Chapter 7: Martial art style I (Edited)
Due to Namike's continuous practice underwater and helping out Grandpa Gohan, Namike was able to quickly get used to the feeble balance a baby has and now can walk with four legs for an hour. (Clapping noises)
Namike has a sneaking suspicion that Grandpa Gohan might have found out about his morning swims, but he still couldn't speak, so he buried them deep in his heart for now. His cooking and processing skills advanced to level 3, but his dissection skill remained at level 2. Namike felt his hand-to-eye coordination and knowledge increase, resulting in him adapting faster to his own body.
Now you may be saying, "I thought he already had full control of his body," which you are fully correct on; however, he still had the clumsiness of a baby and the infamous jelly legs of a toddler, which Namike avoided by flying slightly above the ground. He trained secretly before swimming and before he fell asleep as he found it the best exhausting thing to do to fall asleep.
Moving on, It was a bright morning as Namike familiarly entered the pond. He saw through the coral areas and dove deeper until the surroundings dimmed. Namike swam around for the past few days and discovered an area with weaker opponents than him where he can practice his combat abilities. He was lucky on his first opponent as the only advantage it had were its tough gills and fast swimming which Namike easily handled.
The small dragon noticed his prey, which was a big fish twice his size. The fish didn't seem to sense the little dragon, as the dragon's scales were like camouflage. The scales seemed to make the dragon silent as he swam to one side and observed when the fish became careless. After waiting some time, the fish ate some seaweed when it suddenly saw a flash of blue before realising its tail fins had been cut off. The fish attempted to flee, but the dragon grabbed its now-finless tail and dragged it above water against its will. The fish vanished once the dragon revealed its scales above the water.
Namike felt a slight headache but continued on as he had more stuff to do. The strain of bringing something into his world decreases as he gets used to it. He theorised that someday he may be able to store a planet in his mind realm without any aftereffects in the future, but he has a long journey ahead of him.
He flew back into the house, where the sunlight had been blocked by a curtain Namike had made from some leaves when he had spare time. It added a cosy feeling to the small house as it was no longer wide open. He opened the curtains as a monkey screeched out, which woke up the elderly man sleeping on the bed on the ground.
Namike was thankful for Grandpa Gohan's kindness in allowing him to live there, as it was already cramped with just him and Goku. Namike and Goku slept together, which allowed Grandpa Gohan to sleep on the bed. He was planning on making another bed once he got the materials. His plan was to make wool beds using sheep but he has no clue on where they could find them. He knew that spiders could make blankets and more silk products but he hadn't discovered any nearby or found them friendly.
Namike quickly bonked Goku to quiet him, which made him awake and start fighting with Namike. Usually, Namike’s power level suggests he only needs a finger to completely defeat Goku, but it appeared that Goku and Namike were evenly matched. Namike was able to predict where Goku would strike, but Goku seemed to constantly change his intentions, making it more of a fight on battle instinct, which Goku is dominating for now. Namike lasts for a while due to his vastly higher speed and strength. It ended in a tie, with Namike slightly ahead.
Both Goku and Namike were too exhausted due to Namike doing some fishing and him being 11 days old, while Goku had to take every one of Namike's punches, unlike Namike, who dodged his. They both fell on top of the bed while Grandpa Gohan stretched and yawned like this was a common occurrence.
Namike and Goku both had a competition to see who would bow down to the loser this past week. The loser becomes the winner's servant for that day. Since Namike won twice in a row, Goku trained secretly and was able to also win twice. Namike was devastated at the loss, so he decided to train more while swimming and was able to draw with Goku, which led to this situation. Goku had to help Namike with making things while Namike had to be the stead of Goku when they made each other servants.
Goku's power level increased to half Namike's level through the Zenkai boosts, while his battle instinct seems to be slowly awakening. Namike, on the other hand, is gaining control, allowing him to use more of his power while developing his dragon's instinct. It was only the past 2 days that they have tied with each other which led to them developing a friendlier and brotherly bond through their constant fights and not using each other as servants.
While Grandpa Gohan was walking out of the hut, he decided to teach them both martial arts while training himself, as he didn't want to fall behind. He also decided to call him Namike Kid for the time being, which makes Namike happy because he is not named after an undergarment or a vegetable which was the common trend in Dragon Ball.
Both Namike and Goku got tired quickly from fighting intensely, so they both laid down on their beds to rest. Namike, although physically tired, was mentally more powerful. Once he found Goku asleep, he went to his mind realm, where a small land of dirt could be seen. The small plot of dirt had a pit with leaves covering it above, which looked ominous as all the leaves were blood red. There was another area where a small pond was just big enough to fit the big fish that he caught in the morning.
Namike went over and pulled the big fish out, which seemed to be shaken in fear at the things he had seen; however, he stopped shaking once Namike cut off its head with a knife from the dissection set. Namike decided to skin the fish and throw all the waste into the area for future use. Normally there might be an infestation of insects; however, the mind realm preserves the structure of everything within, which includes chopped pieces of fish and some of the plants Namike planted by the pond. So yes, there are no zombie fish heads forming a hive mind due to a grudge against Namike.
He left the now-skinned and drained fish by the side of the pit, alongside two other fully-skinned fish. He exited his mental realm immediately after mentally counting until his brain felt a slight headache. He thought he was there for 20 minutes, but he was only there for 8 minutes. He woke up from his fake sleep as his body fully recovered and went out to see Grandpa Gohan practising his skills on some wooden pillars Namike had made for training.
Namike was able to see Goku’s movement, which seemed to carry a trace of the skills Namike uses. He determined that Grandpa Gohan should be more powerful than Roshi, despite Roshi being the grandmaster of martial arts.
Roshi spotted Namike and decided to stop his training.
“Kid, today is a special day."
"It is the day you and Goku both learn martial arts from me and how to survive in the world.”
“Kuuu-uuu?” (Say what now?)
“Go wake up Goku, and after eating breakfast, I will teach you my martial arts.”
“Kuu,” (Okay). Namike said, trying to hide the excitement on his small face.
Namike went over to wake up Goku and helped out with cooking a standard egg and toast with some side dishes of vegetables. Namike and Goku both didn't like eating vegetables, but only after some force from Gohan did they both try them. Grandpa Gohan's experience combined with Namike's superior skill allowed the vegetables to convert a cannibal into a vegan. Everyone at the small table had their clothes ripped off their bodies (metaphorically) and released a hot breath of steam that lingered in the air. The next scene shows multiple tigers devouring a single lamb, with Grandpa Gohan only taking half of the food while Goku and Namike compete for a larger portion of the food.
More next time on Reincarnated as Shenron’s descendant.
