Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Chapter 23: How to Win the Beauty
Bibi Dong was about to speak, but Yu Xiaogang had already taken the initiative.
"I'm sorry, Miss. I lost the silk handkerchief you gave me yesterday. It's my fault. A jealous villain knocked me out and stole it."
"..."
Bibi Dong was speechless. She looked at Yu Xiaogang, torn between disbelief and amusement. Was he truly this dense, or just pretending?
The reality was that she had beaten him up yesterday, reclaimed the handkerchief, and discarded it. Yet here he was, concocting a story about some envious thief. His naivety was almost laughable.
The Spirit Hall elites standing nearby exchanged bemused glances, unsure how to respond.
When did their young lady ever *give* him a handkerchief? It was clearly the one she threw on the ground in disgust, and this fool had picked it up, sniffed it like a pervert, and treated it as a prized gift. His behavior was beyond absurd.
Unable to bear it any longer, Bibi Dong had beaten him up, hoping to knock some sense into him. Yet, it appeared her efforts were in vain.
Some even suspected she might lash out and knock him unconscious again.
To their surprise, Bibi Dong chose a different approach. Once she understood Yu Xiaogang's warped perception, she offered a smile so gentle it could melt ice.
"You jest, sir. Once I give a handkerchief, it ceases to be my concern. If it has been taken, there's no need for apologies."
Her charming smile left Yu Xiaogang utterly captivated. He felt his heart soften; she was so breathtakingly beautiful, so kind, that he began fantasizing about their future. He even imagined what their child's name might be.
What a beautiful and kind woman!
Yu Xiaogang gazed at her with barely concealed infatuation, unaware of the flicker of disgust in Bibi Dong's eyes.
This guy was utterly delusional. How could he pick up a discarded handkerchief and transform it into a romantic token from her? If she were to give anyone a handkerchief, why on earth would it be him?
If she had to choose, wasn't Zhao Ling far more handsome and elegant? Not to mention, Zhao Ling was around 30 years old and already a Titled Douluo—a perfect match in strength and stature.
Meanwhile, Yu Xiaogang was nothing but a loser. What made him think he was worthy of striking up a conversation with her?
Her mind made up, Bibi Dong decided she would deal with him later. Somewhere secluded, she would teach him a lesson he wouldn't forget—blinding him, tying him up, and leaving him to reflect on his delusions.
Once Bibi Dong, Ju Douluo, and their entourage entered the Great Fighting Soul Arena, Yu Xiaogang trailed after them like a sycophant. His eager attempts to please were nothing short of embarrassing.
Bibi Dong ignored him completely.
Oblivious, Yu Xiaogang began pointing out the prominent fighters in the arena. He had been in Soto City for over a week and was well-acquainted with its competitors. Sharing his insights saved the Spirit Hall group considerable effort in assessing their opponents.
Even so, Ju Douluo frowned at Yu Xiaogang's sycophantic behavior.
As a member of the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex family—one of the Upper Three Sects—Yu Xiaogang belonged to a faction with strained ties to the Spirit Hall. Ju Douluo had no desire for his young lady, Bibi Dong, to grow too close to him.
If the Pope's most beloved disciple were to be led astray by someone from an opposing sect, Ju Douluo shuddered to imagine the repercussions.
Leaning close to Bibi Dong, he whispered, "Miss, that man is from the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex family. Given their history with the Spirit Hall, I suggest keeping your distance."
Bibi Dong smirked faintly, replying in an indifferent tone, "Don't worry, Elder Ju. I know what I'm doing. Do you think someone like him is worthy of my attention? If he weren't marginally useful, I would've had you throw him out already."
Their hushed conversation escaped Yu Xiaogang, who remained focused on ingratiating himself with the Spirit Hall group and, most importantly, winning Bibi Dong's heart.
As they wandered through the various arenas, they eventually reached the ninth one, where they encountered Zhao Ling and Ah Yin.
Bibi Dong greeted them with warmth and grace. After all, they had shared dinner and drinks the previous evening at the same hotel. Zhao Ling, a Titled Douluo, had even impressed Ju Douluo—a feat few could achieve.
Among the Spirit Hall contingent, Zhao Ling's power and mystique earned universal admiration, especially compared to Yu Xiaogang, whose usefulness was strictly informational.
Ah Yin, catching sight of Bibi Dong, noted her enhanced beauty today, courtesy of exquisite makeup. She pursed her lips in dissatisfaction.
'Zhao Ling's random musings in his diary caused this, didn't they?' Ah Yin thought bitterly. 'Why can't I ever surpass Bibi Dong in beauty?'
Bibi Dong, sensing Ah Yin's frustration, allowed herself a subtle, victorious smile. She knew she was the most beautiful woman in Zhao Ling's eyes and took immense pride in the fact.
Unaware of the silent competition between the two women, Zhao Ling cast a curious glance at Yu Xiaogang.
How had this fool managed to tag along with the Spirit Hall group after being beaten senseless by Bibi Dong the previous day?
Does this guy enjoy being mistreated? Zhao wondered. He seems almost immune to shame.
Turning his attention back to Bibi Dong, Zhao Ling praised her with effortless charm, "Miss Dong'er, you look breathtaking today—so stunning it's almost suffocating."
The compliment delighted Bibi Dong. She shot a triumphant glance at Ah Yin, whose cheeks puffed in indignation.
'Zhao Ling, are you kidding me?' Ah Yin seethed silently. 'Praising other women in front of me, even if we're not together anymore… could you at least be discreet about it?'
Meanwhile, Yu Xiaogang watched Zhao Ling interacting with Bibi Dong and felt an inexplicable surge of hostility. For the first time, he experienced a desire to eliminate someone.
What was happening to him? Why was he so angry?
