Pokemon: Radical Redux

{Next day}

Lance walks into the top stands where Oak is waiting for him, but when he gets there he sees a man he recognizes, Charles Goodshow the President of the League Competition Committee.

"Long time no see Mr. President, and Oak you as well," Lance nods respectfully.

Oak gave a nod back but Mr. Goodshow chuckled, "There is no need for that, after all, we are not strangers, where is the Elite 4 if I may ask?"

"They are a bit behind schedule, Lorelei chose to stay behind and teach them a thing to two,"

Goodshow smiled and stroked his beard as he looked out of the window where the remaining top 8 were all told to go stand at, from there, Lance could see 3 people of interest, Ash, Green, and Gary.

"All 3 of them managed to enter and reach the top 8 this year?"

Oak smiled, "I did train them myself, I'm quite proud of how far they have gotten,"

"I can see that, especially since they all started this year, that's quite impressive,"

Goodshow rubbed his beard, "Yes those 3 you speak of are quite impressive, I can tell that they all have potential, heh maybe after this if they win they'll go after your spot,"

Oak and Lance both exhaled heavily knowing none of the 3 wanted to be champion, "Don't keep your hopes up,"

Goodshow chuckled, "Well is there a specific one that catches your eye?"

"Well I'd be lying if I didn't want my grandson to win," Oak said

Then a 4th voice of an old woman spoke, "Ahh yes Gary, and your blatant favoritism," from the side Agatha walked out slowly.

Oak flinched slightly, "O-oh Agatha, I didn't know you were also coming to watch,"

"Well why would I miss it, after all I'm retired now so I have a lot of free time," Agatha said as she walked forward and looked out of the window, "I must say Gary is nothing like you were when you were his age, but then I suppose neither was Blue,"

Oak chuckled helplessly, "Yeah, it makes me wonder what happened to my side of the genetics,"

"Well, he has your looks if that makes you feel any better you old man," Agatha said grinning ear to ear.

As they were going back and forth Goodshow looked at Lance, "And what about you, is there someone who catches your eye?"

"Well, I suppose you can say that it's more that I was impressed by this individual," Lance said

Oak was bantering with Agatha looking for a way to escape when he realized something, "That reminds me I need to go down there bye!" Oak said as he moved as fast as he could

Lance sighed helplessly as Goodshow was chuckling, he could see the Kanto Elite 4 walking in with them with them the Johto Elite 4 also followed.

As they entered they all started talking about this year's competitors, but Lance seemed to be a bit distracted as he narrowed his eyes as he looked down, and focused on Ash.

The spotlight was on them now, a Rotom Drone was circling them getting good shots of all the remaining competitors, now that they were in the top 8 the real Indigo League would begin.

All over Kanto and even in other regions this was being broadcasted, people everywhere were brimming with excitement wondering who would fight who and who would win.

Once the announcer finished introducing them he continued, "The Indigo League is by far the Oldest among all the regions, we have been told that it is outdated and it needs to change."

Then as he spoke someone holding a torch ran out and stopped, then from the other side none other than Samuel Oak walked out without his lab coat and took the flame, the flame of Moltres.

It also caused Gary who was standing right next to Ash to look at Oak in pure confusion.

"But to that we in Kanto say, who cares!" the announcer said as the crowd of those who live in Kanto started cheering, "We are Kanto, we walked so they could run. Why should we change who we are!"

Oak started running with the flame climbing the staircase leading to the unlit podium, "The sacred flames of Moltres represent us, it symbolizes that which we must overcome to become great and yet it never goes out like how our Kanto spirit will always prevail!"

As the crowd started cheering Oak continued running holding the flame high up, and when he reached the top he looked at it and then lit the fire indicating the true start of the Indigo League.

The announcer then gestured towards the screen above him, "We will now announce the battles!"

The screen started rapidly changing through every possible battle when suddenly 4 battles were chosen next to them the pictures of the people in question.

Gary VS Jeanette

Mina VS Green

Remo Vs Otoshi

Ash Vs Cross

The crowd started cheering as those who were going to fight looked at each other, and for the first time in a long time, Ash and Cross finally met eye-to-eye again.

