Quest Maker of Soul Land

Chapter 326: The Fallen Victors (3)

Ja Sun looked at Oscar silently as the silver-haired youth stared back. Finally, the cook of their team let out an annoyed grumble and scoffed, "At least leave my face alone. That's one thing I am the best at in our team."

And he wasn't wrong. Oscar, without a doubt, was the most handsome guy on their team while Xie Xan was more of a sharp pickle pleasant only to certain eyes and Ja Sun would rather keep up with the fur because it was too damn comfortable even to himself.

Smirking, Ja Sun stood up and dusted his butt before continuing, "Did Yuehua or Erlong say what kind of battles they'd gone through?"

"Nope," Oscar hummed, "Well, the moment Little Yin and Sister Bi Ji healed Yuehua, she entered into meditation with a smile. Honestly, freaked the hell out of me and Xan. The girls are getting scarier and scarier... meanwhile, Erlong was grinning the entire time, even getting a smack on the back of her head by Little Yin for declaring that she was the best... I thought that didn't deserve a smack, but eh, why would I offer my head to your harem," he shrugged as Ja Sun touched his chin thoughtfully. Finally scoffing a chuckle, Ja Sun shot back.

"Well, the conditions are simple, really. Yuehua and Erlong had some weird kinks, that's all." Ja Sun's made Oscar stifle his snicker as he then cleared his throat.

"So? What's the deal? Limited time battle? Do I have to land a hit on you? Or—"

"It's simple, really," Ja Sun smiled and took a deep breath, "I want to be impressed. It sounds ridiculous since I'm not the team leader but—"

"But you're the one we're trying to suck benefits out of and some girls even more," Oscar cracked a grin, this time making Ja Sun snicker as he nodded, "But I get it. Efficient and simple. Things left at your discretion do make it a tiny bit tricky though."

"Because of ambiguity?" Ja Sun questioned.

"Because it's you," Oscar corrected and then exhaled deeply, "So, I can go all out, right? Damn... I wonder if I should have put more time in cultivation to reach rank 70 than this..."

Oscar was close to rank 70, too close in fact. After eating his immortal herb Origin Energy Immortal Grass, he formed a pseudo spirit core that would perfect itself when he reached rank 70 and his speed of cultivation was quite a sight since the pace of cultivation is directly related to the martial soul from the beginning. Not to mention the youth was a genius in this regard as his realm of self was being able to cut the cost of his spirit skills in half.

But as he spoke, Oscar's body began to cover itself in a layer of dark golden scales that took a pattern similar to Erlong's without any wings and a distinct lack of claws. This... amazed Ja Sun. Truly. Oscar is a support-type user with only a few offensive skills including the spirit gun, the new spirit bone he got from Bibi Dong, and finally, the Gentle Tactics excluding the skills Ja Sun derived from the Clear Sky Clan.

What Oscar did right now... was still amazing. Ja Sun had only made this note in passing. The Golden Wardrobe rings that he gave to the group had a potential similar to his external million-year-old ring. That's why Ja Sun considered them a peak mortal level artifact! The rings could turn into any cover of the body the user desires and given that Ja Sun even used the materials from million-year-old beasts... the ring could mimic the hide of a million-year-old beast!

Of course, to study such a material is a task on its own but Oscar was on this path itself.

"I... well, I persuaded Ah Yin to persuade Ja Yin to let me study one of her scales under her fur," Oscar sighed as if reliving some tough memories, "But still, as you said, since I am not Ja Yin, this layer of dragon scales is just better defensive clothing at best. Better than most, still. Did... Yuehua and Erlong try this?"

Ja Sun shook his head and now he wished that they did but he knew their reasons, "Yuehua is too focused to catch up to the rest of you in cultivation, and well... Erlong is Erlong. The last thing she would do by herself is study and research."

"I'm glad," Oscar smiled, and then he surprised Ja Sun further as a shotgun made from Ja Yin's scales branched out from his right forearm, "I... also persuaded... fuck it, begged Ah Yin to persuade Ja Yin to help me study your spirit gun. Just that inscription pattern took a lot out of me to learn. Damn, you, Ja Yin, and Violet are crazy."

"Wait... you copied one of my inscriptions?" Ja Sun looked at Oscar with even more amazement.

'Huh... spend one month in debauchery with a couple of dragons and the rest will surprise you... amazing. Then what can happen by spending my time off for a year?'

Ja Sun mused and sat down again before laughing loudly.

