Chapter 32: Chapter 32

**Chapter 32: What Happened to My Daughter?**

"What? Me, picking up old shoes discarded by others? Ridiculous! I am not that kind of person!"

Listening to the strange man's mocking voice, Liu Erlong's anger boiled over. She hurled the watering can in her hand to the ground.

Crash!

The watering can be shattered into pieces, water spilling across the courtyard. If the watering can have thoughts, it might have wondered why its life ended in such an undignified manner.

But Liu Erlong wasn't in the mood to care about the gloriously retired watering can. Furious, she stomped over to a nearby stone bench, hands on her hips and eyebrows raised, looking ready to fight someone.

Before her anger could subside, the man's voice echoed again.

What? She almost married her cousin? Impossible! Absolutely impossible!

The diary claimed that if her father hadn't intervened, she would have become her cousin's bride.

A chill ran down Liu Erlong's spine. The thought of marrying her blood relative felt not only wrong but utterly revolting. Worse than a beast—it was unthinkable!

She shuddered, but her confusion grew. Why would she have insisted on marrying her cousin? Was he exceptionally handsome? Ridiculously strong? A literary genius? What could have driven her to ignore the taboo and push for such a union?

"No," she muttered. "There's no way. I'm not that kind of superficial person. This has to be a lie!"

At that moment, a man's voice called out from inside the house.

"Erlong, what's wrong? Why are you so upset? And why did you smash the watering can?"

A man in his forties stepped out, his heroic demeanor undiminished by age. His gaze, filled with kindness, fell on Liu Erlong.

Yu Luomian had always felt guilty toward his daughter. She had lost her mother young, and he had devoted himself to family affairs, leaving her to grow up largely on her own.

"It's nothing," Liu Erlong replied quickly, guilt flickering in her eyes. She worried—had her father heard the man's voice? Could he see the diary floating before her?

Trying to hide the diary, Liu Erlong reached out, but her hands passed right through it. She fumbled repeatedly, growing more anxious with each failed attempt.

Yu Luomian watched his daughter's strange behavior with mounting concern. Why was she flailing in the air? Her actions seemed erratic, even alarming.

"Erlong," he said, his voice trembling, "what's wrong? Are you feeling okay?"

"???"

Liu Erlong was bewildered. Was something wrong with her father's eyes? Why couldn't he see the diary?

Pointing at the ethereal "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary," she said, "Father, don't you see this? This diary is floating right here?"

Yu Luomian followed her gesture but saw only flowers and the courtyard wall. His heart sank.

"No… it's worse than I thought," he murmured to himself.

Had his neglect caused his daughter to develop psychological problems? Was she hallucinating? His guilt deepened.

"Erlong…" Yu Luomian sighed, walking over to gently stroke her head. "I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. Don't worry—I'll do whatever it takes to find a cure for you."

"Cure me?!" Liu Erlong froze, her hand still pointing at the diary. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"Father, I'm not sick. Look carefully—it's right here, this "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary." It even says…"

She tried to explain, but her voice suddenly failed her. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't utter a word about the diary's contents. Her mouth opened and closed soundlessly.

Yu Luomian's heart ached at her apparent struggle. With a heavy sigh, he withdrew his hand from her head and slapped himself hard across the face.

Smack!

"What a failure of a father I am!" he lamented. "I left her to grow up alone, and now she even struggles to speak. What right do I have to call myself her father?"

Smack!

Another slap echoed in the courtyard, followed by more. Yu Luomian's guilt drove him to punish himself, his hands raining blows on his face until his cheeks swelled.

"Father, stop!" Liu Erlong cried, rushing forward to grab his arms. Her heart ached to see him in such a state, though she couldn't explain the truth.

After finally calming down, Yu Luomian looked at her with tearful eyes.

"Erlong, I'll make this up to you. I swear I'll find a cure, no matter what. Now, tell me—what do you want to eat for lunch? I'll make you anything you want!"

Liu Erlong pressed a hand to her forehead, exhaling heavily. Clearly, her father couldn't see the diary or hear the strange man's voice. On top of that, she couldn't tell anyone about its contents.

Any attempt to speak about the diary left her mute, as though some mysterious force was blocking her words. It was unsettling and left her feeling stifled.

After a moment of silence, she looked at her father. "Father, I have a question for you."

Yu Luomian blinked in surprise. "What is it?"

Liu Erlong hesitated briefly before asking, "Is there a child named Yu Xiaogang in the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex family?"

Yu Luomian frowned deeply at the name. Yu Xiaogang—his nephew. Though he rarely thought of him, the boy's lack of talent left a bitter impression.

"Xiaogang?" he muttered. "Yes, he's my brother's second son. But he's a disgrace. He's already fifteen or sixteen, yet his soul power hasn't even reached level 20. A shame to our family name!"

Yu Luomian shook his head, disgust evident in his tone. "If he weren't my brother's son, he would've been expelled from the family long ago."
