Operation Honey Trap vs The Emperor of the Apocalypse

Chapter 46: In the Blood

The dragon dragged Delphi into the thick of the group of beasts that was attacking the girls, and the creatures closed ranks behind it, preventing the girls from following.

"Delphi!" Feifei shouted.

"Don't worry, I've still got my sword," she called, determined to fight to the bitter end.

The girls redoubled their efforts, firing a hail of arrows at the eyes of the dragons, but failing to score any direct hits.

Loveday and Indy tried to open a path to Delphi, attacking the point creature together. Loveday managed to get a slice in under its chin, but it wasn't deep enough to force it to withdraw.

"I'm going in after her," called Feifei.

"No Feifei!" shouted Loveday, but it was too late, she had already run behind the dragons' frontline, dodging, twisting and weaving like a rugby halfback.

The girls watched as a dragon flicked her with its tail and she leapt clear over it. Feifei disappeared behind the Giant Koala, in hot pursuit of Delphi.

She arrived in time to see Delphi trying to anchor herself with her sword, which she had thrust into a tree trunk and was now holding onto tightly as the dragon yanked on her boot.

Her boot flew right off, and the dragon looked perplexed when he saw that he held a piece of leather instead of the human.

He tossed the boot aside and ran back towards Delphi who was pulling her sword free from the trunk, looking dusty and dishevelled.

She now wore only one shoe, her skirt was shredded and torn and the gravel rash on her ass was bright red and bleeding. The thong panties had not been a good decision.

She was joined by Feifei and both women stood together, their swords at the ready.

"You shouldn't have come after me," said Delphi.

"I had to. You'd do the same for me."

"Thanks Feif," Delphi gave her hand a quick squeeze.

Three other dragons arrived from the other side of the koala to join the creature that had successfully grabbed one of the humans. They surrounded the two girls, hissing and closing in on them.

Without words being needed between them, Feifei faced two of the dragons and Delphi faced the other two, waving their swords at both of the beasts they faced, warding them off as best they could.

The beast that had dragged Delphi now spat at her and although she jumped, she was without her shield, and some of the poison splashed onto her bare foot.

She quickly rubbed it off with the remains of her skirt, expecting instant pain.

For now, there was nothing, but she didn't know how long she would still be able to fight for. She didn't say anything to Feifei, hoping she could protect her for long enough to get the girl out of here.

She had nothing to lose now, so she went on the attack.

Flying forward, she dived under one of the two lizards that was now within striking distance, her sword held upwards, she managed to stab through its soft chin into its mouth, and roll back out this time before it fell on her.

Feifei screamed as she was swept off her feet by a tail strike, spinning her in the air to land on her back. She couldn't breathe for a few seconds after she hit the ground.

Delphi sprinted over to her and stood astride the prone girl, keeping the creatures at bay with her sword, but she was struggling with three of them to watch from different angles.

Feifei fought to get back to her feet, sucking in air in little high-pitched wheezes.

As Delphi warded off an attack on the girl, she was gripped around her bare ankle by the same dragon that had dragged her boot off.

It pulled her off her feet and along on her ass again.

"Jesus Christ you bastard," she whacked it on the nose with her sword. "Can you please leave me some skin on my tush? You just can't get enough of me, can you?" she panted with pain as the creature's teeth pierced her skin.

The dragon immediately released her and dropped to it stomach, laying it's head on the dirt and looking at her.

She scrambled backwards, watching it warily. "Can you… understand me?"

The other dragons surrounding them now also dropped to their stomachs and stopped attacking the girls.

Delphi slowly climbed to her feet, helping Feifei up. They backed away from the three dragons that lay watching them and rounded the koala to check on the others.

The same thing had happened with these dragons. They all lay still, eerily watching Delphi.

"Umm," she said. "I'm not really sure what happened there. One was dragging me by the ankle. It bit me. I asked to it leave me some skin on my ass and it dropped me and let me go, and then it lay down like that. Then the rest of them lay down. I'm guessing I've cracked one of their ancient command codes. Was anyone else doing anything special at the time the first one lay down?"

"No," replied Loveday. "Indy and I were fighting one together, but we didn't do anything differently."

"We were firing off arrows," said Lili, "but unless we hit a secret spot, we didn't do anything special".

"Did all of the dragons attacking you lie down at the same time?" asked Delphi.

"Yes," Ruby replied.

"I think the one that was dragging me was the first to lie down, and it must have communicated with the others. I'm guessing this might relate to one of my ancestors being General Chastain," she admitted reluctantly.

The others looked at her in surprise. General Chastain was a famous wartime hero, or criminal, depending on which side you were on. He had famously been a key part of the tubiàn development team, and he lead the creatures in some of their most well-known battles.

"I've seen pictures of General Chastain riding a dragon," said Feifei. "He might have left a biomarker in them that responded to your blood when it bit you," she speculated.

Delphi had been pondering the same thing, thinking it was too coincidental that it let go as soon as it drew blood from her.

"You should give it a try Delph," said Ruby. "Why don't you see if you can ride one of them? They're definitely all watching you."
