Chapter 100
Chapter
The elves stared blankly at this side beyond the open door.
Just as Enok and his party were about to take their first step through the doorway.
[Ting—!]
The elves all simultaneously drew their swords with not a single misstep, aiming directly at the party. Their poised demeanor showcased their rigorous training, but the problem was that those swords were pointed at this side.
“Rionne?”
“It’s fine, Enok. I expected this.”
She smiled bitterly and snapped her fingers. Roots shot up from the ground, quickly binding the elves in place.
However, a few elves skillfully dodged the attack. They were quite skilled among the Grandmasters.
“You cannot pass.”
“Please step aside.”
The sword-bearing elves rushed forward. Awaiting them was Rionne, who stood with her own sword drawn.
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen familiar faces.”
Uncles and aunties. Some faces had been known to Rionne since her childhood, while others were new as she grew older.
With a solemn expression and her sword held firmly, she silently swung it.
[Swish—]
The sword that soared through the air halted the movements of the elves. Before long, they lost consciousness and collapsed.
A chill ran down Enok’s spine as he watched the scene unfold, goosebumps rising on his arms.
‘So this is what they call…’
No one had told him, but he understood the moment he saw it. Her heart, her will, her logic twisted as she cleaved through the elves’ reason.
That was the mind’s sword, the Ki Sword.
Ever since becoming a demigod, she had utilized nature-related powers a lot, but it turned out she had just been waiting for the moment to unsheathe her sword.
“Let’s go.”
Rionne, her mood evidently dulled, took the lead. Roxanna approached her. She smiled gently and patted Rionne on the shoulder.
“Loosen up a bit. It’s going to be a wonderful day; how can you have such a grim face?”
“Ah, yeah… I guess I was a bit tense.”
“Hehe, no need to be.”
Roxanna chuckled confidently as she looked up at the large mansion, furrowing her brows.
“He’ll probably take it easy on you. With a daughter and a partner, why would he swing his sword to kill?”
[Oh.]
Eri whispered into Enok’s ear with a serious expression after hearing Roxanna’s words.
[This is bad, Dad. Normally when someone says that, they swing their sword with intent to kill, right?]
“Who does?”
[From a book. If the Sword God is really swinging his sword with the intent to kill, won’t it be disastrous?]
“It’s fine.”
If he were to try and kill Rionne, whether he was a father or a master-in-law wouldn’t matter.
“If we fight well, we will win.”
More importantly, what kind of books is Eri reading?
Enok pondered seriously.
*
Once again, I must emphasize that the Estor House’s mansion is absurdly massive.
And naturally, countless elves resided there in proportion to its size.
Unfortunately, these elves had been turned into emotionless dolls due to the influence of the head of the household, Kyle Estor, making it quite troublesome to walk normally to where Kyle was.
[Should I go?]
So Rionne devised a simple plan to head straight to where Kyle was and drew her sword.
Pointing her sword aimed at the right shoulder indicated a certain location within the mansion.
Should she transition the space, there was a risk that Kyle could interfere along the way, so taking a deep breath, Rionne extended her sword.
[Whoosh─────────!!!!]
The sword’s trajectory erased the space around it. At the same time, the roots that sprang from the ground widened the erased area, creating a path.
“…….”
As the path opened wide, she locked eyes with the expressionless Sword God.
[Swish—]
By the time he noticed, he was already drawing his sword. He had been so close, it was hard to fathom that the sword was there. His aura made it difficult to even recognize him as a sword.
“Just support me.”
Rionne, having spoken briefly, immediately fused with Undine.
[Whew!]
The cerulean sky darkened into a gray hue. Raindrops poured from the dark clouds, slashing through the air like daggers, while plants that grew rapidly from the rain launched themselves towards the Sword God.
[Swish—]
With a single strike, everything returned to null.
“Ugh…!”
Just by witnessing it, Enok’s right eye burst. Pressing a hand against the injury, he glared at the Sword God with his remaining left eye.
In that brief moment, the battlefield had transformed into the sky.
This was all according to Rionne’s plan. Fighting within the mansion would leave little chance for the other elves to survive. From the beginning, shifting the battlefield had been the goal.
Now, the next plan was…,
“Son-in-law, are you alright? Don’t overdo it.”
“I’m fine.”
What grand scheme could there possibly be? All that was left was to fight earnestly and shove the emotional fragments into the Sword God.
“What about the fragments?”
“Here.”
Roxanna pulled out ten fragments. Suddenly, the fragments began to glow faintly.
“What is this…?”
Roxanna eyed the Sword God who was fighting in the sky.
“It seems to be reacting to him.”
As if to affirm her words, the ten fragments that had been divided coalesced into one.
The fragments came together as if adhering to the air, forming a round pearl shape.
Holding it delicately in her hands, Roxanna let out a small breath.
