Chapter 16: The Sanctum of Eldraxis
The cool morning air clung to the cobblestone streets as the group set out from the capital of Aurelia. The cart creaked beneath them, its wheels rolling over uneven stones as the city slowly faded into the distance. Kalsei sat in the back, his legs swinging lazily over the edge, his usual bright grin plastered across his face. Steph sat beside him, arms folded, her dark eyes half-closed, enjoying the fleeting peace before the inevitable chaos that always seemed to follow them. Seikan sat near the front, his mind already racing with plans and possibilities.
As they ventured deeper into the countryside, the landscape transformed into wide, open plains dotted with patches of forest. The sun hung high in the sky, casting a golden hue over the world, but Kalsei could sense the growing tension in the air.
"Seikan," Kalsei called, breaking the silence, "what’s this Eldraxis place like, anyway? You’ve been awfully quiet about it."
Seikan didn’t turn around, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. "Eldraxis is the heart of arcane knowledge in this world. It's not a place for the unprepared. Magic permeates the very air, and the scholars there are among the most powerful mages in existence. If we’re going to unlock the full potential of that Titan Core, Eldraxis is where we need to be."
Kalsei nodded, though his grin had faded slightly. "Sounds intense."
"It is," Seikan replied coldly. "The people there are not ones to be trifled with."
Steph, still half-asleep beside Kalsei, let out a soft sigh. "Great. More uptight mages. Just what we need."
Kalsei chuckled. "Don’t worry, Steph. I’m sure you’ll charm them all with your sunny personality."
Steph shot him a sideways glance, her lips twitching into the faintest smirk. "You’re lucky you’re cute."
As the day wore on, the road stretched out before them, seemingly endless. The cart rattled over loose stones, and the rhythmic clatter of hooves filled the silence. Kalsei’s mind began to wander, his golden eyes flickering with thought. His abilities were growing, but the fight with the Shadowborne Titan had shown him that he was still far from mastering his powers. Reality Blink had been his first skill, the one he’d relied on the most, but it was becoming clear that he needed more.
Suddenly, a voice echoed through his mind.
System Alert: You have accumulated enough experience to level up Reality Blink. Would you like to proceed?
Kalsei blinked, momentarily startled by the sudden system message. His golden eyes glowed faintly as he focused inward, contemplating the offer. He needed more power—more control over his abilities if they were going to face whatever dangers lay ahead in Eldraxis.
(Yes, level up Reality Blink) he replied in his mind.
The familiar surge of energy rushed through him, his vision momentarily blurring as his body adjusted to the newfound power. The air around him seemed to shimmer, bending slightly as reality itself shifted in response to his will. His connection to the world felt deeper, more intuitive, as if the very fabric of space had become malleable in his hands.
Reality Blink (Level 2): You can now distort time in addition to space, allowing for brief moments of enhanced speed and perception. Cooldown reduced.
Kalsei grinned, feeling the new power coursing through him. "Oh yeah, this is going to be fun."
Steph glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. "What’s with the grin?"
Kalsei winked at her. "Just leveled up. Reality Blink’s got some upgrades."
Steph rolled her eyes. "Great. More reality-breaking nonsense from you."
"You know you love it," Kalsei teased, but there was a serious undertone to his voice. He wasn’t just playing around anymore. He was getting stronger—strong enough to take on whatever threats they faced next.
As they continued their journey, the landscape around them began to change. The plains gave way to thick forests, their dense canopy casting long shadows over the path. The air grew cooler, and a sense of foreboding settled over the group.
Seikan glanced over his shoulder, his expression grim. "We’re nearing the borders of Eldraxis. Be on your guard. This land is... unpredictable."
Kalsei’s playful demeanor faded as he sat up straighter, his hand instinctively resting on the hilt of his Shattering Blade. Steph, too, became more alert, her eyes scanning the trees for any sign of danger.
The sun dipped lower in the sky as they approached the outskirts of Eldraxis. The forest grew denser, the trees twisted and gnarled, their bark blackened as if scorched by some ancient fire. Strange, ethereal lights flickered between the branches, casting eerie shadows that danced across the forest floor.
