Chapter 291: The Unexpected Turn Of Events
His plan was simple. He would use the same layout that mayor provided as security and hit this vault before using the tunnel to reach the second vault. The only thing he hesitated about so far was to return to the building or go up to the barn.
"If I had time then it's better to go and kill them," he muttered while running fast in the dimly lit tunnel, "at least I'll decrease the number of my enemies by a great chunk and will have more gains as well."
The memory of having all those gears from the hundred guards he killed was still fresh in his mind. He also wanted to decrease the number of his pursuers, as he was quite sure things wouldn't be this easy while running away.
"Almost there," he checked the map for the millionth time before he found two dots descending towards the vault at this moment. "Damn! Out of all time they decided to come down now!" he gritted his teeth and continued running fast.
He arrived first but had to lay in ambush for the two guards who were about to reach the vault. The second room here was simply like the one he came from, and the vault was also similar.
"Dash!"
"Dash!"
He first stunned them just to make sure they wouldn't alarm anyone before he finished them off.
"Time for you baby," he turned to the vault after clearing all the loot. The loot went directly to his inventory and that made him more convinced about going up there and clearing everyone.
"Death point convert… sword tornado!"
Like the other vault he unleashed his strongest skills towards the vault, yet this time a new thing happened.
"Beep!"
"Beep!"
"Beep!"
All of sudden when his swords started eating the vault away, red lights started to flash and siren alarms echoed all over the place.
Before he could realize what happened, Sharel hurriedly sent:
'What have you done? The sounds of sirens are spreading all over the town now!'
'I… just attacked the vault to open it,' he didn't know what else to say.
'Damn that bastard! He installed a warning gear at this vault to protect his stuff… what exactly are you trying to steal?'
'Nothing fancy.'
'I bet,' she knew it wasn't time to chat, 'now our time here is limited. I believe all the guards up above will move now to your location, plus all the guards in the town will converge here.'
He glanced at the vault that was about to crack before checking the map of the barn above and her words were right. 'And?' he calmly asked.
'I'll return to my boss and see what we can do now,' she sent before going into silence.
"They will either ditch me and run, or prefer to gamble for the big reward lying at the end of the tunnel," he slowly muttered to himself before the swords finally cracked the vault open.
He didn't hesitate to dash inside even before his swords finished their skill. He started to gather up everything his two hands could touch while he was searching for his item.
"It's you…" he finally found a large skull lying in the center of the vault with nothing else around. "So suspicious… let me test it first."
He took out a gear from the side and threw it towards the skull.
"Boom!"
The next instant a pillar of red fire appeared from the ground and engulfed the gear in no time.
And it burnt it into nothing.
"Damn! Even leaving behind such a scary protective trap!!" Bloom was speechless and shocked before he clenched his fists. "I won't leave you behind, I came all this way only for you."
His mind started to work fast and the next moment he had a plan. He returned to collect everything while watching the map.
"They are coming here faster than I thought," he mumbled before he found a large number of guards already not more than half a minute away. "And more are coming from outside."
In front of him many red dots started to appear in the barn coming from the outside. That meant that the entire garrison around the mansion was now converging fast at him.
"Then it's going to be hard… except…" he suddenly paused before laughing. "I should not run, but warmly welcome them then."
He didn't stop collecting his loot while he sent a message to Sharel
'What your boss said about the plan?'
'She will help,' Sharel replied, 'but she wants all the loot.'
"Oh," the eyes of Bloom shone brightly, "so she is aiming for the loot… impressive move."
He grinned before writing his simple answer to her.
'Let her retreat, I'll escape on my own and our deal is off. I'll cancel it now.'
He didn't do it and in fact he didn't intend to.
'Wait, let me return to her. Don't do anything rash for now,' she hurriedly sent as his answer startled her and came out of the blue.
And he didn't even answer back to her on purpose.
"I'll leave you hanging there for now," he closed the chat and ignored the other negotiating messages she sent. He knew dealing with the two would be tricky, yet he wasn't a simple man after all.
And he was totally prepared for anything, even for escaping from here on his own account.
"He must be inside!"
Just as he cleared almost two thirds of the vault content, a loud shout came from behind the door of the room.
"Hurry, open this damned door before he runs away!"
"Too late my friends," Bloom sneered before he went directly towards the tunnel.
"Click!"
The door opened and the next moment a large group of guards flooded the entire room.
"Search for the thieves," one shouted, "look inside the vault."
Few went to the vault to check the inside while the rest searched all over the room.
"Captain," one suddenly shouted, "the vault is already stolen."