{Gary VS Jeanette}

This battle was going as one might expect, Gary had the advantage however he was still on his second Pokemon being his Blastoise while Jeanette was on her last, being Bellsprout, after losing her other 2.

People were looking more intently at the battle although Gary had the clear advantage over this battle the people did see what Bellsprout could do and it had the type advantage.

Jeanette raised her arm, "[Energy Ball] rapid fire,"

Bellsprout reared her head back and started shooting out a barrage of small [Energy Balls] from her circular mouth.

Meanwhile Gary smirked and raised his arm, "[Withdraw] then [Rapid Spin],"

Blastoise retreated to his shell as he launched himself through the air getting closer and deflecting the smaller [Energy Balls] before finally getting close.

"Now [Ice Punch]"

Blastoise stuck out his head and arm as he threw a frozen fist toward Bellsprout, however, Bellsprout managed to dodge out of the way causing Blastoise to punch the ground.

Jeanette took this chance, "[Solar Beam]!"

As Bellsprout started charging up a beam in her circular mouth Gary called out, "[Withdraw]"

Blastoise retreated back into his shell just as Bellsprout finished charging, to anyone else they may have just released it at the shell hoping for reduced damage.

However, Jeanette smiled, "Bellsprout jump on Blastoise and shoot it inside the opening!"

Bellsprout jumped up and used her leaves to force the opening to be a little larger as she shot the [Solar Beam] directly inside of Blastoise's shell.

After which people watched with amazement that this Bellsprout might actually take down Blastoise, once Bellsprout finished it was silent for a moment.

But then Gary smiled, "[Skull Bash],"

Out of the opening, Bellsprout was in front of Blastoise shot his head out and he had an Ice helmet that he created with a [Ice Beam] then gave Bellsprout a headbutt so hard the ice helmet broke.

"Now let's end this [Blizzard]!" Gary commanded

Blastoise stomped on the ground as it started becoming light blue with ice, including where Bellsprout was as it froze completely as more cold only came and Bellsprout started to freeze as she struggled.

But despite her best efforts eventually Bellsprout was turned into an ice statue.

"Bellsprout is unable to battle, which means that Blastoise is the winner and will move on to the next round!"

{Remo Vs Otoshi}

Otoshi's Nidoking fell to the ground with spirals in his eye, as on Remo's side his Gurdurr also fell, meaning they were both left with only their last Pokemon.

Otoshi returned Nidoking and without hesitation let Marowak out, and Remo did return Gurdurr but he held his last Pokemon holding Garchoo.

"He, kid you're not half bad, in any other situation I might lose you know, however, I do have something you don't," Remo said as he finally threw out his last Pokemon Garchoo.

Otoshi and Marowak got in position, "And what is it that you think gives you the edge in this battle?"

Remo spun his umbrella around, "Let me show you, a power that you don't have!" then he pressed the top of his umbrella as a bright light erupted from it, "Mega Evovle!"

Garchoo was enveloped in a bright light as his body began changing then extending his claws replaced with Axes as now Garchoo had mega evolved.

The crowd started cheering and screaming as page flipping could be heard over the intercom, "Ah yes here we are Mega evolution, folks what you are seeing here is Mega evolution a power that happens when you have a Pokemon and a respective stone pulse a bond to create a new power!"

"It is not as common here in Kanto it is more prevalent in Hoenn and Kalos but I suppose it is a good time to bring up the rules on gimmicks such as this, as per the tournament rules in all regions each participant can use only 1 gimmick if they have it so this is fair game!"

Otoshi gulped hearing the announcer's explanation of this new power in front of him, but still, he didn't back down, "Marowak [Bone Rush]!"

Remo smiled, "Garchoo [Dragon Rush]"

Marowak's bone glowed bright orange as Garchoo's arms glowed light blue and extended and they both started rushing towards each other, Marowak was faster so he managed to dodge the first hit and then land 1 hit on the arm.

