Chapter 82: Chapter 82: The Burning Daddy
"I've previously introduced the Paramecia and Zoan-type Devil Fruits..." Wright cleared his throat. These early lessons lately made him feel like he was back in a classroom, except this time, he was the one standing at the front.
It turns out, I'm quite the teacher after all!
"Today, we finally come to the most incredible type of Devil Fruit—Logia! And first, let's talk about one of the natural elements we encounter every day—fire!"
"Why not something like air or light?" Ace raised his hand.
Wright's expression darkened. "Then don't eat cooked food later!"
"Hehehe, go on, Uncle Wright. I was just asking for fun..."
You little brat. If it weren't for today's lesson being a matter of life and death for you, would I have set it up like this?
Wright shot Ace a glare before continuing, "Logia-type Devil Fruits, when consumed, turns the body into the corresponding natural element. For example, the Flame-Flame Fruit turns the eater into fire! Except for a few specific attacks, regular attacks can't harm a Logia user's body."
"Wow! That's amazing!"
"Don't think it's all smooth sailing just yet—there are still things that can hurt a Logia user, like Seastone, ArmamentHaki, and... Devil Fruits that counteract theirs!
"You already know about Seastone—it's the common weakness of all Devil Fruit users. We've also talked about Armament Haki, which has noticeable signs when it's used. But counteracting Devil Fruits... you'll only know when you face them!
"If you've never fought against someone with a superior Devil Fruit, you could easily be caught off guard! For instance, the superior version of the Flame-Flame Fruit—The Magma-Magma Fruit!"
The three young ones were hearing the term "superior Devil Fruit" for the first time, their eyes widening as they listened intently. The outside world really is incredible, and the mountain bandits would never teach them this!
"The Magma-Magma Fruit allows the user to turn into magma, with its high temperature and explosive attack power. It could almost be considered a natural disaster-level threat!" Wright explained slowly.
"Then why is the Flame-Flame Fruit considered the lower tier compared to the Magma-Magma Fruit? Fire isn't cooler than magma!" Sabo asked, puzzled.
"Exactly. Flames can reach temperatures of several thousand degrees, while magma only reaches around a thousand degrees... In other words, fire is several times hotter than magma. So, how does magma counter fire?"
Wright paused, noticing that Sabo was deep in thought. Ace and Luffy still had clueless looks on their faces, causing Wright to sigh internally—Sabo had already made far better use of the Flame-Flame Fruit than Ace!
Come to think of it, I hadn't paid attention before, but Sabo reminds me a lot of my younger self—hmm, a kid who thinks is much more likeable...
"Magma is a solid, while fire is an intangible phenomenon that results from combustion. So, when fire and magma collide, magma, being solid, can easily stop fire from burning!
"To put it simply, you know how sand can put out a fire? Well, magma is like molten sand! Even though it's hot, it can still extinguish fire!
"The only chance fire has against magma is to reach a temperature that can vaporize the magma—making the fire turn white or even blue, achieving such high temperatures that it can vaporize magma. But this takes time. If the magma is plentiful and intense, it can still put out the fire before it's vaporized!
"So... if a Flame-Flame user faces a Magma-Magma user, it's best not to compete with them unless you're much stronger!"
Wright looked at Ace deeply before continuing, "The Flame-Flame user hasn't appeared yet, but the Magma-Magma user is now Vice Admiral Sakazuki of the Navy Headquarters—a hard-hitting military man with an iron-blooded style. He's also someone who believes in eradicating pirates without mercy."
The three boys, stunned, stared at Wright in disbelief.
Wright chuckled. "Looks like you need some time to rethink fire... Next, let's think about how fire can be used to its maximum effect in battle. Looking at this torch, can you think of any ways to utilize fire?"
Under Light's careful guidance, the three young ones learned a lot about fire and its applications, leaving them in awe of Wright's knowledge. Especially Sabo—this was the first time he found studying, something he usually hated, actually interesting!
"Remember what we've discussed today—who knows, it might just save your lives one day?" Wright concluded the morning lesson with a smile, noticing the boys' eager expressions. "Now, let's begin your basic training!"
"Ah~~!" The wails of the boys echoed as they braced themselves for yet another grueling training session.
Wright watched them, still crying out in pain but pushing through the training with grit. He nodded to himself.
"Today's lesson might just increase Ace's chances of survival in the future... but our positions will always be adversarial.
"If you still can't defeat Blackbeard, or escape from Sakazuki, then all hope is lost...
"But if you do survive... then you'll finally understand the answer to the question you've always been chasing—the meaning of your birth.
"Only by surviving will you have a chance... and chances..."
"The World Summit is about to begin, Wright. How's everything on your end?" The phone bug, mimicking Garp's grinning face, bared its teeth.
"Everything's going great... The brats are all getting along with me. Garp, I gotta say, you really should learn a thing or two about teaching kids from me..." Wright spoke confidently, not the least bit shy.
The phone bug's face darkened, and Wright quickly switched the topic. "Alright, I got it. I'll be back in a week... but I still have the last lesson to teach tomorrow!"
"Hmph, good lad! But let me tell you, I'm going to personally check on your progress! Wait until I'm on break and you'll see what I mean by 'education with love'!" Garp's booming laugh echoed as the phone bug hung up.
"This old coot really thinks his 'education with love' can produce a top-notch Navy officer? In about ten years, that kid Coby might end up getting trained by Bogard!" Wright muttered to himself.
"Anyway... once I finish the last lesson tomorrow, it'll be time to head back. But today..." Wright looked up at the darkening sky. "Sabo's 'brother'—I'm really curious about him... What kind of rare treasure could he be to end up as the King of the Goa Kingdom? Maybe it's worth checking out."
As this thought occurred to him, Wright's interest was piqued. The boys had finished their training and returned home, so Wright set off for the inner city of Goa Kingdom.
The Goa Kingdom, spotless and known as the most beautiful country in the East Blue, had eliminated anything unnecessary, making it the perfect example of an "isolated society."
And Wright... he was born into the nobility of that very kingdom.
...
Staring at the towering city walls, Wright's appearance subtly shifted. Using his transformation abilities, he disguised himself as a regular noble, turning his sword into an inconspicuous cane. With a slow, deliberate pace, he entered the kingdom he hadn't seen in twelve years.
"Let's see... after twelve years, have you made even the slightest bit of progress?"