"This place gives me the creeps," Steph muttered, her grip tightening on her staff.
Kalsei nodded. "Yeah, I don’t like it either."
Suddenly, the cart jolted to a stop. The horses whinnied nervously, their eyes wide with fear.
Seikan stood, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the area. "Something’s not right."
Before anyone could react, a low growl echoed from the shadows of the forest. Dark shapes began to emerge from between the trees, their forms twisted and unnatural. Their eyes glowed with a malevolent light, and their movements were jerky, as if they were being controlled by some unseen force.
System Alert: Unknown Creatures Detected!
Identifying..........
Creature Information: Voidbound Constructs
Class: Corrupted Construct Level: 7 Health: 450 Mana: 0 Strength: 25 Agility: 15 Intelligence: 3
Abilities: Void Corruption (Passive - Corrupts the environment around it, weakening nearby creatures) Weakness: Light-based attacks, Magical Disruption
"Damn it," Kalsei muttered, drawing his sword as he jumped off the cart. "Looks like we’ve got company."
Steph raised her staff, dark energy swirling around her. "Guess the welcoming party showed up early," she muttered, climbing off the back of the cart, keeping her eyes fixed on the creatures.
Seikan remained calm, his hands already tracing the familiar runes in the air. "Stay focused. These creatures are likely magical constructs, controlled by someone—or something—powerful." He followed the other two off the cart. "Get out of here," he demanded, giving a brief glance at the driver.
Without being told twice, the man, whipped the reins. The horses kicked up dust before the cart moved down the road away from the trio.
"That was nice of you, Seikan," Steph said, rather impressed that Seikan had considered another person's life.
"Horses are unpredictable," Seikan replied coldly. "They could have caused more problems for us."
The creatures in front of the trio lunged, their claws outstretched, but Kalsei was ready. His eyes flashed gold as he activated Reality Blink, warping the space around him. Time seemed to slow as he dodged their attacks with ease, his movements a blur as he struck back with precision. His enhanced perception allowed him to anticipate their every move, and he quickly dispatched several of the creatures with a flurry of strikes.
Steph, standing a little behind, unleashed a wave of shadow magic, her Void-Touched Staff amplifying the spell’s power. The dark energy ripped through the creatures, tearing them apart in a cloud of black mist. Despite her usual boredom, there was a fierce determination in her eyes.
System Alert: You have accumulated enough experience to level up Shadow Fang. Would you like to proceed?
Steph’s eyes flickered as the system message appeared in her mind. She hesitated only a moment before responding. (Yes, level up Shadow Fang.)
Another surge of energy flowed through her as the dark magic around her intensified. Her connection to the shadows deepened, and the power coursing through her veins felt stronger, more controlled.
Shadow Fang (Level 2): Shadow Fang now strikes with greater potency, dealing increased damage over time and siphoning a portion of the enemy’s energy to restore health.
Steph smirked as the dark magic in her staff flared to life. "Let’s see how these things handle the new me."
She raised her staff, unleashing the upgraded Shadow Fang, a wave of dark energy surging from the tip of her staff. The spell struck the remaining Voidbound Constructs, the shadows tearing through their corrupted forms and siphoning their energy into Steph, who felt a rush of vitality return to her.
Seikan, meanwhile, cast Adaptive Shackles, dark chains erupting from the ground to bind the remaining creatures. The constructs writhed in place, their movements restricted as the dark magic drained their energy.
"Finish them," Seikan ordered, his voice cold.
Kalsei nodded, activating Rift Strike and sending a shockwave of distorted energy through the remaining enemies. The constructs shattered into fragments of shadow, disintegrating into nothingness.

As the dust settled, Kalsei sheathed his sword, his body still humming with the energy of his leveled-up skill. "Well, that was fun," he quipped, though there was a seriousness in his tone that hadn’t been there before.
Steph sighed, lowering her staff. "I hate this place already."
Seikan remained silent, his gaze fixed on the forest ahead. "We’re being watched."
Kalsei tensed, his golden eyes scanning the trees. "By who?"
