Chapter 148: Anywhere XXXXXX (2)
Then came the next day.
Today, the plan was to finally head to the guild and pick up some work! Or so I thought, but instead, it turned into another day of rest, considering the condition of the two…
Yesterday, they had been in quite a feverish state throughout the night and until well past noon, so I decided to let them rest properly today. I did make them drink my trustworthy and proven homemade potions, so I believe they should be fine.
So, here I am, with another day of free time on my hands. Well, there’s not much to do, to be honest.
Hmm… watching the two of them getting all excited yesterday made me feel like doing it too… Nah, I won’t, though. You see, I have this policy of only doing that in the private room of my own house.
But still… I wonder if there’s a way to have that “homey” feeling without taking out my home? Maybe I could swap the room in my current rented house with my actual home room… Nah, the room sizes don’t match. My home’s room is quite spacious.
Then maybe I could somehow teleport to my room from anywhere? Like, maybe keeping my home inside the [storage] and being able to go inside while it was still stored.
Hmmm… It seems like I’d need to create some kind of phenomenon that distorts time and space for this to work. In the first place, generally, you can’t put living creatures into the [Storage] or [Item Box], huh?
Wait a minute, though. Maybe that limitation was just for the [Item Box]? Maybe [Storage] could work after all? And now that I think about it, the small turtle magic beasts I bought yesterday were inside [Storage] while still alive…
Let’s try taking one turtle out of the [Storage] and see if I can put it into my Magic Bag… Nope, it won’t go in. [Storage] does seem to be more versatile and high-performance. Now, can I put larger living creatures inside it? How about a person? However, conducting experiments on humans raises too many ethical issues, so I’ll try with some random monster instead.
I snuck out of the house and rode Norn to the depths of the forest. I found a random Goblin and tried to put it into [Storage]… It won’t go in.
Hmm? What’s the difference here? Is it a matter of intelligence? Yeah, that seems to be it.
Back home, I continued my investigation. I didn’t want to involve other people, so I tried to put myself into [Storage], or rather, I attempted to see if it was possible… Well, not all the way, just a test to see if it was feasible, okay? And the result? It felt like it might work but also like it might not.
Hmm… it seems like I might be able to do it if certain conditions are met.
Alright, time to rely on my brute force approach. While chugging MP recovery potions, I used [Creation Magic], and bam! I made this magical door. It was just the frame and door, but opening it connected it directly to the same shape and size door of my house that was inside the storage.
I actually managed to do it, though I nearly drained all my magical power and died.
After some experimentation, it appeared that only I could enter my home within [Storage] through this door. I had Norn and Bell try it, but they just passed through it. And I couldn’t exit my home within [Storage] either; the outside beyond the window was pitch black.
Even more strangely, while I was inside [Storage,] time seemed to pass in a specific area—or rather, just for me. Things left in my home didn’t seem to experience the passage of time.
For example, a warm drink I had left there remained warm the entire time. It’s creepy. But conveniently, clocks still seem to work. I have no idea how this all fits together.
Also, while I was inside [Storage], time appeared to pass normally outside. It could potentially be used as an emergency shelter, but only I can use it.
However, something about this feels off… It’s almost too convenient for me. It’s starting to seem suspicious…
Well, I’m definitely going to use it! I mean, it’s been almost a month since I’ve done my daily routine! Well, it’s not really daily if I haven’t been doing it, right? It’s practically a daily routine scam!
But the timing might be tricky, huh? I made those potions from materials that made those two act that way, and I’m afraid I’ll end up in a similar state…
Wait, why am I assuming I have to use that? I don’t have to use it at all! Alright, no potions!
So, as I was doing all that, it quickly became evening. Time flies when you’re having fun…
After cleaning up my little project, I stepped out of my room to find the two of them in the midst of cooking. It was Arisa’s turn today, but Lily was helping because she had some free time.
I sat in the living room and watched them cook while waiting for dinner to be ready.
These two have been going at it from the night before yesterday until yesterday afternoon, huh? I wonder just what… No, I better not imagine strange things. It’ll put me in a weird mood.
After dinner, we discussed our plans for tomorrow.
It was nothing complicated, just going to the guild, looking for some suitable quests, and taking them on.
But if there weren’t any promising quests other than Goblin extermination, we decided to go ahead with that. The day before yesterday didn’t yield anything good either, and it’s not like new and rare quests appeared so often…
After our discussion, we each took turns taking a bath and then headed back to our rooms to sleep. Well, for me, I was going to use the magic door I made today right away! It’s been about a month, and I can’t wait any longer!
So, yeah, I’ll be back!
