Chapter 35: 35. Ritual
"Just kidding, there's no way I'd pick that option."
"I choose B!"
[You wake the young man and ask him what happened. He introduces himself as Shet and explains that the Shandian tribe living on this island is under a god's curse. The curse has already claimed over a hundred lives and has also poisoned their crops. Before passing away, the tribe's chief priest declared that to appease the god and lift the curse, they must offer the blood of the tribe's youngest and most beautiful maiden as a sacrifice.]
[Shet, being a warrior, wanted to die in battle, so he fled the village but collapsed from exhaustion. After hearing his story, what will you do?]
[A. Tell him it's not a curse, heal him, and leave the island to gather medicine to save the Shandian tribe.]
[B. "Are you serious? This is just a disease that already has a cure! And me? I've been a skeptic all my life. So, tell me, what fruit did your god eat? Can it use Haki? Could it withstand a single strike from me?"]
[C. "The tribe's youngest and most beautiful maiden? I'd better go see for myself!"]
Option A is out!
By the time I actually go get medicine and return, everyone on this island could be dead!
B isn't ideal either.
For people who worship gods, insulting their god is more offensive than destroying their families!
Finally, a chance to choose C!
[You decide to go see the maiden proclaimed as the most beautiful and youngest in the Shandia tribe. When you arrive at the village, it's deserted. The survivors have gathered at the altar, where they've tied a beautiful girl dressed in white to the altar, hoping that her blood will appease their god and lift the curse. Just then, a massive serpent emerges from the water, hungrily eyeing the girl on the altar. This is Kashigami, the serpent worshipped as a god by the Shandians.]
[You and your crew arrive at the altar. Upon witnessing this scene, what do you decide?]
[A. Do not interfere; observe the ritual.]
[B. Save the girl, though this will anger the Shandians, and their strongest warrior, Kalgara, will attack you.]
[C. Kill the serpent, and then have a moment with the girl on the altar.]
Might as well rename this Ultimate Villain Simulator to Dick Simulator at this point!
"BBB!"
[Just as the serpent is about to devour the girl, you leap forward and activate your No Childhood talent, slicing the serpent in two with your blade, Hidden Snow.]
Oh, yes! Hidden Snow's back!
"I was a bit worried that this Kalgara might be too strong, but now, it's all good!"
[The serpent is slain, and the ritual is disrupted. The Shandians are devastated, while the girl, named Mousse, is saved and collapses into your arms, sobbing uncontrollably. You comfort her, and as she breathes in your strong masculine scent, she gradually calms down.]
[But the Shandians, furious over the broken ritual, declare that more blood must be shed to appease their god! They raise their weapons and charge at your crew. Standing before you is Kalgara, a towering warrior with waist-length red hair and a spear in hand, known as the Great Warrior of Shandora. What do you decide?]
[A. Hand over the girl, apologize for the disturbance, and flee.]
[B. Fight.]
B!
[Kalgara, fueled by rage, attacks without giving you a chance to explain. You raise Hidden Snow and engage him in combat. Though Kalgara fights with fierce, beast-like savagery, he lacks formal training and cannot use Haki. Gradually, he begins to falter under your attacks.]
[At this moment, Kalgara hurls a dagger at Moose's feet, condemning her for her cowardice and urging her to atone. Overcome with despair, Mousse picks up the dagger and points it at her throat. Acting swiftly, you knock her unconscious with a slap.]
[This brief distraction allows Kalgara to seize an opening, driving his spear into your chest.]
[Your crew is also captured by the Shandians, and Kalgara, filled with fury, demands their blood as retribution.]
[Fueled by anger, you think back on how ridiculous you always found the concept of gods. What kind of god would require mortals to sacrifice themselves for its favor?]
[The situation ignites a deep-seated fury within you. What do you decide?]
[A. Escape. No one here can stop you, and if your crew dies, you can always recruit new members.]
[B. Beg for mercy, hoping the Shandian leader will spare you and your crew.]
[C. You haven't seen a woman in two years! Why not try to gain the Shandians' trust and win Moose over in the meantime?]