Seikan’s expression darkened. "I don’t know yet. But whoever they are, they’re powerful. We need to move quickly."
With the ominous weight of unseen eyes upon them, the trio pressed forward, deeper into the dark heart of Eldraxis. The forest grew darker with each passing step, and the sense of danger that lingered in the air With the ominous weight of unseen eyes upon them, the trio pressed forward, deeper into the dark heart of Eldraxis. The forest grew darker with each passing step, and the sense of danger that lingered in the air became more unwelcoming. The eerie lights that flickered between the twisted trees seemed to pulse in rhythm with their footsteps, casting long, distorted shadows that danced along the ground.
Kalsei's usual playfulness had dimmed, his hand resting on the hilt of his Shattering Blade as his golden eyes scanned their surroundings. Steph walked close beside him, her staff at the ready, the dark energy from her recent skill upgrade still thrumming within her. Seikan led the way, his sharp gaze fixed on the path ahead, ever alert for signs of further danger.
The heavy unsettling atmosphere weighed on them, but it wasn't long before they came across a narrow path that led into a small clearing. In the center of the clearing, an ancient, weathered stone arch stood, covered in intricate runes that glowed faintly with an otherworldly light. The air around the arch felt charged with magic, crackling faintly as if it were alive.
Seikan's eyes narrowed as he approached the arch, his fingers tracing the glowing runes with careful precision. "This is it. We're close."
Kalsei glanced at the arch, then back at Seikan. "Close to what, exactly? This thing looks like a portal, but to where?"
Seikan didn't answer right away. He was too busy studying the runes, his eyes flicking rapidly as he pieced together the magical script. After a moment, he straightened, his expression serious. "This arch is a gateway to one of the inner sanctums of Eldraxis. Only those with the knowledge to decipher these runes can pass through. Fortunately for us..." He gestured to the runes, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "I know what they mean."
Steph rolled her eyes, but there was a hint of amusement in her voice. "Of course you do."
Seikan stepped forward, placing his hand on the center of the arch. The runes flared to life, the glow intensifying as a pulse of energy rippled outward. The air shimmered, and a portal began to form within the arch, swirling with deep blues and purples, like the night sky filled with distant stars.
System Alert: New Quest Unlocked!
Quest: Enter the Sanctum of Eldraxis
Objective: Enter the portal and reach the inner sanctum of Eldraxis. Be prepared for magical trials and powerful enemies.
Reward: 5000 experience points, Unknown Relic
Kalsei grinned as the system message flashed before him. "Well, that sounds promising."
Seikan nodded, his expression more cautious. "We need to be careful. This portal will likely lead us to the heart of Eldraxis, but it won't be unguarded. The sanctum is known for its magical defenses. This is one of many. The city of Eldraxis was lost many years ago."
Steph sighed, gripping her staff tighter. "Great. More magical nonsense. Or Atlantis."
Kalsei's eyes gleamed with mischief. "Atlantis.. I am SO in!"
Without further hesitation, Seikan stepped through the portal, his form disappearing into the swirling energy. Kalsei and Steph exchanged a quick glance before following him through, the portal pulling them in with a rush of wind and light.
On the other side of the portal, the trio found themselves in a grand chamber, the walls lined with massive bookshelves filled with ancient tomes. Strange, ethereal lights floated in the air, casting a soft glow over the room. The floor was made of polished stone, etched with intricate runes that pulsed faintly with power. At the far end of the chamber stood a massive, ornate door, its surface covered in more of the strange glowing symbols they had seen before.
The moment they stepped into the chamber, a deep, echoing voice filled the air.
"Intruders... You seek the knowledge of Eldraxis, but first, you must prove your worth."
Kalsei tensed, his hand moving to his sword as he scanned the room for the source of the voice. "Well, that’s ominous."
The air in the room began to swirl as a figure materialized before them. It was a towering construct made of pure energy, its form shifting and flickering like the flames of a magical fire. Its eyes glowed with a piercing light, and in its hands, it held a massive staff that crackled with arcane power.
System Alert: Guardian of Eldraxis Detected!
