Restart, Spider-Man!

Chapter 198: Restart, Spider-Man! [198]

Buzz!

As the colossal mech solidified, the mechanical engines roared to life. Golden eyes flared with dazzling light, illuminating the dark, viscous world.

BOOM!!

Standing 60 meters tall, the massive mech slammed onto the soft "ground," its 23,000-ton weight mercilessly crushing grotesque, pulsating lumps of flesh.

Buzz!

In the next instant, a boomerang-like weapon streaked through the air, slicing a 300-meter-long rift into the oppressive darkness.

ROAR!!

A feral, blood-curdling howl echoed as endless winds surged through the breach, carrying the fiery glow of hell from the outside into the shadowy world.

Now fully illuminated, the mech revealed itself—primarily black and silver, with a glowing red spider-web emblem covering its chest-mounted engine. Golden web motifs adorned its waist and knees.

The mech's massive head resembled a spider, its red face sporting fierce mandibles. A golden boomerang embedded in its forehead gleamed, casting a sharp V-shaped glow.

Seeing the towering mech, Xia Luo's inverted triangular eyes widened, a soft blue glow radiating from within.

"That's… Leopardon!"

This was the ultimate Spider-Man—straight from Toei Studios. With Spider-Sense capable of detecting threats within a 50-kilometer radius and a sword reputed to one-shot any foe, it was the infamous Leopardon!

In the comics, every Spider-Man unanimously acknowledged Leopardon's power.

Yet, the mech was also known for its strange, indulgent tendency to engage in hand-to-hand combat before finishing enemies it could have obliterated in one strike.

Under Xia Luo's expectant gaze, the massive mech gripped a giant sword. Its two hands reversed their hold on the hilt, plunging the blade deep into the squishy "ground."

A single, decisive strike—The Soul-Searing Sword of War!

Buzz!!

BOOOOOM!!!

In an instant, the giant sword unleashed a cascade of dazzling electric arcs, a surge of energy so powerful that it summoned a hurricane, tearing through the dark world and obliterating every fleshy mass in its path.

Nothing could stand against the sheer devastation of this strike.

It seemed to split the heavens and the earth, tearing through dimensions, dismantling Hell itself, and erasing all darkness and despair in its wake.

It was invincible.

It brought hope and light.

ROARRR!!

The monstrous howl grew more desperate, only to cease abruptly as the dark world fractured under the sword's might.

KA-BOOM!!

The next moment, a cataclysmic explosion engulfed Xia Luo's surroundings.

Two enormous mechanical hands descended, shielding Xia Luo from the destructive blast.

The explosion, akin to a nuclear detonation, stripped away the dark forest's enigmatic shroud. Black birds scattered in panic, only to be torn apart by the shockwave.

The once-dense forest was reduced to a charred wasteland. Bare, scorched trees stood like skeletal remains, while countless dark elves disintegrated into soul fragments under the blistering heat.

In the distance, the volcano trembled violently. Its crater erupted with even thicker, black hellfire.

At the lava lake, magma columns shot skyward, eliciting terrified wails from wraiths caught in the inferno. The Ghost Rider's fiery eyes flickered incessantly as the skeletal steed beneath him neighed anxiously, sensing its master's body trembling.

Back in Bone City, countless wraiths watched as the massive hellworm's body was torn apart, its remains scattered in countless fragments. The expressions of those watching shifted rapidly from shock to utter terror.

"No way!"

"Oh my god! Lord Mephisto's beloved Hell Dragon has been slain!"

"The sky is falling!!"

From the heart of the destruction, the giant mech burst into view, launching itself skyward.

Seeing this, Old Man Steve's face lit up with joy.

"Could it be Tony?"

Natasha frowned. "Unlikely. That doesn't look like Tony's Mark armor."

Old Man Steve furrowed his brows in thought. "Maybe not, but if Tony won the resurrection match and gained access to advanced tech, it's possible he built a giant mech."

Clint's expression remained cold. "Doesn't matter. Let's check it out first."

"Agreed."

The group immediately sprang into action.

---

At the edge of the obliterated dark forest, the colossal mech gently lowered Xia Luo to the ground.

Moments later, under Xia Luo's gaze, the mech reverted to the spaceship Marbella. From its interior, a combat vehicle shot out, spinning through the air before landing gracefully on the ground.

Vroom!

The engine roared as the GP-7, a vehicle brimming with tokusatsu flair, drifted stylishly to a stop in front of Xia Luo.

