Recruitment Drive (I) [BLEACH UNIVERSE]
~~Two Weeks Later~~
“Mother, I have found her” Zetsu revealed and Kaguya opened her eyes to stare at her son with a proud look on her face. Well, she would have liked it if he had taken a bit more time to find the girl, but this was alright too… It has been close to two weeks since she had been tinkering with the Hogyoku and thanks to all of Aizen’s research, she could confidently say that she was pretty good with it.
However, she knew that she still needed to be careful with the Hogyoku… Even though Aizen himself was responsible for his loss, the Hogyoku had a role in it…
“You have done good, my son” Kaguya said while patting his head. After she stopped patting his head, she quickly stopped up and opened her other hand to reveal the Hogyoku. For almost the past two weeks she had been using the Hogyoku to become more powerful than before and it was working. She could already feel herself becoming stronger, much stronger than before.
After all, just like she believed, Aizen had been wrong… Aizen couldn’t have become the strongest existence even if Ichigo hadn’t defeated him. Yes, Aizen could have interacted with the physical world even without a physical body, but he could have never reached the pinnacle of existence even in this Universe with just a Spiritual body.
That was why, Kaguya had been using the Hogyoku to bring her Spiritual power to some sort of equilibrium… Kaguya could feel her Reiryoku increasing and to keep up with her Spiritual power, her body had been growing stronger with each passing day. Kaguya was nowhere close to manifesting her Zanpaktou anytime soon, but she was making significant progress in every other regard.
Her control over her own Reiatsu had been kind of shot, but she had managed to gain an impeccable amount of control over her Reiastsu with the help of Hogyoku. However, Kaguya had no plans to depend on the Hogyoku for the rest of her life. Aizen might have believed that the Hogyoku did not have an upper limit, but Kaguya knew better. No matter how powerful the Hogyoku was, it could never make her all-powerful.
And as soon as the Hogyoku couldn’t improve her any more, she was planning to seal it away… The Hogyoku was notorious for reacting to the desires of anyone around it, and Kaguya wanted to avoid any unnecessary accidents…
“You” Kaguya called one of her Clones who was hovering nearby. “Go with Zetsu and bring me Nelliel and her hangers-on” Kaguya ordered and her Clone nodded in understanding.
“Mother…” Zetsu trailed off with a hesitant look on his face.
“Yes?” Kaguya asked softly as she caressed his cheek.
“Uhh… I don’t want to question you or anything, but why do you need them? They are pathetic and weak” Zetsu finally asked, earning a smile from Kaguya.
“Hmm… Sometimes it is not about strength, my son” Kaguya said softly. “Sometimes, it is about loyalty” Kaguya added before a frown appeared on her face. “Think of them as Akatsuki, but I am not planning to use them. I do need some loyal subordinates who can take care of the inane things in my stead” Kaguya explained. Having some expendable pawns should be useful, but she wanted to use the Arrancars differently.
Thanks to Janet and all the internet browsing, Kaguya knew the importance of having loyal followers. The reason why she was so hung on them was because Hollows were nothing like humans… At least not all the Hollows were like humans. Most of the Hollows were simply content with their lives or some simple things. Yes, there were some outliners like Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez and Nnoitra Gilga, but she could deal with them.
“Then are you planning to recruit the other Arrancars too?” Zetsu asked curiously.
“Yes, but not all of them. Some of them are more trouble than they are worth for” Kaguya firmly explained earning a nod from Zetsu. “Now, off you go” Kaguya dismissed Zetsu and he immediately melted into the ground after bidding her farewell and moments later, her Clone followed him. There was a chance that Nelliel would accept the offer, but there was also a chance that she might refuse.
However, her Clone supposed was supposed to bring Nelliel and her hangers-on either way. If the girl agreed then she would heal the girl and if she refused then she was going to test the Hogyoku on the girl. After all, there was a lot more she could learn about the Hogyoku and Nelliel was an Arrancar… Kaguya had already tested the Hogyoku on normal Hollows, but none of them survived the surge of power yet.
Aizen might have used the Hogyoku to create the Arrancars, but he had barely given them any power boost… Their Zanpaktou release might look powerful but in reality, it was nothing more than a gimmick. Aizen might have blurred the lines between Hollows and Shinigami to give them Zanpaktou, but the Arrancars were only 5% Shinigami while the rest of them were Hollows.
That was the reason why none of the Arrancars possessed any kind of Zanpaktou Spirits… Aizen had simply sealed their true powers inside their Zanpaktou, which wasn’t much of a power boost to begin with…
The problem was that Aizen didn’t trust them… They were simply playthings in his eyes. The Hollows were simply some expendable pawns to keep the Shinigami distracted. To be honest, he did not need them. He was stronger than all of them combined and he proved that when he butchered the Captains of Gotei 13 and the Visords on his own. Aizen could have waged war against the Gotei 13 on his own.
He might have used the Arrancars to divide the Captains into two groups in the canon, but in reality, a few more Captains wouldn’t have mattered to him… Zaraki might seem powerful, but he was simply a bonehead who couldn’t even release his Shikai and Byakuya was a bit more dangerous compared to Zaraki, but Aizen could have beaten him easily.
What Gin said in canon while the Captains and the Visored were fighting against Aizen was true…
If only Aizen had used his Bankai, he could have defeated Ichigo too, but Aizen was too mad with power with the Hogyoku empowering his delusions. True, he could have won without his Bankai, but he was just a pathetic loser on the inside. Kaguya huffed and decided to forget about the pathetic fool. The Shinigami did not know the trouble she had spared them by killing Aizen.
