Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Unassessable Power
[T/N: Check out my friend's fanfic— "Hentai Conquest: Starting From Kuroinu"]
Wu Gang thrust his sword down, finishing off the Mighty Black Ape.
"60 experience points, not bad. I just don't know when I'll level up." Wu Gang shook his head and picked up the corpse card on the ground, putting it into his pocket.
"How's he doing?" he turned to ask.
The team doctor replied, "The bleeding has stopped, but the Mighty Black Ape's strength was too great, two ribs are broken. I'm treating him now."
Wu Gang frowned at his teammate, "How long for recovery?"
"With Bone Regrowth Powder, around two hours."
"Two hours… Okay, let's see if we can kill some lower-level ones. Only taking down six this trip is way too inefficient. Let's leave here; that fight might have attracted other Black Apes!"
No one objected. After a quick rest, they moved toward the dense forest in the southwest.
Before long, Wu Gang suddenly stopped and raised his arm, the group immediately halted.
"There's fighting." Wu Gang looked at his teammates. "Let's go check it out."
After sneaking for two or three minutes, they found the scene of the battle.
Hiding behind grass and trees, they all stared, stunned.
In the forest ahead, there were three Wood-type Giant Force Apes surrounding a young man.
"Wow, which team is that? Not only is he alone, but he also lured three Black Apes—so careless," Shan Shan said, her eyes wide.
"Captain, do we intervene?"
Wu Gang frowned, glancing back at their injured teammate.
With their team's strength, they would likely die too if they went out there.
"No, we can't take them either… That guy's just unlucky." Wu Gang shook his head. "Strange, doesn't he have a guild? There's no mark on his clothes."
Du Lei frowned. "He doesn't even have equipment and is wearing attribute-less clothes. Also, no weapon? Seriously, what's he thinking, coming here to die?"
Wu Gang said nothing. The guy was clearly doomed. The key was, among those three Black Apes, two were probably level 12 or 13.
Those two could become their team's next hunting targets.
"Shan Shan, keep an eye on the two smaller ones. If they split up, we might have a chance to kill them."
"Got it!"
At that moment, the young man in the field suddenly moved.
He bolted madly toward the only open direction.
Du Lei snorted. "What is he thinking? Does he really think he can escape? Kid, that's way too naive."
The three Black Apes, seeing him flee, immediately gave chase. With a single leap, they covered several meters at an incredible speed.
At this rate, in about three or four bounds, the Black Apes would catch up to him.
The largest of the three, likely around level 15, was leading the charge.
However, just as it was about to land, the young man suddenly stopped, turned around, and threw several black shadows from his hands.
Because the Black Ape was chasing him, it was naturally facing him, and in mid-air during its descent, it was unable to move or react.
The black shadows struck the Black Ape's chest one after another.
The first three black shadows hit its chest, leaving it unscathed.
"Hah, is he serious? That guy's using throwing knives." Du Lei nearly burst out laughing.
Throwing knives do have piercing power, but the problem is their attack is too low. Piercing without force behind it doesn't cause damage.
And so far, that seemed true—the Black Ape didn't even flinch.
Wu Gang chuckled too. "The Black Ape probably thinks he's tickling it."
However, when the fourth throwing knife struck, something bizarre happened.
The previously uninjured, fully healthy Mighty Black Ape suddenly seemed to be hit by a massive force.
As its huge body landed, it was suddenly hurled backward, crashing through several trees behind it.
Then, the Black Ape collapsed on the ground, motionless.
Seeing this, the injured team member on the stretcher sat up abruptly, his eyes wide in shock.
"It—it—it's dead? Wh-why?"
Wu Gang, Du Lei, Shan Shan, and the others all gaped, their eyes nearly popping out.
Clearly, they wanted to ask the same question.
After succeeding, the young man targeted another Black Ape, throwing more black shadows from his hands.
The second Black Ape instinctively made a defensive move.
The largest one had already died—it didn't know what killed it, but it knew it was also in danger.
Even as it raised its thick arms to shield itself, the fourth black shadow struck. Its massive body was blown away.
At the same time, a black shadow shot out from behind it.
The young man's throwing knife pierced through the entire Black Ape.
"Oh my god, wh-what kind of power is this." Wu Gang muttered, disbelief in his voice.
Using throwing knives to deliver such devastating force—it was unimaginable.
The young man rushed over, picked up his throwing knives, and targeted the third Black Ape.
Once again, the fourth knife struck and killed it, piercing its body despite its defensive posture.
Du Lei trembled all over, looking at Shan Shan in terror. "H-he's too strong. Shan Shan, did you evaluate his stats?"
"I did. His agility is around 30, and his strength… the wristwatch reads about 20."
The wristwatch could only assess Jiang Kai's strength based on his throwing motion. But everyone present knew the evaluation was absolutely inaccurate.
It was completely off—by a mile.
"20 strength to kill a level 15 Black Ape in one hit? Who'd believe that?"
"Subtle yet overwhelming power, hidden within the weapon." Wu Gang revealed the truth. "When he throws those knives, it looks weak, but the real power erupts in that instant. He's channeling all his strength into the throwing knives. Otherwise, think about it—could 20 strength fling a level 15 Black Ape four or five meters?"
"Exactly! His movements are so fast that even Shan Shan's wristwatch couldn't detect it."
"Is he part of District 18's War God Hall reserve team? What's his class?"
"No idea, I've never seen him before. As for his class, do we even need to guess? He's definitely a Martial Disciple. Not even soldiers could have such terrifying power."
"What if he notices us…" Wu Gang suddenly thought of a terrifying possibility.
Jiang Kai, having finished the kills, collected his throwing knives and picked up the three Black Ape corpse cards.
"Doesn't seem that hard to kill them," Jiang Kai muttered.
But Jiang Kai knew that his success relied on critical hits.
Even with just a 10% critical damage boost, with a base of 200 times, a critical hit meant he dealt 220 times the damage.
With proportional scaling, his attack effectively used 4,400 strength—no wonder it was a one-shot kill.
"Chasing Shadows is better than I thought." Jiang Kai sat down to rest and drink water.
"Too bad none dropped Nuclear Soil. Regular beast corpses don't sell for much. I need to hunt elites or higher."
Still, he muttered, "No need to rush. It's still dangerous—especially if I encounter a group of beasts, I'll be dead for sure."
"Better play it safe and level up first. Higher stats mean I can fight or run if needed."
"Three kills gave me about 160 experience. Not bad for leveling."
With that, Jiang Kai packed up his water and quickly ran deeper into the forest.
It was only long after Jiang Kai left that the Heavens Guild team finally dared to come out.
"Dear god, who is that guy? Why would such a powerhouse come to this low-level area to hunt?"
"Maybe he's here for rare materials."
"So this is the power of a high-level expert. We've finally seen it. We struggle to kill one, but he instantly wipes out three. That's the difference." Du Lei said excitedly. "We'll have something to brag about when we get back. We've seen a true powerhouse." [T/N: 😂]
