Chapter 262: Probing
Shortly after leaving the Adventure Association, Xu Feng rushed toward the central area, which had his hotel and the Teleportation Platform nearby.
As he dashed ahead, Xu Feng noticed the crowd was not only getting smaller but actually bigger and bigger.
Occasionally, he would even hear some grumbling from the NPCs.
"Just what is the hotel owner doing?"
"Do they think we're poor people and can't afford to rent a room in their hotel?"
"I don't know, but if the hotel owner refuses to open the hotel for us… I'm going to file a complaint at the City Hall."
When Xu Feng heard some of them threatening to file a complaint against him through the City Hall, he was speechless.
'Jessica definitely waited until the crowd became so agitated before informing me of this matter.' Xu Feng thought, feeling that she was playing him.
Nevertheless, Xu Feng still decided to inquire with some of the NPCs to gather some information.
"Excuse me, but how long did you wait?" Xu Feng asked a man who looked no older than 24.
The man, upon being asked how long he had waited for, was infuriated. "I've been waiting for almost half an hour already. I just don't understand what the hotel owner was thinking? We're all wealthy customers."
It was clear the man was enraged by the hotel owner for making him stay outside for so long and wasn't at Xu Feng.
Putting up a consolation expression, Xu Feng grumbled, "I can't believe the owner is toying with us. I plan on renting their room with 10 silver coins. Now I'm thinking about returning to my city first."
"10 silver coins? You must be kidding, right?" The man laughed as he glanced at Xu Feng with a sympathetic expression. Your next read awaits at M-V-L
"Earlier, a person had shouted they would rent it for 30 silver coins per night. Since everyone came from afar, the traveling fee would be expensive if they were to return to their location."
"30 silver coins? How am I supposed to get a room then?" Xu Feng exclaimed in shock. At the same time, he recalled his hotel only had four floors, with each floor housing only 30 rooms.
This was equivalent to only having 120 rooms available for rent, but based on the crowd of people, he doubted it was even enough to see half of them renting one.
Yet each of them seemed willing to pay up to 30 silver coins. With that in mind, Xu Feng made a quick calculation if all 120 rooms were rented out for 30 silver coins.
That would total up to 3600 silver coins or 36 gold coins.
Additionally, that was only for one night, so if they rented for more than a night, he could easily rake in more than 100 gold coins after a few days.
However, Xu Feng's astonishment had yet to dissipate when the man continued.
"I can see you've just recently arrived here thinking 10 silver coins are enough."
"Yeah, I have just arrived from Heartveil City."
"Heartveil City? That's like at least 5 teleportations you need from here."
Xu Feng smiled bitterly on the surface but laughed inwardly.
Heartveil City was a city that was more vibrant than Star Falls City, but its location was quite far.
He merely blabbered a random city to probe for more information.
By proclaiming to be somewhere far away, he wanted to gauge how much further these NPCs had come from.
Meanwhile, the man sighed and shook his head.
"Even though Heartveil City is quite far from here, there are many others further. I'll be honest with you. I doubt 30 silver coins are enough, given some of them are from wealthy families. I believe only those offering gold coins could get a room in the hotel." The man explained helplessly.
"What? Is this hotel even worth a gold coin to rent a room?" Alarmed, Xu Feng was in disbelief. "Does the hotel owner take us for a fat sheep to slaughter? If he dares to take a gold coin for the renting fee, then I will thrash them personally."
"You don't understand, little brother. This is about having a comfortable sleep and a calm mindset. The hotel is the best place for rest and helps us retain our concentration at its peak."
"But that's a gold coin we're talking about!"
"Yeah, but so what? Most of them traveled here and paid way more than 1 gold coin in traveling fees. There's no way they would return to their city. As for finding another place to rest here? There are no other hotels, and the taverns are horseshit compared to this brand-new hotel."
Nodding, Xu Feng agreed with the man's talk.
At the same time, he was inwardly gleeful about how much information he had probed.
Right at this moment, someone in the front started shouting in fury.
"Hotel Owner inside! Listen up, I'm willing to pay 3 gold coins for a room, so open it for me. I need to rest so that I can concentrate fully on the competition."
"Insane, that person is insane!"
The man exclaimed in horror upon hearing the price. As he turned around, trying to see Xu Feng's reaction, he was dazed. "Eh, where did the little brother go? It can't be that he really returned to his city…?"
Contrary to the man's belief, Xu Feng had already left the scene after the commotion.
He donned a mask and secretly headed to the backdoor of the hotel.
'Someone wants to offer 3 gold coins eh. I'll be a fool to set a fixed price for rent.' Xu Feng inwardly sneered, having decided to do the best thing possible was to slaughter these fat sheeps altogether.
How was he going to slaughter them?
The answer was quite simple, and it was none other than auctioning the room!
By auctioning the room out, only the highest bidder could rent a room, and to be the highest bidder, one must be prepared to cough up a ton of money.
