Return of the last survivor

"Bring him in" Said a rather melodious voice, which immediately got Merlin's attention. These giant dwarves mostly had rough and unnerving voices, even the children and women. That was just the way they were. But there was clearly someone in the carriage who was different.

"My lady, I must object at this moment. For your own safety, is it not better to just return back to the castle and then send someone here to rescue him?" Said a rough voice of a Shi soldier.

"Nonsense. Look at how much pain he is in. Furthermore, would it not be interesting to learn things from the outsider?"

The last word was like a clap of thunder in Merlin's ears, as his face froze and he instantly raised his vigilance to the carriage.

Slowly opening his eyes, he sat upright on the ground before looking at the carriage with a solemn expression. But inspection had no results, which greatly confused him. But he did not mind, and just sighed.

Along with the breath he exhaled, his Shi clan disguise wore off and he returned to being his normal self.

This sudden transformation greatly shocked the two soldiers in the vicinity, but since they were no threat to Axel, he simply ignore them.

Putting on some clothes, Merlin stood up and walked towards the door of the carriage.

"STOP!"

The soldier who had spoken before was the first to draw his sword towards Merlin, but the man in question simply held onto the sword before melting it into molten metal.

This scene greatly shocked the two soldiers, with the one whose sword was destroying panicking to pull out his back-up weapon, while the other one simply charged at Axel.

"Is this what you want? You were the one to greet me first." Axel said while shaking his head, preparing to kill the two of them before having a conversation with the woman inside the carriage.

"Stop. He is a respected guest from beyond the realm. Let me have a chat with him"

"But my lady…" However, the soldier was cut off by the woman inside.

"No buts."

The soldier that was charging stopped in his motion and sheathed his sword, while the other whose weapon had been destroyed, finally found his sword, only to be told to put it back.

Climbing into the carriage, Merlin found that the lady inside was wearing a veil, which not only blocked his vision, but also his other senses including mana and inspection.

"That is a pretty interesting veil you got there. Mind if you let me have a look later on?"

"That's fine." The lady shook her head in clear refusal.

"Fine. Then I can take it from you later."

The lady clearly froze for a moment, but quickly regained her composure. It as only now that Merlin felt like things were under control. The problem was not as severe as he thought it was. This lady was probably not a peak Tier 4 like the dragon he had met in the world above this place, but had only found out his identity through some tool. And it was likely to be the veil she was wearing, that was able to block his inspection, and all other senses.

"So, what do you want?" Axel asked without beating around the bush.

"…"

"You called me into the carriage. You should have something to talk about right?"

"But you were the one wanting to get into the carriage?" She said in a confused voice.

"Alright, if you have nothing to say to me, I will be leaving now. I have a lot of other more important business to do"

"Like lying on the ground and acting to be in pain?"
