Raising magical girls, and leave them with eternal regret?!

Chapter 21 - Cadre emerge

“This must be the place…”

Following the eerie chill to its source, Bai Yu finally arrived at the origin of the sensation after winding through the area.

What met her eyes were several enormous spider webs, with two spiders perched menacingly upon them.

Both spiders were pitch black, with terrifying red light gleaming from their compound eyes.

“Hiss…”

Upon noticing Bai Yu’s presence not far away, one of the giant spiders emitted a threatening sound as if warning her not to approach.

“There’s not yet any casualties…”

Bai Yu cast a quick glance at the building where the spiders were lurking, then immediately shifted her gaze back.

Fortunately, she had arrived in time. If these trap-laying creatures had been allowed to complete their preparations, dealing with them would have been exceedingly troublesome.

Better kill them quickly, now that there was still a chance.

With this in mind, Bai Yu lowered her head, staring at the necklace around her neck. She swiftly removed the blue gemstone from the chain.

Raising the gemstone high with her right hand and said:

“Transform(Henshin).”

The next moment, a brilliant blue light burst forth from Bai Yu, so intense that the giant spiders were forced to shut their eyes against the glare.

When the light finally faded, standing before them was none other than the magical girl, Blue Night.

While not as awe-inspiring as Firebird’s, Blue Night’s appearance exuded an aura of mystery.

After all… her outfit, composed of a series of dark, cool-toned garments, made it nearly impossible to discern her true form.

Overall, her current outfit resembled that of a Western sea deity.

“I’ll finish them in three minutes.”

With this thought in mind, Bai Yu swiftly liquefied her body, and then, at an extremely fast speed, she shot toward the giant spiders through the cracks in the ground with incredible speed.

“Hiss…?”

Seeing Bai Yu, who had just been standing before them, suddenly liquefy into a puddle of water and vanish, the two giant spiders panicked. They frantically scanned their surroundings, trying to locate her.

However, their efforts were futile. The moment they began to panic, Bai Yu had already launched herself from beneath them—

“Boom!”

Her petite fist packed an immense amount of power. Anyone who had fought with magical girls before understood this simple truth, so the moment her initial attack struck them, the battle’s outcome was already clear.

“Bang!”

The first giant spider struck by Bai Yu was sent flying, soaring at least 20 meters into the air before crashing back down to the ground.

The other spider, noticing her, opened its mouth and spat webs toward her, attempting to trap her.

However, it was all in vain. Bai Yu,  who had mastered the ability to liquefy, easily dodged the giant spider’s attack after liquefying her body.

She then swiftly reverted to her solid form, grabbing the spider’s webbing. With a powerful swing, she hurled the giant spider high into the sky.

“!!!”

Then, with a forceful pull downward, she slammed the spider into the ground.

With that, both giant spiders were subdued, stripped of any ability to move.

And this entire sequence of actions had taken just over two minutes.

“…Feels like there was no need to call her after all.”

“The fight’s already over… What’s the point of having her come here now…”

Staring at the two giant spiders trapped in the ground, Bai Yu suddenly regretted her decision.

After all, she wasn’t eager to interact with WuYue right now. Dealing with someone as troublesome as her… was exhausting.

Moreover, without YouYu around, there was a chance they might end up arguing again.

“…”

“I should get rid of these two things first.”

No matter how much she regretted it now, there was no point in dwelling on it.

It would be better to finish off these creatures quickly and then find an excuse to leave.

After all, she can just easily make up an excuse.

Thinking so, Bai Yu walked over to the two giant spiders and then raised his fist, which was already encased in a layer of water, high in the air.

Then…

“Thud!”

Her fist came crashing down, striking something and sending up a cloud of dust.

“This is?!”

However, after bringing her fist down, Bai Yu realized that the object she struck felt entirely different from the spiders she had just fought. It was something incredibly hard.

In an instant, she knew exactly what it was.

This touch…

She had felt it before, the first time she transformed into a magical girl.

“Whoosh—”

As the dust settled, what appeared before her was a transparent cube glowing with a red light.

“Just as I thought!”

With a powerful leap, Bai Yu jumped back, retreating over ten meters instantly. She frowned, her eyes fixed warily on the cube.

That thing… it was a protective barrier. Ordinary negative beasts, especially low-level ones like these, shouldn’t have the ability to summon such a barrier!

Unless…

“There’s a cadre…”

Just like in the anime, the appearance of these monsters usually meant someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes.

And such individuals were known as cadres.

They possessed abilities that far surpassed ordinary monsters, as well as higher intelligence and more evil tactics.

And they usually do not appear of their own accord.

But this time, it showed up of its own accord ……

Why?

As Bai Yu watched the humanoid creature flying out from behind the two spiders, her mind raced.

“…Ain’t you vigilant, Blue Night.”

The flying humanoid creature said.

“…Unlike the first time we met… Back then, you were filled with hatred and hostility toward us.”

“But now… I no longer sense that from you.”

“Has time worn it away?”

“…After all, compared to constantly thinking about how to curse you beasts to death in my mind every day, it’s better to use my fist.”

With that taunt, Bai Yu found herself feeling more tense than ever before.

It wasn’t as if she hadn’t tried to fight these Cadre-level characters in the past, but each time she failed.

Back then, she simply had no power to stop them and could only let them escape.

But this time… the initiative wasn’t in her hands. It was these cadres who personally sent monsters to find her trouble.

Misfortune outweighs fortune…

“…You’re still not worthy, Blue Night.”

Seemingly having figured out what she was thinking, the humanoid creature continued:

“Fighting you now won’t yield us much benefit.”

“So, this time, it’s not me who will fight you—”

“But them.”

As it spoke, the two giant spiders merged together under the influence of a strange force…