Whoosh!

A red-and-blue figure leapt out of the car, landing on the hood. With clawed hands mimicking a striking pose, the figure crouched down in a classic stance.

"The Hellbound Herald, Spider-Man!"

Xia Luo: "..."

Watching the exaggerated yet slightly embarrassing display, Xia Luo froze in place.

"This is literally Hell," he deadpanned. "There's no need for a dramatic return."

Takuya Yamashiro glanced around awkwardly before scratching his head.

"My bad," he muttered, then repeated the exact same pose.

"The man who saves lost souls—Spider-Man!"

Xia Luo: "..."

"As Spider-Man, I appreciate you saving me earlier," Xia Luo began, rubbing his temples. "But listen, the fourth wall's already broken. You don't have to stick to your original shtick. If you keep this up, the other superheroes—especially Spider-Men—are going to roast you. Take me, for example. I'd love to make fun of you right now, but I can't beat you, so I'm politely asking you to stop. Otherwise, we'll all look bad."

While Xia Luo rambled, Takuya Yamashiro hopped down, landing with peculiar, shuffling steps akin to a Naruto character.

"Please stop that. Can you just explain the situation?" Xia Luo asked, exasperated.

Xia Luo pointed toward the Hell Volcano in the distance. "This is some demon's Hell. I summoned you with my powers because I need your help."

Takuya nodded, then hesitated.

"I've already saved you. Can you send me back now? I haven't finished dealing with the Iron Cross Army soldiers."

Xia Luo scratched his head. "Well, uh…"

Taking a deep breath, he solemnly declared, "Takuya Yamashiro, with great power comes great responsibility. As Spider-Man, I'm asking you to help save the innocent souls trapped in Hell."

"With great power comes great responsibility… innocent souls?"

Takuya's inverted triangular eyes gleamed with newfound determination. "All right! Let's be the men who save innocent souls!"

He struck a series of flamboyant poses before extending a fist toward Xia Luo, as though expecting a fist bump.

"Uh…"

Xia Luo hesitated, feeling secondhand embarrassment.

Having a flair for the dramatic was one thing, but this level of over-the-top theatrics was downright cringey.

Still, if it meant securing Takuya's cooperation, Xia Luo gritted his teeth and bumped fists.

"Fine. Let's save those innocent souls!" he said, swallowing his pride.

Xia Luo glanced around, relieved to see no one was watching.

As long as no one saw this, it wasn't that humiliating.

With the fist bump, the two Spider-Men reached an agreement.

"So, what's the plan?" Takuya asked.

Xia Luo pointed toward the Hell Volcano. "The person I'm looking for might be there."

"Got it. Let's go!"

Takuya leapt into the GP-7 and gestured for Xia Luo to join him.

Xia Luo glanced at the spaceship hovering nearby. "I think that'll get us there faster," he said, pointing to it.

Takuya considered for a moment. "You've got a point!"

With that, he drove the GP-7 back into the spaceship.

Boom!

As the ship's thrusters roared to life, Xia Luo frantically waved his arms.

"Wait! I'm not on board yet!"

"Oops, my bad. Hurry up!"

Takuya fired a thick webline, and Xia Luo climbed aboard.

Boom!

The spaceship tore through the gloomy skies, kicking up a whirlwind of sand and ash as it sped toward the volcano.

In less than a minute, they reached its base.

Gurgle-gurgle…

Before the ship could approach further, the Hell Volcano erupted in a torrent of hellfire. Molten rock and fiery debris rained down in apocalyptic fashion, painting a picture of utter destruction.

Unfazed, Takuya yelled, "Leopardon!"

Tapping a metallic wristband, he initiated the mech's transformation.

Buzz!

Boom!!

The massive mech reappeared, raising its golden spider-web shield. Hellfire and molten rock crashed against the shield, scattering in an explosion of sparks and flames.

Seizing the moment, Leopardon drew its Soul-Searing Sword.

"Here we go!!"

In Xia Luo's view, the mech hurled the sword straight at the Hell Volcano.

Buzz!

BOOM!!

The towering volcano, over ten thousand meters high, split cleanly in two under the sword's radiant glow.

For Leopardon, nothing was beyond the reach of its blade.

Crack-crack-crack!

ROARRR!!

The skies darkened, the volcano trembled, and its twisted tunnels were laid bare. Rivers of molten lava surged upward, turning the entire scene into a vision of despair.

