CHAPTER 8 : The Beam Of Extinction (End of Arc 1)
A colossal beam of light erupted from the ground, piercing the sky with its radiant intensity. Blue's heart quickened with unease as he watched the ominous spectacle unfold before him.
"What... what is that?" Blue asked, his voice trembling with fear.
Blue Spirit's expression grew solemn as he gazed upon the towering beam. "That, my dear Blue, is the ray of extinction," he replied gravely. "Anything it touches will wither and die."
Blue's eyes widened in horror as he struggled to comprehend the magnitude of the looming threat. "But where does it come from?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It emanates from the planet's core," Blue Spirit explained, his tone heavy with resignation. "The planet releases it every million years as a means of cooling down."
A sense of despair washed over Blue as he realized the gravity of their situation. "I suppose this is the end," he muttered, his voice laden with sorrow.
Blue Spirit shook his head, his eyes shimmering with quiet resolve. "No, my dear Blue," he countered gently. "This is not the end. It is the beginning."
With heavy hearts, Blue and the others followed Blue Spirit towards the towering beam, each step bringing them closer to their inevitable fate. As they drew nearer, the air crackled with energy, the oppressive weight of impending doom pressing down upon them.
Blue Spirit reached out and opened his chest, revealing a small seed nestled within its depths. "Take this, Blue," he said softly, placing the seed into Blue's trembling hands. "Bury it, and it will blossom into a tree that will shine brighter than any other."
Tears welled in Blue's eyes as he clutched the precious seed to his chest, overwhelmed by the weight of the moment. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
With a final, bittersweet glance, Blue Spirit stepped into the path of the beam, his form enveloped by its blinding light. As he disappeared into the radiant glow, a hauntingly beautiful melody emanated from his lips, filling the air with a sense of peace and tranquility.
Blue watched in silent anguish as Blue Spirit vanished into the shimmering light, his heart breaking with each passing moment. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he cried out in grief, his soul rent asunder by the loss of his dear friend.
As the remaining members of their group approached the beam, their forms began to dissolve into shimmering particles, their essence merging with the brilliant cascade of light. With heavy hearts and tear-stained faces, they joined Blue Spirit in his final journey, their spirits soaring towards the heavens.
Alone amidst the desolate landscape, Blue clutched the seed tightly to his chest, a beacon of hope amidst the encroaching darkness. With tearful eyes and a heavy heart, he knelt to the ground and planted the seed in the barren earth, whispering a silent prayer for a future bathed in the light of a new dawn.
