Indeed, a difference of thirty years was mad[T/N: Apparently Old patriarch Ye can’t do basic math…].

Though Alphas generally lived longer lives, they had a clear aging period as well. From the age of 18, when they become adults, to the age of 68, any Alpha would feel the effects of aging no matter how strong they were. Even if it wasn’t obvious from their appearance, their fertility would gradually decline until its end. At most, an Alpha could be fertile up to the age of around 73, and then they would no longer be able to impregnate an Omega.

Even though many important leaders worked to the age of 88 before retiring, some military personnel would retire even earlier due to their long years of training. Usually, those Alphas would work to the ripe old age of 80 before living out their lives in retirement.

Take Old Patriarch Ye for example. Currently, at the age of 78, that man was already living out the rest of his life at home, repaying the overdue debts of his sins through his children[T/N: Basically saying that the retribution for your sins early in your life is achieved through how much your kids destroy you later.].

Ye Xin had just turned 20 this year, the best years of a young man’s life, while Lin Su was already 50 years old. He was more than twice Ye Xin’s age, so he could seriously be his father.

Even so, Ye Xin actually fell in love with Lin Su, which made Old Patriarch Ye so pissed that he was almost bursting with rage.

It was true that a fifty-year-old Alpha was still in his prime, and still had much to offer, especially since Lin Su had risen to the position of great general. In status and manner, he was one of the best, but the problem was the huge gap between his and Ye Xin’s age! It completely challenged Old Patriarch Ye’s feeble nerves.

If Ye Xin was not the Ye family’s child, and only an ordinary Omega, then he would not think much if he married Lin Su. Maybe outsiders would gossip a little about it, and maybe someone might even feel a little jealous—after all, for an old man to be able to get himself a young man was like flying up into the sky and becoming a phoenix or something.

However, Ye Xin wasn’t any ordinary person! He was the fourth son of the Ye family! The carefully nurtured, well-loved child of the Ye family! He arranged the best marriage for him, found him the most outstanding Alpha, paving his future firmly for him, but he’s head over heels wanting to marry that fifty-year-old man!

Old Patriarch Ye only felt pity that he shaved his beard like his old partner had asked! Otherwise, he would still be able to blow on it to show his disdain and give him a glare!

In fact, there was another reason causing Ye Xuan to be so angry. Lin Su came out of the Ye family as a humble young boy before reaching success. After being named great general, he was now a rising noble in the Galactic Federation and his name was loud and reputable.

Lin Su had always been grateful and always remembered the kindness he owed Ye Xuan, and he also respected him very much. He had always been very courteous with him.

Despite that, he and Ye Xuan drifted apart in recent years. The most promising child of the Ye family was gone, leaving behind a bunch of bastards. With that declining trend in sight, the thousand-year-old family stilled for a while. Seeing the rise of a new noble with such pride made Ye Xuan feel particularly displeased.

He really wished he could draw a clear line with Lin Su, but who knew that his own son would go and backstab him!

If he really let them be, what would the people outside say about them?

It wasn’t as bad if anyone said he roped in a nouveau riche, but what he’s worried about was being accused of selling his child for his own glory! If that happened, Ye Xuan would just buy himself a coffin and knock himself dead!

Besides, even if none of that mattered to him, it’s not like he could just push his son into the fire!

So that’s why he couldn’t let Ye Xin mess around no matter what.

When Qin Mo and Shi Qing came in, Old Patriarch Ye had already scolded him right in the face. Ye Xin had quite a temper. He was only ever soft to Lin Su in his life, but if he was expected to humble himself in front of anyone, they might as well just ask for his life.

So, even if he was scolded to the heavens by Old Patriarch Ye, he just said, “I just want to be with Lin Su! So what!”

Old Patriarch Ye was furious and he threw out, “You can be clingy all you want! But will he even accept you?!”

Then, Ye Xin’s face turned pale, and the room also turned silent in an instant.

Ye Xuan realized himself that he’d said too much. What’s more, all his children were so dear to him that he hardly ever said any harsh words to any of them. It was only his anger that pushed him to speak so bluntly.

After he said that, he regretted it, but Ye Xin was also stubborn. He was stubborn enough that even ten oxen would not be able to move him. He actually gritted his teeth and said with his face still pale, “If he doesn’t want me, then I’ll just die!”

That sentence resulted in Ye Xuan exploding completely. It caused the regret that rushed up inside of him to flutter away as he shook his finger at him. He was so angry that he could not speak, only being able to muster, “You…you…you…”

At that, Shi Qing quickly came forward to pat the old man’s back and said, “Don’t be angry, dad. Please watch your health.”

After taking a few breaths, it was thanks to how sturdy Old Patriarch Ye was at his age that he held on. Even so, Shi Qing didn’t dare to let him stay here any longer and quickly helped him back into his room to rest.

Ye Xuan did not insist on staying either, and left with Shi Qing. After heading into the room and getting into bed, Old Patriarch Ye sighed.

Seeing him like that, Shi Qing did feel a little sad, to be honest. After all, he was just a father wanting the best for his son, and seeing Ye Xuan like that reminded him of his own father, which made him take care of him even more attentively.

Having his mood repaired by his youngest son, Ye Xuan finally got over it. Thinking of how he neglected this child, he began to feel guilty again and could not help himself in speaking softly, “Child, you’re such a good child, Xiao Qing.”

Shi Qing felt a little awkward so he just smiled.

Ye Xuan continued, “I’m fine now. You’ve always had a good relationship with that kid, so try to persuade him as much as you can. It’s impossible for Lin Su. Definitely impossible!”

Seeing that Ye Xuan was about to start again, Shi Qing quickly responded, “Alright. I’ll go speak to him, so you should rest.”

