REINCARNATION PARADISE

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: The Terrifying Mental Power System

After some searching, Su Xiao selected a residence, and by the afternoon, he arrived at the neighborhood where it was located.

This was a slightly old community on the outskirts of the city. Despite its age, the transportation was relatively convenient.

The neighborhood had a quiet, almost deserted feel to it, with only a few elderly people gathered together, playing chess.

Old neighborhoods like this one were often home to many elderly people, but the greenery was quite nice. Compared to the polluted air in the city center, the air here was much fresher.

From a distance, Su Xiao spotted a young man in a suit, looking as if he was waiting for someone. The man glanced at his watch now and then.

Su Xiao approached, and the young man noticed him, his eyes lighting up as he quickly stepped forward.

"Hello, are you Mr. Su? I'm Xiao Ji, an agent from Sunshine Housing."

Su Xiao nodded. He was now going by the alias "Su Xiao"—a legal identity complete with proper documentation like ID cards. Everything from his train tickets to his phone plan was registered under this identity.

In today's world, it's impossible to move freely without legal identification.

"Yes, that's me. Let's go check out the apartment."

Agent Xiao Ji's attitude became even more enthusiastic, and he began introducing the property eagerly.

"Mr. Su, not to exaggerate, but 800 yuan per month is an amazing deal. Given the rising property prices in DL City, if you're financially flexible, buying this place could be a great investment..."

As the agent continued his pitch, Su Xiao smiled politely.

He had no intention of buying this place. As a wanted man, who knew how long he could stay here? He had to be ready to flee at any moment.

From what Su Xiao had observed, the Reincarnation Paradise didn't seem to want contractors like him interfering too much in the real world. It might be their foundational rule.

Most contractors probably came from the real world, which is why Reincarnation Paradise would discourage them from meddling in it.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, they arrived at the door of the apartment.

"This is the one, Mr. Su. Please, take a look."

Xiao Ji opened the door, but his movements were quick, almost rushed, as if he was in a hurry.

"Do you have something urgent to take care of?"

Su Xiao noticed the agent's anxious expression, though there didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary.

"Not at all, just need to use the restroom. Sorry about that, Mr. Su."

Su Xiao stepped into the apartment. A spacious living room greeted him, well-decorated and cozy—a comfortable place to settle down.

After inspecting the apartment, Su Xiao found it well-ventilated and sunny, with all the necessary amenities. He could move in immediately without needing anything else.

Knocking on the walls, he judged the thickness. The walls in old neighborhoods like this were generally thick, which meant excellent soundproofing.

"Not bad, I'll take it."

Xiao Ji's face lit up with joy—this was a solid sale.

"Great! Mr. Su, since the price is quite low, we require a minimum one-year lease. Here's the contract; please take a look."

Su Xiao reviewed the contract. Everything seemed fine. After paying and signing, the apartment was officially his.

Once everything was settled, Xiao Ji politely said goodbye, but then his next actions seemed a bit strange.

Before leaving, Xiao Ji carefully opened the door, checking the hallway to ensure no one was there before quickly walking away.

Su Xiao found this curious. He had already sensed something odd about the agent earlier.

Now, it seemed the problem wasn't with the apartment, but rather someone else living in the building who had frightened the agent.

"Interesting."

Su Xiao chuckled. Earlier, he had encountered that bizarre property listing with a 100,000 yuan

monthly rent. Now, he had rented a place in a neighborhood that seemed far from ordinary.

But Su Xiao wasn't concerned. He was a wanted man himself—what did he have to fear from others? That would be ridiculous.

Sitting down on the couch in the living room, Su Xiao suddenly found himself at a loss for what to do.

He had already killed the last of his known enemies, and he was now far from home. His quest for revenge would have to wait, something he could do nothing about for now.

Although he now had inhuman strength, that didn't mean he could act recklessly.

Revenge wasn't something done impulsively. He had already waited three years; he could afford to wait a little longer.

Besides, Su Xiao believed that as his power grew, the methods he could use to find his remaining enemies would increase as well.

After calming down, Su Xiao began planning his next steps.

Now that he had a stable place to stay, his next priority was to wait for Reincarnation Paradise to summon him again so he could continue strengthening himself.

Just then, his phone buzzed—it was an incoming call. He always kept his phone on silent.

Looking at the screen, the caller ID was "Unknown Number." Su Xiao answered but remained silent.

"Hey, buddy. I've been waiting for you. Why haven't you shown up yet?"

Su Xiao narrowed his eyes. It was the voice of the man from the 100,000 yuan rent listing.

"Renting from you is too much trouble. Goodbye."

With that, Su Xiao was about to hang up.

"Wait!" The voice on the other end suddenly grew anxious, and Su Xiao hesitated for a moment.

"Hey, we're both risking our lives in the Paradise. How about we meet?"

Su Xiao stood up abruptly. The "Paradise" mentioned could only refer to the Reincarnation Paradise.

"Not interested."

Su Xiao's voice was calm, but he suddenly realized something strange—why had he even called that number in the first place?

Although he wasn't short on money, a 100,000 yuan rent seemed ridiculous. He wasn't someone who would just throw money away.

His thoughts raced, and it hit him—there was something wrong with that rental ad. He had somehow been compelled to make that call, thinking, at the time, that 100,000 yuan wasn't too bad for what must be a great property.

But now, looking back, it was absurd.

Was it hypnosis? No, Su Xiao quickly dismissed that. He had encountered hypnosis before—it wasn't this powerful. The ad must have used some form of psychological suggestion.

"Don't push your luck. If you don't come see me soon, I'll find you and take you down."

The man on the phone had begun making blatant threats.

"The howls of a dying dog." Su Xiao replied coldly. "Save your threats for when you have someone under your boot, not over the phone."

With that, he hung up, unconcerned about the man tracking his location.

The phone he was using was a high-end model he had paid a lot for, equipped with anti-tracking technology.

Meanwhile, in a rural courtyard on the outskirts of town, a shirtless, muscular man sat on a low stool, his face twisted in anger as he gripped the phone tightly.

"Hey, Old Five, has the tracker found his location yet?"

The burly man roared, the scars on his face stretching with his fury.

A scrawny figure darted out of a nearby house in response.

"Boss, this guy's no ordinary target. His phone is untraceable—could be military-grade. HQ told us to give up."

The scarred man's expression grew darker.

"Give up? Do you know how much I paid for that ad? A full 10,000 Reincarnation Coins! Those mental-type mages are total rip-offs."

Though he grumbled, the scarred man was starting to give up on pursuing Su Xiao.

The ad was only visible to contractors, and those with over 20 points in Intelligence could resist its effects. Since Su Xiao had only called once, it meant his Intelligence was probably high.

If Su Xiao was a "magic caster"… the thought sent a shiver down the scarred man's spine. He didn't want to provoke someone like that.

Ever since Su Xiao signed his contract with Reincarnation Paradise, the true nature of the real world had begun revealing itself to him.

Though Reincarnation Paradise discouraged contractors from interfering with the real world, the lure of massive rewards still tempted some to take risks.

What they didn't know was that within Reincarnation Paradise, there existed a type of entity known as "Hunters," whose sole purpose was to deal with those who crossed the line.

And when the time came, they would be facing a blue-flame-spitting Gatling gun.