"What? Something wrong?" Oscar mused and sat down himself. The burning sand barely doing anything because his butt was protected by Ja Yin herself!

"Nothing, just impressed. I didn't think I would feel like this even without a fight. Damn, now I hope you get to become a God as soon as possible!"

"Ha!" Oscar scoffed and then shook his head, "I don't think that's happening anytime soon... sigh, still, glad that studying for the past month proved to be a good decision. It made Jun'er annoyed as hell though..."

"Oh, yeah, about that," Ja Sun looked at his silver-haired brother, "When are you two getting married?"

The question made Oscar wince slightly.

Even before the news of Jun'er's pregnancy and all this war nonsense that Bibi Dong actually used as one of the greatest opportunities... a prank turned reality, if you will, Oscar was reluctant on marrying. Heck, Oscar and Jun'er were now engaged, but the duo still hadn't set any date or made any plans.

"I... don't know..." Oscar grumbled quietly.

"Maybe I can help?" Ja Sun offered.

"You— pfft—" Oscar tried stifling his chuckle but, "Hahahahahahaha!" Erupted into a full-blown belly laugh as he fell back on the sandy surface and patted his stomach.

Ja Sun accepted it though.

Still...

1 minute.

2 minutes...

3 minutes...

The sound of laughter continued to echo and Ja Sun finally shot back with an annoyed look, "You know, cunt, I'm married to two women, one of whom you begged to. I've got Erlong who'd snap you half in bed and Zi Ji who'd straight up swallow you. And, I'm on a track record for Yuehua, Ja Yin, Violet, Xiao Wu, and Xiao Bei! Fucker, I AM better at it than you, relationships, that is."

And that... made Oscar choke on his own saliva since it was true.

"Damn... you're right," Oscar wiped the stray tear away and sat up while heaving deeply, "I don't know, really. Marrying sounds... weird. But not marrying Jun'er sound even weirder. I love her, make no mistake but—"

"You've got a nasty case of bitch paws, otherwise known as Cold Feet. Which is weird since Jun'er is the bitch among the two of you," Ja Sun interrupted with a decisive tone that left no room for retort while Oscar digested his words.

"Did you make up Bitch Paws?" The youth questioned with a strange expression.

"Not important, but what about it?"

"Bitch paws isn't real."

"Bitch, please. Bitches have paws."

"Still makes no sense."

Ja Sun shot Oscar an annoyed glare before scoffing, "Stop changing the subject and marry her will you?"

"Wow, suddenly, all my concerns just vanished into thin air," Oscar mocked in a derisive tone.

"What concerns?" Ja Sun raised his brow.

"Well..." Oscar began before ultimately frowning.

"See? This is a case of Bitch Paws. Jun'er fucking loves your tofu stench, and I don't know why. Believe me, if I had a Jun'er, I'd collar her up real quick!"

"Hey!" Oscar scoffed and crossed his arms.

"You know what I'm getting at," Ja Sun rolled his eyes. Besides, he had collars for other girls now.

"So... it's really just cold feet?" Oscar hesitated.

"Bitch Paws, indeed."

"Cold feet."

"Bitch. Paws." Ja Sun asserted.

"Whatever," Oscar rolled his eyes and mused, "So... you're saying that all I need to do is go through with it?"

"Well, yeah," Ja Sun shrugged the unprofessional marriage counselor he was. Still, he had experience under his belt in the form of a little birdy previously obsessed over her brother.

"Hmm... thanks. This helped. So? Do we fight?"

"Nah," Ja Sun grinned, "Color me impressed cause you won. I'll have something cool for you later and oh, tell Jun'er I'd be willing to give her a huge discount as a gift for your marriage."

"Hmm, neat," Oscar smiled as he stood up. Jun'er already had her rank 70 Spirit Soul and also had a core and corpse ready to trade.

"Well, fuck off then," Ja Sun scoffed with a smile, "And don't tell others how you won."

"For your information, it's called Cold Feet," Oscar smirked as he disappeared, making Ja Sun snicker, "Bitch."

Again, he was thoroughly impressed by Oscar. The man made use of most of the things that would make him a threat to his peers. That's not just talent but awareness that not even Ah Yin may have. Some may even call this the talent of the weak but still... Ja Sun truly was surprised that the only possible 'winner' would come out unscathed... which was impressive in its own way.

'Maybe I should open marriage counseling sessions for beasts... The Divine Union... what a name. And a divorce counseling unit beside it named The Divine Parting...'