After leaving, Shi Qing saw his third brother as soon as he left the room.

“Third…” Seeing the ‘off’ expression on his face, Shi Qing quickly changed his words. “Uh…Brother.”

Qin Mo was satisfied. He came closer and took his hand, saying, “Are you hungry? Let’s go eat.”

Shi Qing was still worrying over Ye Xin so he couldn’t help but ask, “Is Fourth Brother still in the living room?”

Qin Mo frowned slightly and he said, dissatisfied, “What’re you caring about him for?”

Shi Qing, “…” he was seriously speechless!

Even though it was a question, it clearly wasn’t one that needed an answer, so Shi Qing said, “I’ll go check on him.”

Qin Mo was going to stop him, but then he seemed to have thought of something else and said, “Come on, I’ll go with you.”

There was some distance from the bedroom to the living room, so the two walked side by side while holding hands. It seemed a little weird, but neither of them seemed to have realized it.

After walking for a while, Qin Mo suddenly asked, “Are you thinking of helping Ye Xin?”

Shi Qing froze for a moment. He had no idea how to respond.

Qin Mo understood as soon as he saw his reaction. He frowned and said, “Actually, it’ll be faster to get him to marry Gu Yan.”

Gu Yan was Ye Xin’s supposed fiancé.

“Faster?”

“Yeah. I’m hoping he can get married off sooner.” Ye Mo had two young brothers, but Shi Qing was Shi Qing. Qin Mo would not allow him to get married to anyone else, so if he wanted to complete the mission, he could only sell Ye Xin off.

Even though Shi Qing could not understand his brother’s way of thought in the slightest, he miraculously kept up with his crazy rhythm. “Ye Xin won’t marry Gu Yan.”

“Why?” Qin Mo asked, unlike himself. “There are many ways to get him to marry.”

Shi Qing laid it out flat, “He’ll die.”

Qin Mo raised his brows.

Shi Qing turned to Qin Mo and looked straight at him, repeating himself, “He’ll really die.” A dead man wouldn’t be able to marry.

Qin Mo’s eyes deepened slightly but he promptly responded, “I understand.”

Shi Qing breathed a sigh of relief. Even though it was a little confusing, at the very least, he’d be able to drag over another helper for Ye Xin. Ye Xin, even though that guy was somewhat willful and had a bad mouth, he had an upright personality and treated the people around him well. Especially the neglected Ye Qing. Ye Qing had a good relationship with him, so naturally, Shi Qing wouldn’t hate him either.

It wasn’t like his love for Lin Su was a recent thing. It actually started when he was 13. After throwing himself in, he never got out of it. Only, considering how old the old Patriarch Ye was getting, he didn’t dare mention it. What’s more, with how Lin Su always treated him as a good child, he never dared to ruin that, and naturally, he couldn’t tell anyone.

However, who would have thought that Old Patriarch Ye would get him engaged as soon as he graduated? Ye Xin’s mind was overwhelmed in an instant and ran over to seek Ye Qing out that very night. After panicking for the whole night and finding no clues to deal with his situation, he decided quite simply to just pack up his things and ran off the next day…

As for where he ran off to, he had no idea then, but he had a trail to follow now. He was no fool. He knew he was an Omega and that if found alone, he would be left to die on the streets. Therefore, he rushed straight towards Lin Su as his goal.

Ye Xin had already cut off all lines of retreat. He knew where Lin Su was, so he decided to just stop using his inhibitors so he could actively seduce Lin Su.

An Alpha had practically no defenses against a fresh and pure Omega taking the initiative to offer themselves up to them. Moreover, Ye Xin believed this whole time that Lin Su liked him.

Indeed, Lin Su’s eyes turned bloodshot and he was completely smitten, and he was almost devoured by that beast called ‘desire’.

He liked Ye Xin. He liked him very much, so much that he could feel it in his bones. However, it was because of those intense emotions that he didn’t dare to move forward no matter what.

He had fallen from grace in his early years and went off to work under the Ye family, climbing up step by step. Though he had a tough mind and outstanding abilities, he knew that he would not have gotten to where he was today without Ye Xuan’s recognition and support.

So, he couldn’t just feed his kindness to the dogs and do such an ungrateful thing.

There was a whole thirty years of difference between he and Ye Xin. Even though he never had a partner previously due to his long years on the battlefield, he was already halfway through his life. However, Ye Xin was just like the first light of day. He was still in his most wonderful years.

No matter what, Ye Xin was out of his league, so he was determined not to ruin him for his own selfish desires.

What’s more…He was already an adult, but Ye Xin was still young. He couldn’t even tell the difference between like and love, and it must have been his proximity to Ye Xin that caused the boy to misunderstand. Once they grew a little more distant, Ye Xin would slowly forget about him.

With those strong beliefs, he actually overcame his instincts and guarded Ye Xin perfectly.

Unfortunately, he would never in his wildest dreams imagine that his persistence would send Ye Xin to his deepest despairs.

He put down his dignity, put down everything, and begged him with that debased appearance, but Lin Su still pushed him away.

There was no way an Alpha could let go of an Omega while in rut unless he already loved someone else.

Ye Xin sat there, stunned, and his heart felt cold.

Lin Su really didn’t want him anymore.

He had no other way.

He used to hate deeply that he was an Omega, but now that he was happy to become one for Lin Su, Lin Su didn’t need him anymore.

Rather than living and marrying someone else, he might as well…

When Shi Qing and Qin Mo came in, they saw Ye Xin who was trying to do something foolish.

With his divine steps, he rushed over and quickly slapped away the weapon in his hand. “Ye Xin! Wake up!”

At that moment, Qin Mo had also come in. When he saw the scene before him, he raised his head slightly and spoke in a cold tone, “Let him die.”
