Chapter 21: Selling the items

Arthur moved steadily through the forest, his dagger flashing in quick arcs as he dispatched another corroded rabbit that leapt at him from the underbrush.

"Nice," he muttered, glancing at his stats. "Looks like the boss fight gave me so much experience that I was only a few kills away from levelling up again."

He rolled his shoulders, feeling stronger energy coursing through his body. "Only one more level to go until level 5," he said to himself. "Once I unlock my class skills, my combat power is going to skyrocket."

Arthur stepped through the gates of the spawning village, the hustle and bustle of other players talking to NPC's and each other.

Behind him, Neko walked along, her tail swishing lazily as she glanced around with her usual indifferent expression. However, her presence didn't go unnoticed this time as people were now calmer than when they first started the game, they weren't as paranoid and started to enjoy the place.

"Oh my god, look at that cute cat!" one female player exclaimed, pointing toward Neko with wide eyes.

"What's this adorable fluffball doing here?" another added, crouching down slightly as if to get a better look.

"Look at those cheeks!" the first girl player said again, practically squealing. "They're so fluffy, I just want to squeeze them!"

A male player nearby, raising a sceptical eyebrow, said, "Pause there. Are you into bestiality? Because that sounded nuts."

The female player straightened up immediately, her expression twisting into a frown as she rounded on him. "Get your head out of the gutter, moron. I'm talking about its face cheeks, not the ones you can't get."

The nearby group of male players burst into laughter, one of them clutching his stomach as he doubled over. "She just called you a virgin, man. LMAO!" he wheezed, slapping his knee.

Arthur, who had been half-listening, couldn't help but chuckle at the exchange, though he quickly shook his head and moved past them suppressing a grin.

Neko, for her part, acted as though the commotion had nothing to do with her, walking on without so much as a glance in their direction.

Arthur found an empty spot near the village's main plaza.

He quickly pulled out all the uncommon items he had and began laying them out one by one.

Armour pieces, swords, and various uncommon items were on display.

"Alright," he called out, raising his voice to attract attention.

"Come one, come all! Uncommon items for sale at 25% off the shop price! I've got armour, swords, backpacks—you name it, I've got it!"

A small crowd began to gather almost immediately, their curiosity piqued by the discounted items.

"No more common items, no more bad loot drops. You can buy uncommon items at a price lower than the shops by 25%, you can finally kill the monsters that have been haunting you. Don't miss the offer!" He shouted, as his voice started gathering players.

Arthur's eyes scanned the faces, gauging their interest as he leaned back with an air of confidence.

'Time to make some more money,' he thought, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips as he prepared to sell items.

Arthur stood above his stall, his arms crossed, as a male player stepped forward.

The man's username, herChair, floated above his head in bright text.

"Can I have the [Backpack (Uncommon)]?" herChair asked, his tone polite but eager.

"Sure," Arthur replied with a warm smile. "That'll be ten silver coins."

herChair's face twisted in confusion. "Wait, what? But the price tag says it's only five silver coins! Why are you selling it to me for ten?"

Arthur shrugged nonchalantly, his expression that of indifference.

"Because I changed my mind. Either buy it or don't." His attention wandered, clearly done with the conversation.

herChair let out a frustrated sigh, glancing at the crowd forming around the stall.

"Fine," he said, his shoulders slumping. "I'll pay ten. My girlfriend needs one of these anyway."

Arthur smirked inwardly as herChair sent over a trade invite.

[Player herChair has sent you 10 silver coins.]

Arthur accepted the trade, sliding the backpack toward the player. "Pleasure doing business with you," he said with a nod. "Next!"

Another player stepped up, this one with the username kitsune. "Hey, can I get the other [Backpack (Uncommon)]?" he asked.

"Of course, brother!" Arthur said, his tone friendly and casual. "That'll be five silver coins."

herChair, who hadn't walked away yet, froze mid-step. His jaw dropped as he turned back to Arthur, his face a mixture of shock and outrage. "What?! You just told me it was ten silver coins!"

Arthur glanced at him, an amused smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Yeah, well, I sell it to whoever I want, for whatever price I want. Did I force you to buy it?" He raised an eyebrow. "I don't think that's possible."

The crowd around them erupted into muffled laughter, several players stifling grins as they watched the exchange.

herChair's face flushed red as he gritted his teeth. "But that's—"

Arthur cut him off, his grin widening. "So why don't you go and let Gorlock the Destroyer sit on you since you're apparently her chair?"

The crowd exploded into laughter, even Kitsune chuckled as he handed over his silver coins for the backpack.

herChair stomped off in a huff, muttering under his breath as the crowd's laughter followed him.

The reason Arthur did this was because it was these types of players that always aggravated him in games when he used to play games before, so he decided to return the favour.