Creature Information: Arcane Guardian
Class: Magical Construct
Level: 10 Health: 1500 Mana: 1200 Strength: 30 Agility: 10 Intelligence: 50
Abilities: Arcane Blast, Magic Barrier, Mana Drain Weakness: Disruption Magic, Physical Strikes
Seikan's eyes flickered with interest as he studied the creature. "An Arcane Guardian. It won't go down easily. We need to disrupt its magic while keeping it distracted."
Kalsei unsheathed his blade, the familiar surge of energy flowing through him as he prepared for battle. "No problem. Just tell me where to hit it."
Steph raised her staff, her eyes narrowed in concentration. "Let's just get this over with."
The Arcane Guardian moved first, raising its staff and unleashing a blast of pure arcane energy. The air around it crackled as the blast shot toward them, but Kalsei was ready. His golden eyes flashed as he activated Reality Blink, warping time and space around him. He moved with blinding speed, dodging the blast and closing the distance between himself and the Guardian.
He struck with Rift Strike, his blade distorting the space around it and sending a shockwave of energy through the Guardian’s form. The creature staggered but quickly recovered, raising a shimmering magical barrier around itself.
"Steph!" Kalsei shouted. "We need that barrier down!"
Steph nodded, her hands already glowing with dark energy as she cast Shadow Fang. The dark tendrils of magic lashed out, striking the barrier with force, but the Guardian’s defenses held strong.
Seikan, watching carefully, began tracing runes in the air, his fingers moving swiftly as he prepared to cast Rune of Decay. "I’ll weaken its defenses. Steph, keep up the pressure!"
The Rune of Decay formed beneath the Guardian, dark energy swirling around it as the runic magic sapped its strength. The barrier flickered, and for a brief moment, it weakened.
Kalsei saw his opportunity. He activated Void Step, phasing through the barrier and reappearing directly in front of the Guardian. With a swift, precise strike, he drove his blade into the creature’s core, sending a pulse of energy rippling through its form.
The Guardian howled, its arcane form flickering and weakening as its magic began to unravel. It raised its staff for one final attack, but Steph was faster. She unleashed the full force of her Shadow Fang spell, the dark energy tearing through the Guardian’s form and disrupting its magic completely.
With a final, agonized roar, the Arcane Guardian disintegrated into a burst of light, its magic dissipating into the air.
System Alert: Arcane Guardian Defeated! Experience Gained: 3000
Kalsei let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding, wiping sweat from his brow. "That... was a bit more than I expected."
Steph lowered her staff, a small smirk on her lips. "Maybe you should stop expecting things to be easy."
Seikan stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the massive door at the end of the chamber. "We’ve passed the first trial. But there will be more."
Kalsei sheathed his sword, glancing at the door. "What’s behind that thing, anyway?"
Seikan’s expression darkened. "Knowledge. Power. And maybe answers to the questions we've been asking."
Steph sighed. "I just hope it's worth the trouble."
The door creaked open, revealing a long hallway shrouded in darkness. Pale blue light flickered along the stone walls, casting eerie shadows that seemed to dance with each step the trio took. The air inside the corridor was thick with magic, every breath they took filled with the strange, oppressive energy of the sanctum. The deeper they ventured, the more they could feel it: power, raw and untamed, humming in the air like a living thing.
Kalsei walked a few steps ahead, his usual grin replaced by a focused expression. "Alright, what's the next trick? More constructs? Or maybe some magical traps waiting to roast us alive?"
Steph stayed close behind him, her fingers wrapped tightly around her Void-Touched Staff. "Let's hope for neither."
Seikan, ever methodical, scanned the walls, taking in the intricate runes carved into the stone. "This place is ancient," he murmured, almost to himself. "The magic here predates most modern spells. If we're not careful, we could trigger something we don’t understand."
Kalsei shot him a sidelong glance. "Sounds fun."
Seikan ignored him, his focus entirely on the runes. "These symbols are trials. The Guardian was just the beginning. This hall leads to another challenge, and judging by the complexity of the runes, it won’t be as simple as the first."
As they moved deeper into the hall, a soft humming sound filled the air. It started faintly, almost unnoticeable, but grew louder with each step. The temperature dropped noticeably, their breath visible in the chilly air.
