Chapter 34: Great Invasion
Days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years as time goes by. Each member of the Ainz Ooal Gown gradually starts to depart the guild due to the real-life cause as time goes on.
but at some point, Arthur suddenly realized that no one from his friend list had appeared online for several months. They did not write any messages to him or communicate with him in any other way. But he would have done it just to have his friends talk with him in any way. There was no one that he could talk to, no one to share his experiences with—except Friday.
After a period of time—perhaps two years—Arthur accepted the fact that his buddies would not return. He needs to quit being a child and move on.
And yet, without fail, each and every day, he would return to YGGDRASIL, looking forlornly, perhaps hopefully at his friend's list, specifically, at their status...
"Was online last 1 days ago."
"Was online last 150 days ago."
"Was online last 365 days ago..."
"Was online last 1240 days ago...
He would read the list of friends, short as it was, and die a little more inside.
He completed many quests. Cleaned out dungeons and fields. Fought many bosses.
It was even somewhat exciting at first, for the first couple of weeks at least. It was a new experience for Arthur—He was the lone wolf at the start of YGGDRASILL after he joined the Ainz Ooal Gown, he became used to the constant presence of his friends, their chatter and heated discussions. But then... then he got bored and then quickly became lonely when it became apparent that his friends won't be returning soon.
Yes, even when he was by himself, the adventures and missions did not grow worse. And as he came across more and more of the mythology and the fights grew more and more intriguing as he had to come up with more and more original strategies to deal with being a Solo Player, Arthur sometimes continued to be in awe of YGGDRASIL's sophisticated narrative and world-building. However, what was the purpose if he was unable to express his delight to anyone? There was nobody to debate the merits of a particular quest with, and nobody to proudly display the rare Legendary item he had laboured over for hours. The only person Arthur could speak to was Friday, which made everything feel so useless.
As the players began to leave, the overall ranking of the guild started to fall. The once ranked 1st guild, which terrorized the nine world slowly became ranked 3rd then to rank 10th.
It's not because Arthur is slacking off with the Guild–quests—there are Guild–quests that require a team to complete and due to Arthur being one man he couldn't complete them.
Then there was another option of recruiting new members for the Guild but Arthur discarded the very idea.
As the guild loses its power, those who hold a grudge against Ainz Ooal Gown begin to surface. And planned for an all-out raid to defeat the Ainz Ooal Gown and conquer the Great Tomb of Nazarick.
And the one who planned the raid was the {World Champion} of Asgard along with other guilds for different worlds. And they named themselves 'Union of Eight Guilds' and their purpose was to destroy the Ainz Ooal Gown and steal their legacy.
But what they didn't know was there was still one person in the Tomb, who is enough to destroy the whole 'Union of Eight Guilds' along with the army consisting of 1500 players.
The one they called Destroyer of the World.
The mastermind behind the Destruction of Asgard.
The King of Heteromorphic players.
... Ancient One.

"So, Friday, What do you think are the odds about them crossing the 6th floor." Arthur asked Friday as he was sitting on the giant throne—the world item called {Throne of Kings}.
The {Throne of Kings} is made from a single mass of obsidian. The throne's size is considered gigantic its back was high enough to touch the ceiling above where it is situated.
As a World Class Item it exhibits various abilities—When the user sits on the Throne of Kings, a buff can be seen on their status screen. What appears on the user's status screen are the statistics of its allies inside the Great Tomb of Nazarick, whether they're alive or under the influence of an unknown power/effect.
It also allows Arthur to control traps and armies within the Great Tomb of Nazarick. It had also defended the tomb against any kind of divination magic from the enemy that was used on them, activating countermeasures in its defence system as a response to the enemy. The defence system possesses several layers of protection. This helps make Nazarick an impregnable fortress in that regard when it comes to protecting the tomb from external attacks outside.
Hearing Arthur's question Friday replied.
[I think most of them wouldn't even get past the 4th floor. So my odds about them reaching the 6th floor is pretty much close to Zero, Sir.]
Friday was able to provide the precise response, but she still responded to him crudely.
"Okay, let's see how this bug plans to coordinate their attack. If the rest of them could reach the fifth floor, then I could definitely say something cool, " Arthur muttered as he stared at the screen that displayed the army of 1500 along with the summons and mercenary NPC.
"Let's show them the power of Nazarick." Arthur said, but there was only Albedo at his side and Friday at his mind.
🔹🔹🔹
The {Union of Eight Guilds} made their way towards the first floor of Nazarick, And What welcomed them was a Legion of Undead along with an army of Golems.
The Legion of Undead was under the control of an Undead Overlord called {Unborn}. {Unborn} is a level 100 summon, which Arthur obtained from a gacha. And this particular summon can be recalled after its death, just like {Evil Lords}, who are under Demiurge control.
But the Legion and Golems couldn't stop the advance of the 1500 level Max players but they were able to trim some of the players from the alliance.
The {Union of Eight Guilds} continue their march forward which while advancing to the second floor of Nazarick, where the floor guardian Shalltear Bloodfallen is stationed.
Noticing the intruders Shalltear quickly transformed into her battle form, When fully equipped in battle, Shalltear can be seen dressed in a suit of red-coloured full plate armour which looks like it has been drenched in blood. She wears a swan-shaped helmet that leaves only her pale face exposed. There are also plumes of avian feathers attached from either side of the helmet she wears. Additionally, the chest and shoulders of her armour have been styled into the shape of wings. She also has a crimson skirt-like armour covering her lower body.
Due to special effects of the floor—Arthur made using the WCI {Blood Rituals}—which made Shalltear powerful as each kill she takes. But she was only able to kill around 20 players before she was killed off and upon killing her a curse was released making all the players in contact with the curse lose 1% of their health per 30 sec.
It was the second effect {Blood Rituals} and because of these curses, hundreds of humanoid and Demi-human players lost their lives.
As the {Union of Eight Guilds} passed each floor, the number of casualties among the players also increased and added to the fact that additional debuffs as they entered the new floor and even after killing the floor guardian.
And because most of this debuff was caused by either a World class item or a Divine class item.
And upon arriving at the 4th floor only a handful of people were present, who didn't even have half of the health to continue their march. And they even used their world-class item to gain some advantage, but all of that fell useless before the sea of undead that blocked their path and the constant debuff that accumulated over their every advance.
Some members of the {Union of Eight Guilds} have already suggested to return but because of the effect of {Throne of Kings}, their teleportation was blocked leaving them no choice but to continue their raid.
🔹🔹🔹
After the Great Invasion, Ainz Ooal Gown's name once again spread across the YGGDRASILL as the unofficial number one guild that one-sided massacred the 1500 players.
But Arthur is obvious to all of this, started destroying the eight guilds that tried to destroy The Great Tomb of Nazarick.
