could vaguely see scenes from another plane.
In a normal invasion, Xu Luo would have immediately sent out the mayflies as vanguards.
Unfortunately, this was just a simulation, and no matter how much the mayflies collected, it would be useless. So he didn't bother commanding them to move.
To Xu Luo's surprise, the invaders he faced this time were goblins, the same species as Xiang Yang's.
The previously calm goblins seemed to sense the existence of the divine realm. Led by a few skinny goblins wielding staves, they continuously poured out of their dwelling caves, charging towards his divine realm.
"So many?" Xu Luo's expression turned serious. This first monthly exam was crucial, and he took it very seriously.
Although he faced goblins, he didn't expect that besides goblin warriors, there were also goblin braves and goblin mages. These two were elite template units, much stronger than goblin warriors of the same tier.
In just a moment, a large group of goblins swarmed into Xu Luo's divine realm.
Using the divine realm's properties, Xu Luo learned their strength.
1,200 Bronze Tier 4 normal template goblin warriors.
50 Bronze Tier 5 elite template goblin braves!
5 Bronze Tier 6 elite template goblin mages!
But there was no lord-level goblin chieftain.
Even so, the strength of these green-skinned monsters was not to be underestimated. Their ugly faces now wore fanatical expressions as they charged recklessly through the divine realm, wielding simple weapons like wooden spears and stone axes.
One should never assume these short creatures were weak.
Though small in stature, they were cunning, cruel, and highly aggressive.
While individually weak, they excelled at teamwork, forming tribes and even goblin kingdoms. In God's Domain, goblins were far from synonymous with weakness.
No wonder many previous students couldn't even last ten minutes before their divine realm cores were destroyed. If this was the standard, it was indeed difficult to resist.
However, Xu Luo actually felt relieved.
"Seems like my luck is good."
This level of invasion was no match for him.
With a thought, he commanded some of his Mantis Zerg and Beetle Zerg to deploy. He didn't use the Acid Zerg at all.
With so many people watching outside, he didn't want to reveal his true strength.
After a month of accumulation, if he were to reveal his full power, it would be enough to frighten his fellow students.
10,000 Mantis Zerg and 5,000 Beetle Zerg surged out from the underground hive. This many wasn't necessary, but using more served as a deterrent to others, preventing them from thinking he was easy to bully.
15,000 was just right - enough to defeat the invaders without appearing too powerful and attracting the attention of other races.
He was already on the blacklist of other races. If he were exposed in the real world, the consequences would be unthinkable.
