Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Training Plan and Lucky Draw
In the afternoon, after a brief rest, Ash and Misty prepared separate training grounds to focus on improving their Pokémon. Misty, determined to enhance the skills of her Staryu and Starmie, originally considered assisting Ash in his training. However, after hearing Ash's detailed plan, she realized he had everything covered and decided to focus on her own training instead.
Ash, meanwhile, sat on the grass with his arms folded, addressing his Pokémon, Pikachu, and Pidgey, with a serious yet encouraging tone.
"Pikachu, you've already mastered Thunder Shock and Quick Attack. To improve further, you need to increase your power and learn new moves," Ash began, his voice filled with determination.
"Pikapika!" Pikachu nodded in agreement. With the strength gained from the legacy of the Soaring in the Sky Dragon of Osiris, Pikachu felt its power growing steadily. However, it understood that mastering new moves was crucial for future battles.
"Your next goal is to master Thunderbolt!" Ash continued. "It's stronger and faster than Thunder Shock. Once you master Thunderbolt, you'll be able to handle most situations with ease. It's a versatile and powerful move."
Pikachu's eyes sparkled with excitement. Although it was familiar with Thunderbolt, it had yet to master it.
"Thunderbolt is essentially a more advanced version of Thunder Shock," Ash explained, recalling what Professor Oak had taught him. "It requires channeling more energy, which increases its power to a new level. This afternoon, your training will focus on maximizing your energy output to create a stronger current. Once you've perfected it, you'll be able to execute Thunderbolt with ease!"
"Pika!" Pikachu raised its small paw in a gesture of determination, vowing to give it its all.
"Good! Now, go and start practicing," Ash said, giving Pikachu an encouraging pat on the head. As Pikachu moved to the side to begin training, Ash turned his attention to Pidgey.
"Pidgey, I don't yet know all the moves you've mastered," Ash said. "I need you to show me your skills so I can create a suitable training plan for you."
Pidgey flapped its wings and chirped eagerly, ready to demonstrate its abilities. It soared into the air and began its showcase.
The first move Pidgey displayed was Tackle. A translucent white energy enveloped its body as it rushed forward, skimming over the surface of a nearby pond before returning to Ash's side.
"Not bad," Ash remarked with a nod. Tackle was a fundamental move that most Pokémon learned early on.
Next, Pidgey flapped its wings with increased intensity, generating a strong gust of wind that rippled the pond's surface.
"Gust," Ash noted, impressed. Gust was a basic Flying-type move that didn't require much skill, but it was still an accomplishment for a relatively inexperienced Pokémon like Pidgey.
Before Ash could finish his thought, Pidgey executed yet another move. Its wings glowed with a sky-blue energy, which extended outward to form a spectral shape mirroring its wings. With a powerful flap, Pidgey demonstrated Wing Attack.
"Wing Attack?!" Ash exclaimed, surprised and delighted. This was a move typically mastered by more experienced Pokémon. For a Pidgey to learn it at this stage was exceptional, marking it as a Pokémon with remarkable potential.
After completing its demonstration, Pidgey landed in front of Ash, looking proud but eager for feedback.
"You've done great, Pidgey," Ash said warmly. "Learning Tackle, Gust, and Wing Attack at your level is impressive. But we need to address some gaps. You haven't yet mastered Quick Attack or Sand Attack, which are essential for adaptability in battle."
Ash thought for a moment before continuing. "Quick Attack will be our priority. It's a powerful move that complements your speed and allows you to strike first, catching opponents off guard. Let's focus on that."
Pidgey chirped in agreement. It had always wanted to learn Quick Attack but never understood how to go about it. Ash's explanation provided the clarity it needed.
"Start by channeling your energy into a burst of speed," Ash instructed. "The key is to focus on moving so fast that you become a blur to your opponent. Keep practicing, and you'll master it soon!"
With newfound determination, Pidgey flew to the side to begin its training.
As Ash took a moment to observe Misty's progress with Staryu and Starmie, he felt a sense of satisfaction. His Pokémon were on the right path, and their training was progressing well. Turning his focus inward, Ash accessed the system within his mind.
"I still have two chances for a lucky draw," he mused. "Let's see what I get. Ideally, I'd want another inheritance, but even some valuable items would be great."
He activated the system's lottery feature, watching the slot machine interface spin rapidly. Names of items and skills flashed across the screen in a blur.
"Stop!" Ash commanded, pressing the button. The spinning slowed to a halt, and the result was revealed: a Technical Machine.
"A TM?" Ash muttered, slightly disappointed. "Not bad, though. Let's see what move it teaches."
He examined the item closely, and a description appeared:
"Technical Machine: Aerial Ace. Using this TM allows a Pokémon to immediately master the move Aerial Ace, becoming proficient without any additional training."
Ash's eyes widened. "Immediately master the move? This is incredible! Pidgey will be able to use Aerial Ace like a seasoned pro right away!"
Aerial Ace was a powerful Flying-type move known for its speed and accuracy, making it a valuable addition to any Flying-type Pokémon's arsenal.
Without hesitation, Ash decided to use the TM on Pidgey. Calling it over, he said, "Pidgey, I've got something special for you. With this, you'll be able to master Aerial Ace instantly. Are you ready?"
Pidgey chirped enthusiastically, flapping its wings in anticipation.
As Ash activated the TM, a soft glow enveloped Pidgey. Moments later, the light faded, and Pidgey let out a confident cry, its newfound power evident.
"Try it out!" Ash encouraged.
Pidgey took to the air, soaring high before diving in a rapid, precise arc. Its speed and technique were flawless, leaving Ash grinning with pride.
"This will definitely give us an edge in battles," Ash thought.
Feeling a renewed sense of purpose, Ash looked at his Pokémon. "We're getting stronger every day. With hard work and determination, we'll reach the top!"
As the afternoon sun began to set, the training session continued, filled with energy and promise for the future.