Countless wraiths screamed in agony as the lava consumed them.

Watching the chaos, Xia Luo's eye twitched.

"What are you doing?" he asked, turning toward Takuya.

Sitting in the copilot seat, Takuya raised a fist triumphantly.

"I'm Spider-Man—the man who slays all evil to save innocent souls!"

"You're way too trigger-happy!!" Xia Luo yelled, gripping his hair in frustration. "I'm trying to save people! Save, not kill!"

"You just split the volcano open. The person I'm trying to rescue might die, too. Use your Spider-Sense!"

"Sense what?" Takuya looked genuinely confused.

Xia Luo facepalmed. "You can sense when your girlfriend's in danger, so why can't you sense this?"

"We're just friends," Takuya replied bashfully, looking down.

"This is not the time for clarifications! Just sense the innocent souls!"

"Sorry, there are too many of them. I can't pinpoint anyone."

"Oh, come on! Can you do anything besides fight?"

"I'm good at fixing motorcycles."

"Great. How about fixing this mess instead!"

"Don't worry, I've got this."

The mech's cockpit opened, and Takuya leapt onto Leopardon's shoulder.

"The man who risks it all for a promise—Spider-Man!!"

"This is NOT the time for poses!" Xia Luo roared.

"Noted. I'll work on that."

Embarrassed, Takuya scratched his head before jumping into the volcano's exposed tunnels.

"Why… Why does he keep doing somersaults while descending?"

Muttering complaints, Xia Luo swung into the volcano using his webbing.

The volcano's unstable structure threatened to collapse at any moment. Dodging streams of molten rock, Xia Luo followed Takuya, who was locked in yet another prolonged battle with wraiths.

"What is with multiverse Spider-Men and their quirks?" Xia Luo sighed.

Perhaps this was the cost of inheriting the Spider-Man legacy.

Shaking his head, Xia Luo transformed into an electric arc, zipping through the battlefield.

Zzt-zzt!

Boom-boom-boom!

In a matter of seconds, the arc disintegrated the wraith soldiers, reducing them to fragments of soul energy.

Takuya froze, watching in awe.

"Amazing, Xia Luo-kun!" he exclaimed, giving a thumbs-up.

Xia Luo rolled his eyes. "I'm just doing what's normal."

Transforming back, Xia Luo sped deeper into the tunnels. Somehow, Takuya managed to keep up, his strange movements never once slowing him down.

Suddenly, the sound of galloping hooves echoed from ahead.

Xia Luo's expression darkened.

As expected, the Ghost Rider appeared, his skeletal steed galloping through the lava-filled tunnel. Hellfire engulfed the passage as the Rider hurled his blazing chain forward.

The chain slithered like a hellish dragon, its fiery roars echoing through the tunnel.

With no way to retreat, Xia Luo grabbed Takuya and shoved him forward.

"Giegie, save me!"

"Nani?!"

Startled, Takuya quickly activated his wrist device. Leopardon's eyes gleamed as the Soul-Searing Sword plunged into the tunnel, scattering the hellish dragon and engulfing the Ghost Rider in its radiance.

Takuya exhaled in relief. "That was close."

Behind him, Xia Luo peeked out and gave a thumbs-up.

"Giegie, you're the best!"

"Look out!"

Takuya shoved Xia Luo aside as another wave of wraiths attacked, engaging them in yet another drawn-out brawl.

Xia Luo: "..."

What a lunatic.

Ignoring Takuya's antics, Xia Luo resumed his search.

Finally, at the end of the tunnel, he found something suspicious—a massive stone door, over 30 meters tall.

Carved with eerie hellish symbols, the door bore what seemed to be a numerical inscription.

"Could this be…?"

Xia Luo guessed it might house Mephisto's collection of souls.

Bending his knees, Xia Luo gathered his strength and punched the door with a force of 200 tons. The resulting shockwave pulverized the surrounding stone walls.

BOOM!

As the dust settled, Xia Luo stared at the door, completely unharmed.

Silence.

"What are you doing?"

Takuya appeared behind him, watching Xia Luo "reflect on his actions" before casually pushing the door open.

"Want to head in together?"

Xia Luo clutched his chest in disbelief.

"How… How did you do that?"

"There's a switch here," Takuya said, pointing to a groove on the door. "Is this how you always open doors?"

Glancing at the metallic fragments on Xia Luo's knuckles, Takuya shook his head.

This Spider-Man didn't seem very bright.