Suddenly, a voice echoed around them, filling the hall with a deep, resonant tone.
"~Only those worthy may proceed. Prove your understanding of magic, or face eternal stasis~."
Kalsei stopped, his hand on the hilt of his blade. "I'm guessing that's not a friendly offer."
Seikan stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as he studied the runes that now glowed brightly on the floor. "It's a magical puzzle. We have to solve it before we can move forward."
Steph let out a long breath. "Great. And here I thought fighting giant constructs was hard enough."
System Alert: Trial of Magic Initiated!
Objective: Solve the runic puzzle to proceed. Failure will result in stasis.
Hint: Combine the elements to unlock the path.
The floor beneath them shifted, glowing with different symbols representing various elemental forces: fire, water, earth, air, and shadow. Each symbol pulsed with its own light, and the energy in the air crackled with tension.
Kalsei stepped closer to the glowing runes, looking down at the symbols with a puzzled expression. "So, what do we do? Just start pressing stuff?"
Seikan shook his head. "No. The elements must be combined in the correct sequence. If we make a mistake, the magic will likely trigger the stasis spell."
Steph raised an eyebrow. "And you know how to do this?"
Seikan glanced at her, a rare flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. "I have an idea. The runes here follow a pattern, but it's ancient. I’ll need time to study them."
Kalsei, ever the optimist, gave a shrug. "No pressure, right? Just our lives on the line."
Seikan ignored the remark, his focus fully on the runes now. His fingers traced the air above them as he muttered to himself, his mind working through the possibilities. He stopped over the fire rune and the water rune, his eyes narrowing. "Fire and water... opposite forces, but together they form steam—air."
He looked up, glancing at the glowing air rune nearby. "We need to combine them."
Steph stepped forward, her dark eyes flickering with understanding. "Shadow is the key," she said softly, surprising both Kalsei and Seikan. "In ancient magic, shadow isn’t just an element. It’s the binding force. It connects the others."
Seikan nodded slowly. "You're right. Shadow is the balance. If we channel the elements in the right order, using shadow as the binding force, we should be able to unlock the path."
Kalsei rubbed the back of his neck. "Sounds like a plan, but how do we actually do that?"
Seikan motioned for him to stand by the fire rune. "You need to trigger the fire rune first. Steph, you’ll handle water. I’ll channel the shadow element once the others are activated. It should unlock the path, but we need to be in sync."
The group took their positions, and with a nod from Seikan, Kalsei stepped on the fire rune. It flared to life beneath him, the symbol glowing with a fiery light. Almost instantly, Steph activated the water rune, the cool blue glow balancing out the heat from Kalsei's rune. The air around them shifted, steam rising as the two forces collided.
Seikan wasted no time, stepping onto the shadow rune, his fingers tracing intricate runes in the air as he channeled his magic. The shadow element pulsed with a dark, ethereal energy, spreading through the room like tendrils of mist. Slowly, the air rune began to glow brighter, and the runes on the door ahead flickered with life.
The floor trembled beneath them, the magic of the runes reacting to the ancient power being unleashed. The doorway ahead began to glow with a soft, golden light, and the once-closed door started to shift open.
System Alert: Trial of Magic Completed!

New Path Unlocked!
Kalsei stepped off the fire rune, letting out a long breath. "That wasn’t so bad."
Steph shot him a look. "Speak for yourself."
Seikan stepped toward the now-open door, his eyes narrowing as he studied the path ahead. "We’re not done yet. This was just the first trial of many."
As the group moved forward, they were greeted by another chamber, smaller this time, but filled with an oppressive weight. In the center of the room stood an ornate pedestal, atop which lay a large, gleaming crystal, pulsing with dark energy.
System Alert: Arcane Crystal Detected!
Class: Relic Level: Unknown
Effect: Increases the magical potency of whoever wields it, but comes with a risk of corruption.
Kalsei stepped closer, eyeing the crystal warily. "So, do we touch it, or…?"
