Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Germa 66
"Wright, the Kingdom of Cozia in the East Blue has been conquered by Germa 66…"
Wright was flying at high speed when Sengoku informed him of the latest developments concerning Germa 66 through the Den Den Mushi.
"Although the Kingdom of Cozia is not affiliated with the World Government, its defensive forces are not to be underestimated. They detected Germa's army in advance and launched a surprise counterattack. While the kingdom ultimately fell, they managed to inflict some damage on Germa in the process."
"Right now, Germa is regrouping within Cozia's borders. This is your chance. Otherwise, finding this mobile army in the vast East Blue would be nearly impossible."
"I understand," Wright replied gravely. "I'll head to Cozia now… I have the latest marine charts with me. With my speed…"
After quickly calibrating his position and doing a few calculations, Wright continued, "From my current location, it should take about a day to reach the Kingdom of Cozia at my current pace."
"Good. It's up to you now… Wright, Germa is a member state of the World Government, but it is also a war nation notorious for countless acts of hired warfare and even annihilation of countries."
"Germa once ruled over the North Blue, but that was long ago. I'll tell you this—most of the legends about Germa are true. The stories were only turned into folklore to minimize fear and public unrest."
"I understand, Old Man Sengoku," Wright said with a nod. "Old Man Garp has always emphasized that the East Blue is a symbol of peace. No matter how chaotic things get in the North Blue, its traditions and way of life can withstand it…"
"But the East Blue is different."
"No matter who had the audacity to hire Germa to attack a kingdom here, I'll find out."
"The Marines… are more than just a façade!"
...
"Lord Judge! The statistics for the conquest of the Kingdom of Cozia are in. Our losses exceeded expectations. The primary reason was that the kingdom detected our army early. It seems their defensive protocols differ significantly from those in the North Blue."
"The royal family of Cozia contacted the Marines. We've sent formal notifications through the designated World Government channels. While the Marines are unhappy about our presence in the East Blue, they haven't pursued the matter deeply. As for the royals, they've been executed per your orders."
Aboard Germa 66's massive snail battleship, Vinsmoke Judge, the king of the Germa Kingdom, sat on his throne, listening to the report on their latest war of annihilation.
"The Marines… hmph!" Judge sneered. "They're not fools. I bet they've already realized something…"
"I've already notified the World Government. The infamous Donquixote Family, once so dominant in the North Blue, was brought to its knees by the Marines recently, leaving the entire sea in a state of fear. But I, Judge, will not make the same mistake!"
"As a World Government member state, even if I've come to the East Blue—this so-called 'symbol of peace' created by the Marines—they can't touch me! Hahahahaha!"
On the shores of the Kingdom of Cozia, Wright had already tucked away his conspicuous Holy Light Wings, switching to stealth mode with the use of Geppo to approach silently.
This mission required covert infiltration, so Wright forewent his Justice Coat. Ashes was concealed within a specialized sheath crafted by Vegapunk to mask its glow. Ideally, Rosinante would have been the best choice for this mission, but his combat strength was insufficient.
Not long after his assignment to the G-3 Branch, Wright had mastered the Life Return ability through rigorous training in Paper Arts, one of the Marine Rokushiki (Six Powers) techniques. Later, by ingeniously combining it with the power of Holy Light, he developed a unique ability: Illusion Form.
This technique allowed Wright to alter his physique, facial features, hair color, skin tone, and even eye color. With the peculiar optical tricks of the Holy Light, he could even adjust his height, creating a complete transformation into someone else—so long as he avoided combat.
Now, using Illusion Form, Wright disguised himself as one of Germa 66's cloned soldiers. These clones came in various body types and appearances, though many shared identical templates, with batches of clones produced from the same models.
With his Observation Haki active, Wright moved like a ghost, evading sentries and patrols. Whenever he encountered surveillance Den Den Mushi, he used his Light Speed ability to zip past unnoticed. His stealthy progress brought him to the heart of Germa's mobile kingdom—the central fortress where Judge resided.
Vinsmoke Judge's bombastic speeches seemed to lack any intention of secrecy. The vast majority of Germa's population consisted of clones absolutely loyal to him, so there was little need for discretion.
This gave Wright the distinct displeasure of overhearing Judge's arrogant declaration: "The Marines can't do anything to me!"
To the outside world, Germa's kingdom was a terrifying and unstoppable war machine. Their soldiers operated with mechanical precision, discipline, and exceptional combat skills, undaunted by death. Moreover, their supply of soldiers seemed endless.
Most people had no idea why Germa's forces were so formidable. Unfortunately for them, Wright did—they were mass-produced clones, artificial weapons of war created through Germa's technological prowess.
While these soldiers were utterly loyal to Judge, they had a fatal weakness. Controlling Judge himself would render the entire Germa army leaderless, plunging Germa 66 into chaos.
Wright had no intention of eradicating the clone soldiers—they were living beings. Since they already existed, they deserved a chance to live.
But the production of new clones had to stop.
The Vinsmoke family had been playing with fire for years, and sooner or later, they would burn themselves to ashes.
After the meeting, Vinsmoke Judge returned to his quarters. As a brilliant scientist who once worked alongside Vegapunk, Judge had cast aside his humanity long ago to pursue revenge and restore his family's rule over the North Blue.
"This battle involved my children… The monitoring data shows promising improvements in their abilities," Judge mused as he walked.
"As for that failure… Not seeing him really brings peace of mind. Perhaps he's already dead out there. Hehehe…"
Creak…
The door opened.
Suddenly, a tremendous force kicked Judge into the room, leaving his body paralyzed.
Bang!
The door slammed shut as a man, disguised as a Germa clone soldier, stepped closer.
"Holy Light Barrier—Arena!"
A cold voice echoed. Immobilized, Judge strained to move his eyes. He saw himself and the clone soldier encased in a golden, semi-transparent barrier that surrounded them completely, from the ground to the ceiling.
"Vinsmoke Judge, King of Germa… I've heard so much about you!
"Now, we have some business to discuss. Since this may involve physical negotiations, I've taken some precautions to minimize your losses.
"No need to thank me. I never leave my name after doing a good deed."
