Quiz Game system: starting from Marvel Universe

Chapter 626: The Blind and the Crippled

Joining the World Government proactively, only to cause trouble from within under the guise of an official, versus directly clashing head-on with the authorities from the start—which of these two methods would be more effective?

Suddenly, Erik thought of an idea. When he returned, he would inevitably clash with various governments, but what if he planted and infiltrated trusted mutants into high-level human positions to gradually dismantle their systems from within? It was a promising plan.

Of course, what intrigued Erik even more was the powerful ability possessed by Fujitora!

Fujitora had eaten a Devil Fruit known as the Zushi Zushi no Mi, granting him control over gravity. Combined with his extraordinary perception—Kenbunshoku Haki—he could even summon meteors from the sky to strike down on his enemies!

Erik's own ability was to manipulate magnetic fields, but he had yet to fully develop it. If he could somehow harness the power of Fujitora's gravity, the combination might unleash an even greater force!

Moreover, this strange world possessed another power system—Haki—which piqued Erik's interest.

Haki was a power that allowed one to alter material reality through sheer force of will. It was divided into three types. The first was Kenbunshoku Haki, which heightened one's perception to an incredible degree, almost comparable to Charles' telepathic abilities.

The second was Busoshoku Haki, which could dramatically enhance one's physical strength. If Erik could master it, he might even be able to go toe-to-toe with Wolverine's adamantium claws.

The third was Haoshoku Haki, a purer form of spiritual amplification. With this, he might be able to resist Charles' mind-reading and telepathic powers.

Between Fujitora's gravity manipulation and the power of Haki, Erik was far more interested in the latter.

After glimpsing a future version of himself, Erik had come to view Charles as the biggest obstacle to his goals. Charles' telepathic abilities were simply too powerful, and relying on just a helmet for protection wasn't foolproof—Sebastian Shaw had been a perfect example of that.

If Haki could counter Charles' telepathy effectively, Erik was confident he could finally triumph over him!

He would prove to Charles that he was wrong. Only he can lead mutants to a brighter future!

Filled with these thoughts, Erik felt a surge of satisfaction. This strange game had provided him with quite the reward; all his efforts in answering the questions had not been in vain.

As a feeling of disorientation passed, he returned to reality, abruptly opening his eyes—only to find himself surrounded by darkness.

Erik froze, blinking repeatedly and rubbing his eyes furiously. "Damn it, I can't see anything!"

Nearby, Logan's amused laughter rang out. "Ha! Erik, I wish I had a mirror to show you what you look like right now. Where did your eyeballs go?"

Logan snickered, clearly taking pleasure in the situation. "See, I told you this would happen! You mocked me earlier, and now look at you... Though, I suppose it's only fair. Charles ended up a cripple, and now you're blind. You two could form a band of disabled buddies or something."

He chuckled. "Oh, wait, I almost forgot—you changed history, so maybe Charles won't end up crippled this time…"

Though Erik couldn't see, he could imagine Logan's mocking grin in his mind. Gritting his teeth in frustration, he clenched his fists and snarled, "You mutt, keep yapping, and I'll make sure to train you properly when I get back!"

Taking deep breaths to calm himself, Erik tried to accept the situation. Losing one's sight was a shocking experience, especially for someone who had relied on it all their life.

Despite his anger, Erik managed to keep his composure. No matter how furious he felt, he knew better than to openly insult this quiz game.

After calming down a bit, he realized the situation wasn't as dire as it seemed. While he was blind, his other senses had heightened to an unprecedented degree. As he waved his hand, he could feel the airflow passing through his fingers, almost like an extension of his body, allowing him to perceive his surroundings clearly in his mind.

Kenbunshoku Haki!

Erik understood now—this was the reward he'd received.

This bizarre game had somehow instilled him with an otherworldly power system. Although his Kenbunshoku Haki was still rudimentary and didn't have the range of Fujitora's, he was confident that with practice, he could one day reach the level where he could sense and control falling meteors from outer space!

His mental and physical attributes had undergone a transformation, making him feel stronger than ever. Erik even entertained the thought of smashing through the golden barrier that confined him.

Of course, he restrained himself, knowing that this surge of strength was likely just an illusion caused by his recent changes.

Despite the strange mix of advantages and disadvantages, he realized he'd come out ahead. If his current, blind self were to fight his previous self, he might just be able to win instantly!

This thought lightened Erik's mood considerably. Although Logan continued to ramble on in the background, Erik chose to ignore him, simply making a mental note to deal with him later.

Logan, however, posed another challenge. This version of Wolverine participating in the game with Erik wasn't from his timeline but from a parallel one.

So when he returned, it was likely he wouldn't encounter this dog-eared Wolverine again.

But then again, with such a fantastical quiz game, perhaps one day he might see multiple versions of Wolverine, or even several Charleses—or, who knows, multiple versions of himself.

On the other side, Wanda and Peter were observing the changes in Magneto and Wolverine from afar.

Due to the golden barrier blocking their view, they couldn't see much. Wanda, a little envious, remarked, "They really hit the jackpot this time, getting those legacy rewards. The rewards in this game vary, but legacy rewards are among the rarest and most valuable."

"Really?" asked Peter, scratching his head. As a newcomer to this bizarre game, he didn't know much about it, so he asked curiously, "I noticed that the colors of their rewards were different—Logan's was purple, and Erik's was gold… It kinda reminded me of video games, where gold is rarer than purple. Does that mean Erik's reward is more valuable?"

"Yes, you guessed it right," Wanda replied with a smile. "You're sharp, Peter! I didn't even think about it back when I started. Someone had to explain it to me."