Seikan approached, his gaze fixed on the relic. "This is no ordinary artifact. Its power could enhance our magic, but it’s dangerous. We’ll need to decide whether we risk using it or not."
Steph folded her arms, her expression unreadable. "Let me guess, it could corrupt us if we’re not careful."
Seikan nodded grimly. "Exactly."
Before they could debate further, the air in the room shifted, and another voice, different from the first, echoed around them.
"~Only those who prove their resolve may wield the power of Eldraxis~."
The room suddenly filled with swirling energy, and three glowing figures materialized around them. Each figure resembled an ethereal mage, their eyes glowing with the same dark energy that radiated from the crystal. They raised their hands, and the very air around the trio began to crackle with arcane power.
System Alert: Guardians of the Crystal Detected!
Class: Arcane Constructs Level: 12
Health: 1200 Mana: 900
Abilities: Arcane Barrage, Mana Shield, Chain Lightning Weakness: Physical Attacks
Kalsei's hand went straight to the hilt of his Shattering Blade. "Looks like we don’t have much of a choice."
Steph stepped forward, her staff already glowing with dark energy. "Let’s end this quickly."
Seikan, his eyes narrowing, began tracing runes in the air once again. "Focus on breaking their mana shields. We’ll need to hit them hard and fast."
The Guardians moved in unison, their hands glowing with arcane energy as they prepared to cast their first attack. Bolts of lightning crackled around the room, the energy surging toward the trio with deadly speed.
Kalsei, quick on his feet, activated Reality Blink, warping time and space as he dodged the incoming bolts. His body blurred as he closed the distance to the nearest Guardian, his sword slicing through the air with deadly precision. The Guardian’s mana shield flickered but held firm.
Steph, standing at a distance, raised her staff and unleashed Shadow Fang, the dark energy lashing out at the Guardians. Her newly enhanced spell tore through one of the shields, weakening it significantly as the Guardian stumbled back.
Seikan cast Adaptive Shackles, dark chains erupting from the ground to bind one of the Guardians in place. The construct struggled, its movements restricted as Seikan’s magic drained its energy.
System Alert: You have accumulated enough experience to level up your character. Proceed?
Kalsei felt the familiar rush of energy as the system message flashed before him. He had fought enough battles to recognize the signs—his body thrummed with power, his senses sharper than ever.
(Yes, level up.)
The energy surged through him, and Kalsei felt the strength and agility of his body increase. His connection to his reality-bending powers deepened, and he could feel the edges of time and space growing more pliable in his hands.
System Alert: Kalsei has reached Level 6!

Description: Tear a rift in time, freezing everything within a targeted area for 5 seconds. Enemies caught in the rift cannot move or act, but can still take damage. Cooldown: 60 seconds.
The energy coursed through Kalsei, stronger than ever before. He felt the world around him slow, and for a brief moment, everything seemed to shimmer with possibility. His new skill, Temporal Fracture, was unlike anything he had ever wielded. Time itself bent to his will now, not just space. The possibilities were endless.
"Now this is going to be fun," Kalsei said with a grin as his golden eyes flickered with power. He tightened his grip on the Shattering Blade and turned his attention back to the Guardians. "Let’s finish this!"
Without warning, Kalsei activated Temporal Fracture. The air around him crackled as the fabric of time tore open. A shimmering rift appeared in front of him, expanding outward and enveloping two of the Guardians. For five seconds, everything inside the rift froze in place. The Guardians, mid-attack, were locked in time, unable to move as their ethereal forms flickered helplessly.
"Now!" Kalsei shouted, dashing forward.
Steph wasted no time, her Void-Touched Staff glowing as she unleashed a barrage of dark magic. Her Shadow Fang lashed out at the frozen Guardians, tearing into them with brutal precision. Though they couldn’t move, the damage piled on, their glowing forms flickering more violently.
Seikan, seeing the opening, channeled his energy into a complex rune he had been preparing. His fingers danced through the air, tracing intricate patterns with a speed that defied normal casting times.

Seikan’s eyes glowed with dark intent as he completed the Rune of Oblivion, his most powerful rune yet. The rune appeared on the ground beneath the remaining Guardian, a swirling vortex of dark energy. The Guardian barely had time to react before the rune activated, collapsing the space around it and pulling the construct into the void.
