Pokemon:Ruin hunter

Chapter 31: CHAPTER-31

Mt.silver:

In a underwater lake, a blue turtle with a long neck was looking at it's trainer with a determined gaze.

"Are you sure about this?" Noah asked lapras while he stood on top of it.

"Laa!" Hundreds of lapras surrounded both Noah and lapras as they encouraged lapras.

Lapras looked at each one of them with a gaze of longing and finally nodded at Noah's question.

'Well if its what she wants.' Noah still felt a bit dejected for not being able to convince lapras.

The current scenario was caused when he entered mt.silver with the help of the map and accidentally encountered a pack of lapras.

Lapras always wanted to meet her family or atleast anyone from her species because she always felt isolated whenever she was around others.

She felt lonely even though Noah and his Pokemon tried to bond with her.

Noah took out a pokeball and released a green turtle into the water and switched his surfing Pokemon and jumped on top of torterra.

He and lapras looked at eachother for a moment and Noah finally sighed and released her from her pokeball by destroying it.

"I hope you will have a happy life." Noah said his goodbyes and ordered torterra to leave who was now confused by this conversation.

But that didn't stop him from swimming away despite his heavy weight.

In his heart, he is still a turtwig.

Lapras stayed there for a long time until the slowly swimming green turtle vanished from her sight.

She sighed and turned towards the pack of lapras' and saw that they were leaving.

She immediately took off and followed them with newfound joy of meeting her species.

Even though a feeling of emptiness was present in her heart she decided to focus on what mattered to her right now.

The pack left towards their base.

Never to be seen again because of what would happen in a few hours.

Meanwhile, Noah sat on top of torterra while munching on some Oran berries that grew on torterra's tree.

'To be honest I didn't feel too sad about releasing her.' Noah didn't really get a chance to connect with lapras as most of the time, she was kept inside her pokeball.

'Well I only caught her because she was rare.'

Noah wiped the berry juice around his mouth using some tissues he took from his bag and stood up.

'If it was my other Pokemon I would've felt depressed, that's why I didn't try my best to convince her.'

'This is why I wanted to keep my team under 8 Pokemon because bonding with them and taking care of each and every one of them is a hassle.' Noah finally saw some land as he recalled torterra and stepped onto the ground.

He released golbat and started walking.

'Enough about that, I am sure she will be happy.' Noah didn't want to think too much about it as he took out a map.

'To be honest I don't know how to read a map.'

Noah just chose a random path and followed it.

'I need to find their base and if it isn't abandoned I will call for backup.' Noah clutched his pendant as the wails got more louder and feral as he started walking on the path he chose.

'It seems like I chose the right one.' He sped up his pace as golbat perched on his shoulders.

"Are you ready?" Noah asked with a smile to which golbat nodded.

They both looked forward to the encounter with the secret cult.

Not only them, a certain chicken and a sea serpent were waiting for their turn.

Noah went through many twists and turns which he navigated using the pendant and tried to avoid wild Pokemon.

He didn't have to try as there were no wild pokemon present here.

'Creepy.' Noah started to get goosebumps with each step forward.

He wanted to leave as quick as possible but his curiosity didn't allow it.

'So what if there is a Pokemon equivalent to Arceus? Will that stop me?' Noah's determination soared.

Yes, it indeed will stop him.

But that's not the point.

'Oh this is going to trigger my claustrophobia.'

Noah looked at the narrow walls as he prepared for one of his worst fears.

He took a deep breath and entered it.

He squeezed through, some scratches appeared on his clothes, sometimes he wanted to get out, but he kept on going.

'Finally!' Noah passed the narrow passage and entered a big empty dome with nothing in it.

'I am a hundred percent sure that it is hidden.'

Noah kept on walking around the dome again and again checking every corner and wall.

The thing was that he didn't notice that he was walking in a certain pattern.

As he was about put a step forward, his vision went dark.

Complete darkness where even light cannot escape.

'What?' Noah held his bag close and golbat was nowhere to be seen.

"Don't be afraid, go forward." A voice whispered in his head.

'Wait no!' Noah wanted to turn back but his body moved on its own as he continued to walk forward.

'Same thing that happened when I was captured.' Noah felt hopeless as he used all his willpower to run away but it was futile.

Finally he arrived at the place where he thinks his destination is.

It was the same dome but now it was filled with carvings and the walls depicted ancient glyphs of sacrifices.

Most importantly unown letters.

But what caught Noah's attention wasn't the carvings instead it was the throne on a raised platform in the centre where a man was sitting with his head down.

Noah's body started to approach the man and Noah just gave up.

As Noah was halfway through the steps, the man raised his head and said in a tired tone: "It seems like Darkrai kept his promise."

The voice send a chill down Noah's spine as it sounded somewhat familiar.

He carefully inspected the man's face which caused him to be more anxious.

The man wore black robes filled with unown letters and his hood was lowered revealing his face.

He had jet black hair which cascaded down his shoulder, an extremely handsome face with chiseled features and his eyes had pitch black pupils wth no trace of light in them.

"Hello Noah." His mouth curved into a small smile as he friendly greeted Noah.

"You are the cult leader right?" Noah was on guard as he clenched his left hand into a fist.

