Lone knight attacks
[EIGHT FINGERS Base south of the capital]
Black Dust was a drug that was very essential to the entirety of Eight Fingers, Yes there were other departments that brought in a ton of profit such as gambling however drugs were easier for people to get addicted to which Made them easier to enslave and people who are mildly addicted to the drug are also people who visit Eight fingers gambling dens the most, as such the drug department is essential to Eight fingers and was the most profitable department in The organisation.
This meant that unlike other departments, the Department head Hilma had more than enough income to have 3 black dust production bases near the capital, one being south, which was the one relevant right now.
“Well this was a lucky coincidence”
Zero uttered as he was seated on a couch with a thick steak at his table and red wine, the stake wasn't just cow meat but instead it was buffalo that he hunted himself or rather wrestled and killed with his bare hands, opposite him were two Members of his department Six arms, Davernoch and Succulent. Davernoch was reading a tome that, from Zero's perspective looked very unsettling, and near Davernoch was Succulent who was eating a typical Dinner meal, that consisted of rice, baked potatoes, broccoli and Chicken, with tea on the side.
To Zero seeing a vulgar man like Succulent Display impeccable table manners was an odd sight.
“What is a coincidence?”
Davernoch asked with His raspy voice. As an Elder lich, his voice carried a menacing aura that stunned any individual who heard it, but Zero and the others around him had overcome it long ago.
“Hilm just sent me a message via scroll. Apparently, she wants me to get rid of the swordless swordsman.”
“Would it not be better to recruit him?”
Davernoch asked. He was going to add a follow for the fact that Zero failed to clarify, the Coincidence in killing engaging the swordless swordsman, but Zero quickly spoke before Davernoch could get a word out.
“It would, but this is a job for a client, and the reason it's coincidence is because I kinda want to fight him myself, but now I get to get paid for doing It”
He had been debating the pros and cons of actually recruiting the princess’ knight but at the same time he wished to personally appraise how good this swordsman who never uses his sword but it seems he gets to do that anyway and will get paid for it which is even better.
“By the way, Zero. What's happening in E-Rantel? I thought we were working on taking it over. i haven't heard any progress regarding that”
Succulent asked as he wiped the food off his lips and took a sip of his glass of water that was beside his plate.
“Yeah Zweden says that's not going well, apparently the viscount in charge of E-Rantel is clean and is loyal to the king so any attempt at bribe have been unsuccessfully, the only option is to have him killed but we have no control on which noble will replace him so we're kind of stuck right now”
Zero explained. Nothing is more of a pain in the ass than a person that can't be bought. The mayor of E-Rantel Panasolei Gruze Day Rettenmaier, is a fat bloated pig of a man that at first glance One would easily assume he is a greedy noble that cares more about his pocket than anything however that would be wrong. He is a rarity amongst Nobles, caring more about his city and commoners than about himself, a loyal patriot of His kingdom ready to serve anyway He can.
“Well that sucks”
“Yes it does. We completely underestimated him, thinking He was like all nobles, but regardless of a strategy ready to deal with him has already been dec–”
“hold that thought, our prey is here”
Zero was unable to finish his sentence as Davernoch interrupted him, as he sensed a presence that entered the base. He pulled out a bluish crystal ball from within his robes and showed it to the others. The ball displayed a video image of a lone knight entering the base after dispatching the only guards that guarded the gate
“Wasn't it supposed to be a blue rose that we were supposed to ambush? three of us seem overfill for just one guy”
Succulent asked disappointedly as he looked at the blonde haired knight looking around in a bit of confusion, almost as if he expected something more.
“That’s just not any guy, that's the swordless swordsman, talk about coincidences, Davernoch release the undead, let's see if he's actually as good as they say”
“oh ho, so that is what he looks like? He'd make an excellent zombie
“and of course, he's a handsome little bastard”
Succulent rolled his eyes as he spoke right after Davernoch. None of them had actually met Arthur before, but there's plenty of description from the locals enough to identify him just off his armor. Zero couldn’t help but smile. Today was oddly a good day, it seemed.
