Demon’s cruelty
On the third day the sky cleared up and leon could finally get back to his extermination plan. 'but first to review my work.' he thought stretching his wings out and walking off the side of the building. five minutes later leon was a good three miles over the city were he could easily the charred quarter of the city that only had maybe a handful of grim return to it which he was fine with. if the void he created was so easily filled he probably would have just gave up on the plan since it meant there were more grim at mount glen than he thought.
'I'll go kill those few grim myself before waiting for nightfall when the grim become more active to torch another quarter of the streets.' leon decided mentally before swooping down like a bird of prey. the rear beowolf of this pack didn't even know what happened as leon speared it through the throat killing it quietly. wasting no time leon hovered silently behind the next grim and repeating the process. soon only the last beowolf was left of the ten that was in the area originally and it couldn't figure out where the rest of it's pack went.
Leon playfully tapped on the grims shoulder and when it turned around his speared it in the front of its throat while making eye contact. the beowolf sputtered and coughed black sludge-like blood when it tried to howl to gather more grim and leon merely smirked maliciously. "hard to make noise with a hole in your esophagus am i right?" he asked casually and the grim just bore it's fangs at him. "no need to look at me like that , i even left you alive to go tell the others how i killed your whole pack without you knowing." leon said with a smile.
The beowolf took a caution step back to test leon but when he didn't even flinch the thing took the chance to flee. it only got ten yards away when it's body jerked forward and it felt a burning pain in its chest. looking down it saw a spear head sticking out of its chest. "i love it when you monsters think i'm giving you hope only to let me take it away again, its like candy to me." was the last thing the grim heard before dissipating.
Leon lived up to his self imposed path perfectly by seeming downright despicable when he tricked and tortured grim , all with a smile on his face. leon even purposefully allowed a few "witnesses" to escape in order to hopefully spread terror to the other grim. it worked too as the scenes of leon's terrible cruelty towards the grim just recently reached salem. despite her many years of orchestrating tragedies salem was a firm believer of quick deaths. as a result seeing leon pulling off the skin of grim while sprinkling salt over the flesh below it along with the countless creative tortures he inflicted deeply disturbed her.
What bothered her was how clear it was that leon was aware of his audience and how he even spoke to them a few times telling them to spread the story. salem had seen cruel or psychotic people during her extremely long life , her servant tyrion was one such person after all. but she could tell that leon was a whole different breed of creature , he was unreasonably cruel to the grim but she could tell it was not what defined him. salem could see the abyss in leons eyes , not an empty thing but one wanting to devour those foolish enough to stare into it.
It was a terrible and yet playful and mischievous thing , a contradiction that she had never seen in a person. to her leon was hot , cold , cruel and bright like he simply flipped between states of personality like there was no issue at all. he was unknowable and that made him attractive to her who had seen the entire world evolve back to where it was now. something beyond her knowledge was rare beyond all belief but she knew without a doubt leon would never join her since she commanded the grim.
