Chapter 12: Sea
What does it have to do with me if you guys eat shit or run naked on a live broadcast? I can’t see it.
Ren looked at the comments and was left speechless. “Is there no rich person with the guts to step up? I can prove that I’ve traveled through time and space, so just reward me with 100,000 Berries!”
“Hehe…”
“Hehe…”
…
Ren’s provocative comment sparked a flurry of seven or eight “hehe” (haha) responses filled with ellipses!
“Fuck you!” Ren, who had a short temper, cursed inwardly and punched Kaida in the stomach.
Bang!
“Ugh!” Poor Kaida was nearly rolling on the ground in pain from the punch. “Why did you hit me?”
“Is it wrong to suddenly feel unhappy with you?”
——
Hannah jumped onto Ingrid's computer and typed out a message:
“Host, aren’t you going to find the King of the Sea? As long as this King of the Sea is a real Sea King, I, Princess Snow, will reward you with 100,000 Berries.”
After sending that message, Hannah smiled wickedly, bounced back to her seat, and typed another comment:
“Brother anchor, the rich man is here. Let’s show her what a time-travel anchor is and make her understand what an impossible time-travel miracle really is.”
…
“Hannah, what did you do on my computer?” Ingrid, who was already sitting in front of the dressing table putting on makeup, noticed Hannah's actions and asked casually.
“Oh, nothing. I just sent a barrage to attack the anchor,” Hannah replied, straightening her expression to answer seriously.
“Don’t finish the game too quickly. There’s still some time before the live broadcast starts. It will be boring if you finish the game,” she added.
“Uh-huh!”
…
“Thank you, Princess Snow, for your support, and thank you to my little sister for your affirmation. Without further ado, let’s set off for the sea! An absolutely exciting journey will begin soon. Put on your glasses!” Ren felt a surge of confidence after reading those last two comments.
As long as what Princess Snow said was true, the reward of 100,000 Berries for completing the task would surely be his.
“Contempt, contempt, contempt!”
“Host, if this isn’t exciting, would you dare to go to the sea and livestream eating shit?”
“Waiting for the anchor to fail in his attempt to show off.”
“Haha, the plot of this movie is pretty good!”
“Anchor brother, be careful.”
——
“Go to hell!”
“Go to hell, you little shrimp soldier!”
Ren was browsing the live broadcast comments and was about to step out of the tavern when suddenly, two roars echoed through the room. Kaida’s three younger brothers brandished their big knives and swung at his back.
“You’re asking for trouble! You’ll die!” Ren leaned forward and instantly turned around, spinning the broadsword in his hand. With a perfect dodge and counterattack, he sliced the palms of Kaida’s three younger brothers holding the swords, causing their weapons to fall to the ground along with their severed hands.
“Ah!” “Ah!” “Ah!”
In an instant, howls of pain reverberated throughout the tavern.
“I’m sorry, Madam Landlady, we’ll have to clean the tavern!” The wails of pain rang in Ren’s ears, but he treated it as if it were insignificant. He casually remarked and walked out of the tavern directly, bloodied sword in hand.
After severing the hands of three men, Ren, who had witnessed the brutality of this world, felt little burden on his conscience. However, it was his first time actually harming someone, so he was more or less still getting used to it.
Ririka and the other patrons in the tavern heard the men’s howls and stared blankly at the door, utterly unable to believe what they had just witnessed. Three renowned mercenaries had been so easily incapacitated?
——
“That was fake, right? Is the anchor really that fast? Did he actually break their palms?”
“It’s obviously fake! If it were real, why did the anchor come out so quickly? He left fast because he was afraid we’d discover the trick. Besides, if it were genuine, who would shout out a warning just before succeeding in a sneak attack? It’s clearly a ridiculous movie plot designed to make the anchor react.”
Ren wanted to say, this is indeed a live broadcast; the three assailants hadn’t made a sound, and their movements were perfectly synchronized on the live stream, resulting in an identical outcome.
“It must be fake. If it were real, the anchor would’ve shown off during the livestream. He killed someone but didn’t brag about it. Does that align with the anchor’s style?”
“Isn’t there a Tech Emperor here? Come out and explain the broken hand scene. By the way, have you figured out the knife-grabbing trick?”
“Um, sorry, my computer resolution is too low. I can’t see it clearly even when I slow it down.”
“What about the one with the broken hand now?”
“We’re studying it!”
“Forget it, I’ll go find a few people to take a look. I don’t believe they can’t find flaws in this movie.”
“Fuck, aren’t we all just watching this as a movie? Why take it so seriously?”
…
“Ah!” The three men’s hands were severed, and blood spurted out. Hannah screamed involuntarily.
“What’s wrong?” Ingrid looked back, confused.
“The anchor chopped off three people’s hands!”
“It’s just chopping off a hand, not a beheading! And it’s fake, so why are you afraid?”
“I’m not scared; I’m excited! It’s so thrilling to watch! The host’s movements are so handsome!” Hannah said, mimicking Ren’s action as he turned and spun his sword.
“…” Ingrid was speechless and immediately turned back to continue putting on her makeup. “Hannah, remember the purpose of watching this live broadcast, and don’t give random tips.”
“Hehe, don’t worry, Ingrid.”
Ren was standing outside the tavern when Kaida rushed out, trembling, and stood beside him with a look of sheer horror on his face.
He had killed many people and witnessed various battles, but Ren’s strength frightened him so much that he had no intention of resisting. The big knife had nearly touched his back, yet he was able to counterattack with such ease. Kaida had no idea just how formidable Ren truly was.
“If those three idiots hadn’t shouted out at the end, he can still probably have taken them down without breaking a sweat, right?”
“Here.” Ren casually tossed the sword to Kaida. “Take me to the beach!”
“Y-Yes, yes!” Kaida hurriedly took the machete and stepped forward to lead the way.
Ren followed Kaida, preparing to continue the live broadcast. At that moment, the number of viewers suddenly surged, increasing by six.
“I heard this is a time-travel live broadcast. I heard the host is very talented. Let’s perform. Let a country bumpkin like me learn something new.”
“I heard that the anchor can snatch a blade with his bare hands. I’d love a teaching video! I’ve always dreamed of learning that move.”
“With the background processing, the visuals, the extras, wow! The local tyrant is simply incredible. Broadcaster, although I’m not talented, I’m also a broadcaster with hundreds of thousands of fans. Do you want me to promote you? I guarantee your audience will skyrocket to tens of thousands in no time. When that happens, just give me some gifts. Anyway, money is nothing to you!”
“Brother Jun, others are broadcasting live from the One Piece world, and they are time-traveling! Do they care about your popularity? Just wait and kneel down to show your admiration!”
“Fuck, don’t be so flattering right away! This movie is pretty good, and it’s quite creative to think of broadcasting it this way.”
“The host is now saying he’s going to the sea to find the King of the Near Sea. Brothers, please help me check whether this King of the Near Sea is real or fake.”
“Brother Stick, with this scene and the cast, but only so few viewers, it’s obvious that this is just to find bugs. We have to be a free movie testers.”
