One Piece: Ultimate Villain

Chapter 33: 33. Icha Icha Paradise

"Uh… the fight's over?"

Facing Smoker's dejection, Marsh decided to change the subject.

"Yes, it's over. After Vice Admiral Garp arrived, the Black Vulture Pirates didn't stand a chance," Smoker replied, nodding, then slammed his fist on his leg. "Damn it! If I were just a little stronger, the captain and the others wouldn't have died!"

"It's not your fault." Marsh said gently, trying to comfort him.

"Not my fault?" Smoker froze, then muttered, "Yes, it's not my fault! If Vice Admiral Garp had arrived a little earlier, they wouldn't have died either! It's Garp's fault! Yes! It's the Navy's fault…"

Wait, what?!

Marsh stared in horror as Smoker's eyes turned red, and he kept muttering, "It's not my fault," while his mouth twisted, almost like he was about to laugh.

'Hold on! Are you about to go dark on me?'

[Faced with an about-to-go-dark Smoker, what is your choice?]

[A. Slap him back to his senses.]

[B. Ignore it.]

[C. Before he completes his dark transformation and masters his Smoke-Smoke Fruit, eliminate him while he's still weak.]

[Note: Because Smoker carries a World Correction Value, your choice will impact the real-world timeline.]

"Wait, what even is this Correction Value?"

[Those with the ability to correct a collapsing world are given a Correction Value.]

"So basically, it's the world's love?"

[You could think of it that way.]

"Got it…"

"My choice is…"

Ignoring his injuries, Marsh slapped Smoker across the face.

"A!"

Smoker's head smacked into the wall.

Fortunately, due to his semi-logia form, he wasn't knocked senseless.

But since Marsh's slap was Haki-infused, Smoker's face swelled up.

"Tell me, why did you join the Navy?"

A deep, resolute question escaped Marsh's mouth, making Smoker, who was still reeling from the slap, freeze.

Then, another slap!

"Tell me, why did you join the Navy?"

Smoker instinctively raised his hand to strike back, but facing Marsh's abyss-like dark eyes, he lowered it.

"Tell me, why did you join the Navy?"

Marsh's slap sent one of Smoker's molars flying.

"If you've forgotten, let me remind you! To join the Navy is to fight for justice!"

At these words, Smoker jolted.

He remembered his squad leader shouting "For justice!" and charging forward to his death.

Tears welled up in his eyes.

[Successfully saved Smoker from going dark. Congratulations, you've earned 1,000 Virtue Points.]

[Virtue Points have exceeded 3,000. Would you like to use the lottery system?]

'Oh, right! I almost forgot about the lottery!'

This poor kid…

Marsh shot an annoyed glance at Smoker, who was sobbing uncontrollably.

He needed a way to get him out of the room.

"Take some time to think it over. I need to rest."

Smoker looked up, noticing that Marsh, who'd been so vigorous just moments ago, was now pale and struggling to breathe.

His bandaged wounds had started bleeding again.

Oh no!

It must have been those slaps that reopened his wounds!

Even though he barely knew him, this fellow Marine had pushed himself this far for his sake, while he'd been wallowing in self-pity…

Compared to him, he was pathetic!

No!

From now on, he would work hard to become an outstanding Marine like him!

"I understand." Smoker stood up, wiped his tears, and said, "I'll master the power of this fruit and become an exceptional Marine!"

With that, he left Marsh's room.

Watching him leave, Marsh finally sighed in relief.

Hopefully, he really understood what he meant…

"Lottery!"

[Would you like to do single draws or a triple pull?]

"Is there a difference?"

[Those who pull triples have better luck.]

"…Fine, let's do a triple!"

[The draw begins! Congratulations! You have obtained Advanced Armament Haki!]

[Congratulations! You have obtained the Thunder-Thunder Fruit!]

[Congratulations! You have obtained the complete set of Icha Icha Paradise!]

The advanced Armament Haki was certainly something to be excited about. If Garp punched him now, he probably wouldn't be lying here afterward.

The Thunder-Thunder Fruit was a bit strange.

"System, is this Thunder-Thunder Fruit from Skypiea?"

[Exactly.]

"If I eat it, won't Enel lose his fruit?"

[The future is unpredictable.]

Alright.

The first two rewards made sense.

But what's the deal with the third one?

'Did you steal this from a certain village over?!'

'After all my hard work, did I really pull this as a prize?!'

[Since the host will need to perform good deeds in the real world, your chances of meeting romantic interests may be limited. This is an auxiliary aid for self-care when necessary.]

...Well, thank you so much for that!