……
“well that was anti-climactic, I expected to get jumped like right away”
Arthur sighed as he rubbed the back of his head with one hand, and the other was on his hip. The main reason he even suggested that he came here alone was because he wanted to fight. He wouldn't call himself a battle junkie but a good battle is a good battle
“Wait, this place is oddly empty? Even for an ambush, there should still be some activity to keep up the facade”
He before turning around and looked at the two guards he killed, or at least he thought he killed them but looking at them now he could see, their bodies were that of undead and before he could turn around again, the moans of the undead echoed from every direction alerting him that he was surrounding.
The undead were a mix of zombies, skeletons, and fresh bodies, and from every crevice and corner and door, the undead poured out into the open, and Arthur couldn't help but hate the situation.
“oh come on! I'm tired of fighting undead. They're boring”
He complained, having fought a horde of undead in E-Rantel, Arthur was not keen on fighting them again, plus in order to properly master the fillet and dismantle techniques and a achieve a Domain expansion he needs a battle a challenging battle, something that will stimulate his mind and allow him to achieve Domain expansion, anything that won't have him sit for hours meditating.
“Let's take care of them, I can at least train the technique.”
He sighed before he took a deep breath and put out his arms, the Cursed Technique Uses his magic reserves to activate and in order to use it he has to use his hands or arms, the goal currently is to use a single Hand to unleash multiple slash.
The approach of the undead was slow at first, however in a sudden they began to move quickly, almost as if their agility has increased and they moved at the speed of an adult human male quickly approached their target, however right before they could arrive at their prey a powerful burst of power flung the undead through the and and cleared out the area, the force of the attack was so powerful that it pushed away the buildings nearby.
“no, damn not what I wanted to happen.”
While the undead were struggling to stand, Arthur once again took a breath and closed his eyes and began once again.
“Alright imagine The Slashes, Imagine them!!”
He said with finality, once Again his eyes Shut and he took a deep Breath, focus on the image of thin invisible lines, he listened as the undead shot up From the rubble and this time began to sprint towards him and began to swarm him however the same thing repeated itself, the undead Were once again flung into the air and crashed on the rubble.
“COME ON! IMAGINE THEM, IMAGINE!!!”
He shouted. Unfortunately, this time, the undead did not get up, but instead, a voice echoed out from all directions.
“You know blowing things away with magic is fun and all, but it just shows you can't actually fight, to think this is what got you, your moniker, pathetic”
Succulent’s voice rang all around, an attempt from him to confuse Arthur, but it did not work as the knight was able to lock into his location quite easily.
“not any more pathetic than the guy who uses tricks to win battles, illusion demon my ass, there's nothing demonic about you, you're just an ugly dude trying to act cool”
Arthur responded, and his words caused the illusion demon to scowl, he was half angry and half pleased, pleased because someone actually knew him as the illusion Demon and at first glance too.
“hey at least my name is on Point. Using wind magic to blow opponents away doesn’t make you a swordsman”
“yeah and just because you are demonically ugly doesn't mean you get to be called a demon”
Once again Succulent scowled deepening the frown on his face, he wasn’t super proud of his looks but that didn't matter as long as he was strong but there's a difference between acknowledging yourself as ugly and being told you're ugly as such the insults from Arthur caused him to grind his teeth
“you talk a lot for someone who is about to be six feet–”
Unfortunately he could not finish that sentence as Arthur quickly spun around and Succulent received a powerful punch to the face, one that forced one of his teeth out of his mouth and sent him tumbling across the ground.
“Really? You couldn't hide the sound of your gnashing teeth? What kind of illusionist are you?”
Arthur questioned as he looked at the man trying to stand up after a devastating punch to his face. In terms of powerful characters, Succulent was not one of them. If this is the dude they got for an ambush, then Blue Rose would have easily done this job without back up.
.......
A/N: Here's another chapter, the script for this chapter was actually much different from what turned out, I didn’t want Arthur to ba able to something he previously couldn't do out of nowhere so I kinda of compromised and had him do in battle training, hope it wasn't boring.
Thoughts on the chapter? Did you like it? I hate it. Please share your thoughts.
Love yall, and I appreciate your support. Thank you.
Also there's like 2 chapters I skipped and didn't post, so things might get confusing if you don't go back like two chapters to read them. Both chapters have talking in the title.