Then Marowak jumped behind Garchoo and slammed his back with the bone before dogeing again and using it again on Garchoo's leg, then finally Marowak jumped high and spun his bone around ready to slam Garchoo across the head.

But then Garchoo raised his arms and caught Marowak's bone making him flinch but he didn't get a chance to react because Garchoo swiped his arm covered in that light blue energy directly into Marowak's stomach and sent him flying back.

Marowak was still up but he was barely up and coughing having to use the bone as a cane, but he was still willing to keep going, but then he took one step and fell over, finally dropping his bone.

"Marowak is unable to battle, this means that Garchoo is the winner!"

Remo laughed into the sky as Garchoo went back to base, meanwhile, Otoshi went over to Marowak and bent down, "It's ok partner, we did our best," then he returned him to the ball.

Suddenly Remo's foot came into Otoshi's view, when Otoshi looked up he saw Remo holding his hand out to help him up, "Pretty good kid,"

{Mina VS Green}

Both Green and Mina were down to their final Pokemon, Mina had her Ribombee out and Green had Gengar.

Mina held her arm behind her head stretching, "Man this is intense don't you think, I think I've got all kinds of inspiration now,"

Green was kinda taken aback by how Mina was acting in the middle of a battle, "Wh- I mean yeah, we are in the top 8 how could we not,"

Meanwhile, as they were talking Ribombee was shooting out [Energy Balls] and Gengar was shooting [Shadow Balls], as they were also frantically dodging each other.

Mina looked almost looking half asleep, "Heeey why do you look so serious we're just having fun."

Green sighed and held her head, 'Geez, is this how the boys feel when I act like this, no wonder.'

Then she shook her head, "Gengar [Sludge Bomb]!"

Gengar disappeared into the shadow but then reappeared inside Ribombee's shadow and jumped out, spitting out a deep purple gunk directly at Ribombee before running back to Green's side.

Mina looked at Green, "Heeey, we were talking,"

Green pointed at Mina, "This is a battle, not a picnic so get serious already!"

Mina tilted her head, "Oh ok if you say so," then she rolled up her sleeve where a bracelet with a pink gem was seen.

"What's this Folks, it looks like we're about to see a Z-move!" the announcer said

Green heard the announcer and flinched, she did know what Z-move where she just didn't expect to see them.

Mina pushed on the Gem as it started glowing, and then she began a weird-looking dance as Ribombee was covered in a bright orange light and was covered in Z-power.

Twinkle Tackle

From Ribombee multiple stars were created and started flying around everywhere, but the children were loving it, they were beginning to surround and hit Gengar as Ribombee was flying worse than him with z-power charged in her fist.

Green clenched her teeth then she felt something in her pocket, when she pulled out what it was she realized what she needed to do, afterall if Mina was allowed to do that why can't she do this?

As the stars completely covered Gengar Ribombee was flying around looking at it then as she sent a punch with the Z-power into the pile everyone heard something.

"Mega Evolve!"

From the pile of stars, a bright light erupted from the center and an explosion came from the Z-power and the new power, causing Ribombee to be sent back.

Then as everyone looked at where Gengar was and there they saw there was a purple gem floating near him, on his head a yellow orb that looked like a 3rd eye, and his arms were extending to the floor, he was Mega Gengar.

Green used the Mega stone she got all the way back from Looker on the S.S. Anne, at the time she didn't know who it was for but something just told her that it was for Gengar, and hey she was right.

She smiled again, "Gengar let's end this, [Shadow Ball],"

From the yellow gem on Gengar's forehead, a large dark purple orb was created as he shot it through Ribombee

Mina looked at the orb approaching and pointed at Ribombee, "Ribombee [Energy Ball]"

Ribombee nodded as she started charging up another green orb

"Oh no you don't [Disable]," Green commanded.

Gengar's eyes flashed red as suddenly Ribombee's attack fizzled out and before she could realize it the [Shadow Ball] was next to her and exploded.

After the smoke disappeared Ribombee was on the ground with spirals in her eyes and Gengar went back to base just laughing the entire time.

"Ribombee is unable to battle, meaning Gengar is the winner!"
