Rehabilitating the Villainess

Chapter 97: A Potion for Love (2)

And now, considering the minimal exchange that was abruptly cut off, the damage to the Mage Tower must be substantial.

Certainly, the same holds true for the Azbel family. I couldn’t fathom why Duke Jespen terminated the exchange even at his own expense.

When I directed a questioning gaze at Duke Jespen, seeking further clarification, he responded.

“I heard that the prince is very interested in mana stones. So I collected all the mana stones exported to the imperial family.”

“Can I ask why you suddenly did that?”

“You’d better ask Shael about the details. Oh, check the letter in the office, too.”

Abandoning the deal between the Mage Tower and the Imperial Family was advantageous for me, given my intense dislike for the Mage Tower Lord and the Crown Prince. Yet, Duke Jespen’s actions puzzled me.

Following Duke Jespen’s suggestion, I went to the office.

A substantial amount of gold coins and two letters lay there.

‘The senders… the Mage Tower Lord and the Crown Prince?’

Nervously, I opened the letter. As I hastily read the contents, I found, once again, only incomprehensible text.

‘A payment for the cure for blood clotting disease? When did I asked for that?’

However, it was clearly written in the letter that I had requested a fee.

Although I needed the money, my conscience stung. Contrary to the letter’s claim, I had no intention of creating a cure.

‘Still, if the other person is the Mage Tower Lord and the Crown Prince, the story will be different.’

It was rather convenient.

I even felt a sense of relief even thought those two clowns must have been angry with me. Those two believed that I could manufacture a cure, so they probably wouldn’t bother me. Still, I needed to find out how things were unfolding.

Naturally, the cause must have been Shael.

Straight back to the room where Shael was sleeping, I observed her peaceful slumber.

I didn’t wake her up, and with my back to the sleeping Shael, I gazed out the window and contemplated my future.

The Imperial Festival was two days away. Since I was inebriated and slept for an extended period, I had roughly one and a half day remaining.

I felt a bit nervous.

My revenge against the female and male main characters in the novel would commence at the Imperial Festival.

The anticipated tension, expected to linger for hours, dissipated quickly due to the warmth I felt behind me.

Shael was embracing me from behind. Although she usually did so, today Shael’s hug felt refreshing.

“Are you awake?”

“Don’t worry.”

‘Don’t worry?’

It certainly wasn’t the response I was expecting for my question.

“Because I will punish the Mage Tower Lord and the Crown Prince somehow.”

I was convinced by Shael’s words. It was evident that I had made a mistake while I was drunk.

‘I must have expressed my feelings of unfairness toward the Crown Prince and the Mage Tower Lord.’

Even now, I didn’t like the Crown Prince and the Mage Tower Lord. If things went awry, they would be completely obsessed with Clie, and they might come to harm me.

Of course, that was unacceptable.

The focus of my concern was Shael. I was so enraged that my body shuddered just thinking about what Clie had done to the Azbel Mansion in the alternate timeline. So, if I were drunk, it wouldn’t be strange if I cursed at the Mage Tower Lord and the Crown Prince.

“I think I spouted strange lies while I was drunk.”

I felt relieved thanks to Shael, who promised to punish them. However, I couldn’t leave it like that.

Until the plan was over, we shouldn’t offend the Mage Tower Lord and the Crown Prince as much as possible.

Duke Jespen’s severing of communication with the Mage Tower and the imperial family was also related to this, so the Azbel family would suffer a loss.

“Don’t lie.” Shael hugged me tighter.

I gave up talking about it. Even if I said it, Shael wouldn’t change her mind. Because Shael, who was usually ignorant, was quick to notice at times like this.

Still, it wasn’t too bad. It was as if the stress I had endured so far was blown away by Shael’s embrace.

“You seem to be having a hard time even in your dreams.”

I laughed when I thought of Shael, who must have been worried while watching me sleep. But this time, Shael’s worries were misplaced.

“Don’t worry. In my dream, I robbed the money bag again.”

“Is that so?”

“Every time when I said something, she put a gold coin in my hand.”

As if she didn’t like that I had a dream involving another woman, Shael who was holding me and pinched my arm.

“You seem to be meeting her too much. That money bag might fall in love with you.”

That won’t happen. Because I took so much money from her.

I laughed at Shael’s cute jealousy.

For a while, we conversed, and Shael healed my heart.