The Guardian let out a piercing wail as its form disintegrated, erased from existence by the raw power of Seikan’s magic.
System Alert: Arcane Guardians Defeated! Experience Gained: 4000
The room fell silent as the last of the Guardians vanished. Kalsei let out a breath, his body still humming with energy from the battle. "That was insane," he said, his usual playful tone returning. "We’re getting stronger."
Steph lowered her staff, a thoughtful expression crossing her face as a new system message appeared before her.
System Alert: Specialist Class Available!
You have the option to evolve from a Healer to a Dark Healer.
Dark Healers specialize in draining the life force of enemies to heal allies and themselves.
Choose wisely.
Steph hesitated for a moment, her dark eyes narrowing as she considered the choice. The power she wielded had always felt more destructive than healing, and the idea of evolving into something darker wasn’t entirely unappealing. Her Void-Touched Staff pulsed in her hands, as if urging her to make the decision.
Kalsei noticed her hesitation. "Everything okay, Steph?" he asked, a teasing grin on his face. "You look like you’re about to do something wild."
She glanced at him, her expression unreadable. "I have a choice to make," she said quietly. "I can evolve into a Dark Healer. It would change the way I heal... I’d have to drain life from enemies to heal us. It’s... darker, more dangerous."
Kalsei shrugged, his golden eyes twinkling. "You’ve always been dangerous. Might as well make it official."
Steph looked at Seikan, who gave a slight nod. "It’s your choice. But if you do it, you’ll need to fully embrace that path. There’s no going back."
With a deep breath, Steph made her decision. (Yes, evolve into Dark Healer.)
The moment she confirmed her choice, a surge of dark energy flowed through her, stronger than anything she had felt before. Her staff glowed with a deep, ominous light, and the shadows around her seemed to gather closer, almost as if they were alive.
Class Evolution Complete: Dark Healer
New Skill Unlocked: Lifebane (Level 1)
Description: Drain the life force of enemies within a certain radius, transferring their energy to heal allies and restore your own health. Cooldown: 30 seconds.
Steph exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of her new power settle within her. "I guess that’s that," she murmured, her voice calm but laced with new determination.
Kalsei grinned. "Welcome to the dark side."
Seikan, ever focused, turned his attention back to the relic at the center of the room. The Arcane Crystal pulsed softly, as if beckoning them to claim it.
"This crystal contains immense power," Seikan said, his voice low. "But it’s dangerous. We’ll need to use it wisely."
Kalsei approached the crystal, his hand hovering over it. "What do you think? Can we trust it?"
Seikan’s eyes flickered with a mix of caution and ambition. "We have to. If we’re going to survive whatever Eldraxis throws at us next, we need every advantage we can get."
Steph stepped forward, her gaze fixed on the crystal. "Let’s take it. We’re ready."
With a shared glance, Kalsei, Seikan, and Steph reached out, their hands touching the crystal simultaneously. The moment their fingers made contact, a surge of energy flowed through them, filling their bodies with raw magical power. The room around them seemed to fade, replaced by a swirling vortex of arcane energy that connected them to the very heart of Eldraxis.
System Alert: Arcane Crystal Claimed!
You have absorbed the power of the Arcane Crystal. All stats increased by +5 for the next battle.
Warning: Overuse of the Arcane Crystal’s power may result in corruption. Use with caution.
The trio stepped back, their bodies thrumming with newfound strength. Kalsei felt the power coursing through him, sharpening his senses and heightening his connection to reality. Steph’s dark magic pulsed stronger than ever, and Seikan’s runes seemed to glow with even greater intensity.
"We’ve got what we came for," Kalsei said, his golden eyes gleaming. "Now let’s find out what’s next."
As they approached the next chamber, the door in front of them opened, revealing a massive, glowing portal unlike any they had seen before. The air hummed with energy, and the final trial beckoned.
Kalsei, Seikan, and Steph exchanged a glance.
"Shall we?" Kalsei asked with a grin.