[Then it’s time to help Rionne.]
With a few steps forward, flowers bloomed atop the footprints left behind.
Putting her hands together in front of her chest, Roxanna whispered softly.
[I ask for your help, my children. Please aid Rionne.]
[Kududek—!] Suddenly, the ground surged, creating a colossal mountain. No, a tortoise? A mountain made of soil resembling a turtle opened its mouth wide.
[Today is the day.]
From the turtle’s mouth, boulders the size of houses came shooting out.
[Swish—!]
Eventually, raindrops in the air gathered, forming a gigantic bird. As colossal as the Estor House, the bird raised its head and let out a cry.
[This is the day Roxanna’s wishes come true.]
Dwarves made of plants, a flaming giant, a leopard with a steel body, and an elephant made of lightning all emerged, bearing an ominous aura, ready to assist Rionne.
Among them, the lightning elephant stared intently at Enok, even winking one eye.
This was the Fairy Spirit Queen. It was an epithet attached not only because she was Kyle’s wife, the Fairy Sword God, but also because her ability to handle spirits resembled the legendary fairies, creating this title.
“Dad, I’m ready too.”
Tsukiyo stood behind Enok, tightly clutching talismans in her hands.
Though she specialized in illusions, due to their nature, they didn’t work well against higher-level strong opponents.
Especially since she had gained the Ki Eye after becoming a demigod, any illusions below that were virtually meaningless.
Thus, in this battle, Tsukiyo was meant to act purely in support. Yet, with her expertise in curses, she would still be a considerable aid.
[Whack—!]
Tsukiyo affixed the talismans to Enok’s back. Simultaneously, Enok felt a peculiar energy wrap around his body.
“Eri.”
[Yes!]
Fusing with Eri, he entered the state of True Self. The true me. Grasping a fragment of truth, he gazed at the two demigods battling in the sky.
‘As expected…’
So far away. And yet so close, as if stretching out his hand would reach them.
The exploded eye was regenerating, capturing the images of the Sword God and Rionne.
Even in Enok’s relatively low-level vision, he could see it. An incomprehensible gap existed between the Sword God and Rionne. Yet the fact that a battle was ongoing suggested that the Sword God was holding back a bit.
Enok’s role was to slip through the gap and exploit it for a clear opportunity.
[Hoo──────]
Taking a deep breath, he gathered Ki in his right hand. It was Convergence. Pure lightning gathered and was transcended into a single concept.
‘I can do this.’
He had done it once before. Hadn’t he transformed the void created by a clone of the Sword God from nothing into something? He shared the same nature.
Lightning sparked in Enok’s eyes, and for a moment he felt as if his fingertips were reaching an endless distance.
[Huh…!]
Simultaneously twisting his waist, he shot out the Lightning Spear. The launched spear flew at the speed of light.
The Sword God readily reacted and swung his sword.
────────────
The laws of physics were irrelevant. Under his sword, even light lost its meaning.
Instead, the lightning that had wrapped around his sword dispersed in all directions.
[Thunder────────!!!]
Lightning raged. Suddenly, Enok encountered a different kind of brilliance within the chaos, causing him to step forward as if entranced. There lay a path. A path that would vanish if not taken right away.
[Zip—]
His new form surged forward. In one step, he became lightning; in two steps, he reached in front of the Sword God.
[Enok…!]
Rionne gasped in horror as she swung her sword. Roxanna’s spirits attacked the Sword God with all their might.
Yet it was futile.
To Rionne, the Sword God’s sword, which had seemed to be holding back, was swung without hesitation.
────────────
The sword swung with no excess sliced through Enok’s torso.
Beginning from that trajectory, Enok’s body began to vanish. Tsukiyo, her eyes wide open, screamed.
“Daaad…!!”
The hand binding the beastman left behind an afterimage. Tsukiyo, overlapping her illusions at a speed so fast that it caused mana to backflow, cast the last incantation.
[Reality Deception!]
The vanished Enok’s flesh was replaced by the illusion. The captured soul lingered in the false body, allowing Enok’s life to persist for a fleeting moment.
[E-Enok…!]
Rionne’s mind turned blank. For an elf, a partner was a whole world. Before her eyes, her world was dissipating.
[Ah, aah…!]
Killing intent sparked in her eyes. The sword imbued with the spirit of murder sharpened more than ever.
Enok, watching the whole scene unfold, smiled faintly. He knew. It was a mad act, and it would leave scars on those watching.
[…I feel like I’m going to have to be sorry after this fight.]
I felt guilty, but there was no helping it. Could I not choose the path that was visible?
As flesh dispersed and spirit remained clear.
A vivid path lay ahead, and I took a step forward.
‘Perfect.’
With this, I advance.
When the formless flesh was imbued with spirit, it became the divine body.