They should be grateful to her, but she knew that they would come after her eventually... After all, no good deed even went unpunished…
That was the crux of another issue she was facing… If the Shinigami came after her then she was going to kill them. After all, that was she had said to the old man and let it not be said that Kaguya was not a woman of her word. However, killing them would mean that Yhwach was going to win. Did she really care about that though? This was not her world… Yhwach was not her enemy. At least not yet.
However, if the Shinigami never came for her, Yhwach was still going to attack Gotei 13 and Las Noches with his Sternritters and that might give her a good opportunity to stretch her legs. Maybe she could even test herself against Yhwach. If she couldn’t even beat Yhwach then she could never beat her Clan Head or much worse, her Clan Ancestors.
Maybe, she could kill the Shinigami if they ever came after her and later kill the Quincies as soon as they crawled out of their hidey holes… She could even get her subordinates to join in on the fun. Kaguya was already planning to use the Hogyoku to turn them into 50% Shinigami and 50% Hollow. The Quincies were going to be quite a nice target practice for them or at least she hoped so.
However, all of that could wait until she had recruited the Arrancars for real…
======X======
(With Zetsu and Kaguya’s Clone)
“What exactly are they doing?” The Clone couldn’t help but ask Zetsu with a bewildered look on her face. According to her memories, the hangers-on should be her brothers, right? Then why the hell the hangers-on were chasing Nelliel while the girl was bawling her eyes out? Was there something she was missing?
“I believe they are playing” Zetsu answered, earning a nod from the Clone. Now that he mentioned it, wasn’t this how Ichigo and his crew came to meet Nelliel the first time?
“Stay here” The Clone ordered and even though Zetsu did not consider the Clone his mother, he still respected her. After all, the Clone was simply an extension of her mother. The Clone flew toward the group of trio and their pet, leaving Zetsu to his own devices. The trio and their pet never noticed Kaguya until she finally started to speak. “Nelliel Tu-“ That was all that came out of her mouth before she raised her hand to stop a Cero.
The Clone narrowed her eyes at Dondochakka Birstanne. “Is there a reason why you attacked me?” The Clone asked while she noticed Pesche Guatiche running away with Nelliel under his arm. Meanwhile, Bawabawa, their pet was already trying to tunnel under her. The Clone sighed in irritation before stopping another Cero. The Clone decided that it was enough and decided to use the Attraction powers of the Tenseigan to pull everyone toward her.
“Wha-?” Pesche began to ask, but he was cut off by Nel.
“Who are you and why are you picking on us?” Nel demanded with a mighty pout on her face while tears almost trickled out of her eyes.
The Clone could have argued, but to be honest, she didn’t care much. “Nelliel Tu Olelschwanck, I came here to recruit you, but you were the ones who attacked me first” The Clone explained. Dondochakka and Pesche looked horrified at the casual drop of the name, but Nel simply gave her a confused look.
“…But I am Nel” The girl said.
“Wait! Who are you and recruit for what?” Pesche finally came to the rescue as soon as he finally regained his bearings.
“I am Kaguya Otsutsuki and I want to recruit her as my subordinate, of course” The Clone explained since she didn’t mind answering their questions.
At her words, Dondochakka and Pesche seemed to become even more suspicious. “Becoming your subordinate? What it would entail?” Pesche asked carefully. He would preferred to take Nel and run away, but he knew he couldn’t do that. He had tried to run away while Dondochakka and Bawabawa were supposed to be buying them time, but they failed and now they were at the mercy of this strange person.
“All three of you will be healed” The Clone answered before taking a small pause. “And in return, you might have to take care of some inane things which are beneath me” The Clone fully explained and when she mentioned healed, both Dondochakka and Pesche seemed to exchange a look while Nel simply looked at the duo in confusion.
“…What if we don’t want to?” Pesche asked carefully.
The Clone barely held herself back from pointing out that she wasn’t making a request. They were going to be recruited… Either willingly or unwillingly. “Then I will leave” The Clone answered, but once again she decided to omit the part where she was going to take them with her. “But are the two of you really so selfish to deny her the chance to return to her original state?” The Clone asked.
However, her words only increased their alarm. They wanted to protect Nel at all costs and from what they had heard the woman knew about their past which was not good…
“If you are worried about Aizen? Then don’t. He is dead and the rest of the Arrancars are going to join me or die. At that time, I wouldn’t mind killing Nnoitra Gilga and Szayel Aporro Granz for you. They are loose cannons either way” The Clone explained, trying to dismiss their worries. Dondochakka and Pesche gave her disbelieving looks.
“Aizen-sama is dead?” Pesche asked. He realized that it would be useless to act clueless anymore. The woman standing in front of them probably knew everything about them.
“Yes, I killed him a few weeks ago” The Clones answered simply.
Dondochakka and Pesche weren’t sure if they should believe her or not, but Pesche was already starting to come up with some plans. He knew that they could not run and he did not trust her to simply let them go when she admitted that the Arrancars could either join her or die. So, he decided to accept the offer and escape as soon as they got a chance.
He wasn’t sure if the woman could really heal the three of them, but he was willing to take the chances, just for Nel. Nel deserved at least that much and more…
“Alright. We will join you” Pesche declared and the Clone smiled softly at his words…