The man seemed to be in thought for a while and he answered: "Kind of."

"I think I am the 25th or something." He continued.

'There is more? That isnt much of a suprise to be honest.' Noah knew that the Pokemon world had different laws but he was sure humans couldn't achieve immortality.

"You're wrong, we have achieved immortality long ago." The man corrected Noah.

'Mind-reading?' Noah got more vigilant.

"Don't worry I will not harm you, even I wanted to." The man tried to calm Noah down.

An awkward silence enveloped the surroundings.

After a few seconds Noah calmed down and asked: "So what am I doing here?"

"Well about that....let's just say that one of our lifelong projects have been achieved." The man made a dramatic pause and answered.

'Lifelong project? Does that have something to do with me?' Noah knew that they were targetting him for a reason.

"You're smart so so as a gift I will tell you the name of this project."

"It is called- Noah's ark." A creepy smile adorned the man's face as he maintained eye contact with Noah trying to see his reaction.

'Funny how an evil cult took inspiration from the bible.' The name didn't explain everything so Noah asked: "What does it have to do with me other than the name?"

The man held his fingers together as he leaned back into the throne and said with a playful smile: "Noah did you know that by an estimation there were 6,744 creatures on Noah's ark?"

Noah obviously shook his head because he never knew that he needed to know about them.

"So do you know how your revival work? It's a equivalent exchange, a life for a life." The man continued.

"During the quest for immortality, we tried everything but we couldn't bypass the laws set by Arceus so we changed it to a incomplete version of possession." When he said the name of the god of Pokemon there was clear disdain present on his face.

"The first cult leader chosen by our god was someone like you- someone from another world."

'Not much of a suprise.' Noah was ready for that.

"Oh wait, that's wrong forget it, there was only one reincarnator and that was him." Thean corrected himself.

That suprised Noah as he asked: "What do you mean by that?"

"Wait I am getting there." The man raised his palm to silence Noah.

"So yeah, our first leader was something you would call a emo."

"He lived his entire life as a miserable fucker and his only joy was some anime called Pokemon."

"I don't want to tell you his entire life story but in short he was depressed and edgy and one day he slipped on some stairs and died."

"He was chosen by our god and became his messenger and did a lot of crazy stuff."

'We have the same death but I am pretty sure I wasn't an emo.' Noah hoped he wasn't one.

'But what does him being an emo have to do with this.' Noah felt like that this man just threw that in because why not.

"So he was the one who discovered the possession method and he tried it on all his loyal subordinates." The man's face twitched slightly when he mentioned possession but Noah didn't notice it.

"A vessel would be prepared for him and he would slowly possess them."

"It was like poison, slowly corrupting your body, but he corrupted both your soul and body."

The man pointed his index finger towards his face as Noah could see a blond man with blue eyes for a split second.

"You will slowly turned into him." His face returned to normal.

'I still don't understand what that has to do with me.' Noah sighed in frustration in his mind.

"But he wasn't done, his greed wasn't over, he wanted to achieve immortality, he conducted heinous crimes to achieve his goals." The man's face showed some fear as he recalled some memories.

"Atlast he found a solution, the souls of newborns was his previous one but it didn't grant the revival he had in mind, so he found a new one."

"This includes any ages or gender but they all needed something in common, they needed to be at their breaking point filled with despair but still wanting to live."

"After that their souls were harvested and the leader chosen the name Noah's ark because he was still the same person at heart."

'This may sound horrendous but they only got 6,744 souls?' Noah could piece together what he was trying to say.

He may be looking alright and thinking alright but he knew he was not okay at all.

"Ofcourse not, you think six thousand souls are enough to even revive you?"

"This was a problem and the leader didn't want to change the name so he made a new method to compress thousands of souls into one single soul, some may contain millions."

"And every single 6,744 souls in your body is a compressed soul."

The man stopped and let the silence engulf the room again.

He knew even though Noah was looking at him with a neutral face, he was having a full on existential crisis inside.

Noah looked at the man sitting on the throne with an emotionless face.

'I really want to kill him.' Noah didn't know why but he just wanted to.

'So then if I am something used for their leader's revival and the person who died by slipping on some chairs is him, then who am I?' Noah unclenched his fists.

'Then that means the memories from my previo- oh, I don't have any memories of my previous life.' Noah felt lost.

He didn't know how to react to this.

He didn't know what he should do now.

He wasn't sure who was right.

Most importantly he didn't know who he was.

Noah saw that his vision was going dark again as a feeling of nausea hit him.

He stood there waiting with no vigilance he had from earlier.

After a few moments he returned to the previous dome.

Immediately upon sensing Noah's arrival a blue bat flew towards him with worry on its face.

"I'm fine." Noah petted golbat's head while the bat did not believe him one bit.

Golbat then pointed towards the centre of the dome as Noah's sight turned towards it.

'Hmm? Something new that wasn't here previously?' Noah started to approach it.

Without an identity, without someone to call friend or family, without someone to trust,

He stepped forward because he knew he couldn't step back anymore as he was far too gone.

He knew even if he tried he couldn't escape it's claws.

Even though he didn't know what it was, his instincts and the ghostly wails he recently started to hear were proof.
