Reincarnated Cat Becomes a Magical Beast

Chapter 50: Entering Skyview City

Unfortunately for Jonathan, he was promptly defeated once more. In fact, Jonathan seemed to perform even worse than last time despite having broke through to the Spirit Rank. This made sense though, as it had yet to be even a day since his breakthrough took place and he had not had enough time to fully adjust himself to his new state.

Amidst Uncle Kil's torturous bragging, everyone worked their way onto either of the two White Furred Mountain Dog's and set off. Delayed by Jonathan and Uncle Kil's little scuffle, morning had now long passed.

While riding one of the White Furred Mountain Dog's, the little kitten spent her time thanking the gods when she didn't experience any motion sickness like she always would when teleporting.

At a steady but quick pace, the Wilderwolf party travelled leisurely through the hills of Falcio's Northern region in a peaceful manner. To her right, the little kitten could see an endless landscape of mountains and to her left, grassy and rocky hills with a few forests darting the horizon. Every hour or so, the little kitten would also notice small towns and cities every now and then with rocky houses and farmland.

Finally, after the sun had long set and a crescent moon had risen amongst grey clouds, the little kitten's eyes saw their first glimpse of a large, sprawling city off in the far horizon.

"It's quite different to Evergale City, isn't it?" Jonathan spoke up as he stroked her soft, silver fur.

The little kitten looked on dazed for a few seconds before nodding.

The city before them, Skyview City, was situated upon a massive hill. Buildings of various sizes and shapes flowed up its curvature, coloured in earthly colours. The city was definitely as big, if not bigger than Falcio's biggest city in the Eastern regions, Evergale City. At the tip of the cities large hill, a large tower stood, pointing towards the sky, looking majestic and breathtaking.

At the cities rim was a long wall that seemed to be made out of stone, quite the contrast to the metallic walls of Evergale. Meanwhile, further outside of the cities stone walls were long stretches of farmland, covering as far as the eye can see all around Skyview City, it wasn't long till they were in the midst of those farmlands and yet they were still a good few miles from the city yet.

As the little kitten and the rest got closer and closer to the city, they passed several fields which grew a variety of goods that the little kitten couldn't name. They looked both similar to some of the food she had seen in her old world while also looking bizarrely different at the same time. Such as trees that grew an apple like fruit, except it was yellow with pink spots or she saw a farm that herded an animal that looked alike to a cow, but was of a bronze colour and had a fiery red mane upon its head and down its obtuse back.

"It's been a while since I've been here." Jonathan smiled. "I remember the Academy took us on a tour of these farms when I was really young. I also remember seeing the Caves of the Mother."

"?" The little kitten turned to face Jonathan, who was sat just behind her and tilted her head in his direction. 'What are the Caves of the Mother?'

"Ah, the Caves of the Mother is the most famous landscape of Skyview City." Jonathan quickly understood the kitten's inquiry.

"I've always found it rather funny how the biggest feature of a place called Skyview City is located underground. Weird that." Uncle Kil interrupted, chuckling.

"As Uncle hinted at, the Caves of the Mother are a series of tunnels beneath Skyview City that has a long stretch of ancient text that act much like an Echo Stone, showing its viewers mystical visions that has yet to be fully understood, even by the most powerful of Magician's. The place is most useful for Magician's who prioritise the Earth Element." Jonathan helpfully explained.

"The Element of Earth is often compared to a mother figure, as soil births fruit, trees, crops and so on. This is where the name, Cave of Mother originates from." Uncle Kil further explained. "In fact, there are quite a few elements which are often compared to being like a mother, like the elements of wood, nature and even the Holy Element of Creation."

"Alright, enough chit chat. We're about there." Jonathan cut the conversation to a close as he pointed forward.

Looking ahead, the little kitten noticed that indeed, they were now quite near the stone walls that surrounded the perimeter of Skyview City.

"Thankfully, its still early in the night, else the City Guards may not have let us in otherwise." Uncle Kil sighed in relief.

Getting a closer view, the little kitten could now see how domineeringly large these stone walls truly were. She also noticed that despite being made out of purely stone, the wall was impeccably smooth, without a single crack. She also felt like their was something about these walls that was more than meets the eye, but she couldn't make out what that was.

'I bet there's some magic at play here.' The little kitten pondered about this anomaly she felt.

Along the stone wall facing them, there were three large stone gates that were only slightly smaller than the walls full height. These gates were spread out at a good half-a-mile distance from each other.

The White Furred Mountain Dog's walked leisurely towards the centre most gate.

This centre most gate was slightly open, allowing enough room for carriages and beast's of the White Furred Mountain's dogs' like to enter. In front of the gates was a small line of people, looking like normal civilians. And in front of these civilians, were a group of six guards.

The guards were dressed uniformly in a light armour and held weapons such as swords, spears, bows and others at their sides. They all held a stoic expression as they dealt with the line of people entering their city in a patient manner. In a few of the guards' hands were a bundle of paper which they would look at rather often, studying several of the papers quite intently. From the bending of the paper in one of the guards' hands, the little kitten got a good peak at one of the papers' contents. What the kitten saw was the drawn portrait of a menacing looking man with a nasty scar that ran across his nose and cheeks.

"That's a list of the Kingdom's most wanted criminals." Jonathan explained when he noticed the kitten's interest.

Now understanding, the little kitten nodded in reply to Jonathan.

When their White Furred Mountain Dogs drew near, two of the guards split from the rest of their group and headed in their direction. They looked vigilant, but non-aggressive as they did so.

"Are you Magician's." One of the guards asked, eyeing the two White Furred Mountain Dogs. It was more common for Magician's to ride beast's as normal or weak Magician's usually feared riding beast's like these in case they rebelled, even if that was unlikely.

"Yes, I'm Kil Wilderwolf and this is my Nephew, Jonathan Wilderwolf. We require entry into this fine city." Uncle Kil pointed with his thumb at Jonathan as his lips formed a gentle smile. It was best to act on your best behaviour when dealing with these kinds of conversation's, lest you draw unnecessary trouble.

"Oh, the Wilderwolf family?" The guard's stoic temperament instantly warmed a little. "I've long heard of Kil Wilderwolf, as well as the young genius Magician, Jonathan Wilderwolf."

"I've also long admired your esteemed self. However, I'm afraid that we are still required to test your cultivation level on the Black Divination Pearl for free entry." The other guard spoke apologetically as he pointed at a black spherical object behind himself. The black pearl rested neatly on a white pillar.

"That's fine." Uncle Kil waved it off and leapt off from the White Furred Mountain Dog before walking up to the Black Divination Pearl, where upon he placed his hands in a casual manner.

After successfully proving himself to be a Spirit Ranked Magician, the two guards kindly gestured towards the stone gates and bowed.

"We two guards welcome your humble sirs to Skyview City." The two spoke in parallel. One could see from their behaviour towards Uncle Kil how well those that have reached the Rank of Spirit are treated in the Kingdom of Falcio. This kind of treatment really boosted the little kitten's desire to advance quickly towards the Major Transcendence Rank.

"Hmm." Uncle Kil nodded before waving over the two White Furred Mountain Dog's to follow him as he walked passed the City Gates to the city beyond.
