No to Being the Suffering Heroine!

Chapter 61

After ordering some decent snacks, I savored my drink for about an hour.

I thought one bottle would be enough, but the table ended up stacked with empty bottles.

What a lavish after-party it was!

The innkeeper, who kept fussing that wine isn’t meant to be drunk like this, even gave us a complimentary stir-fried meat dish that we hadn’t ordered.

I just wanted to drink one or two glasses and call it a night, but it turned out both Amy and even Friede enjoyed their drinks more than I expected.

I guess an Adventurer is still an Adventurer, even if they look young and innocent?

“Ugh… this is the taste. I can’t remember the last time I had this drink.”

“Uh, you’ve probably had it before?”

“Magicians can always find ways to make money. But once I buy magic books or potions, there isn’t much left over, you see?”

“If you have no money left, doesn’t that mean you can’t drink?”

“That’s just talk—come on, I can’t possibly be completely broke, right?”

“Uh, wait, weren’t you…?”

“Of course, a bottle of wine costing 5 silver is expensive, but it’s not like I can’t afford it! Just from this request alone, I’d still have money left after buying it.”

“Well… that’s great. So, you can buy the next bottle then.”

“Why is the conversation going in that direction…? But sure, if you buy one, I can pitch in.”

“Hmmm… alright then.”

As they bantered back and forth, pretending not to notice, they seemed to feel awkward about only drinking amongst themselves. Every time I emptied my glass, they immediately filled it again.

“I’ll pay for this round. So, here, let’s have another toast. Cheers!”

“Ugh… this is delicious… Here, Hilde, you should try some too!”

When I expressed my dislike for ale, they even went as far as ordering drinks that were at least decent, even if not to the level of Riesling.

“Uh… okay, I get it.”

Their natural insistence made it hard for me to refuse, and soon I found myself gulping down drinks until the alcohol’s effects kicked in hard.

Wait, Hilde was supposed to be in such a state with alcohol before?

… Who knows? Hilde in the original story was the type to sip one or two drinks and not go overboard.

One thing was clear.

If I kept drinking like this, I’d surely end up completely wasted at some point.

“Hmm, this one’s not bad either. Here, Hilde, you should try it.”

“Hilde! Your glass is empty! Let me refill it!”

… It didn’t seem like that moment was too far away.

I think I ended up drinking for about two more hours.

What do you mean I “think” I drank?

Well—

“Ugh… my head hurts….”

Just a moment ago, I was definitely drinking some sweet and sour green drink, but when I came to, I found myself sprawled out on my bed.

Morning sunlight seeped through the tightly shut window. The sound of chirping birds drilled into my eardrums, echoing in my head.

‘What time is it…?’

My blanket felt damp and hot from sweating all night, and my limp body felt both heavy and light at the same time.

It was hard to say if I was in a good state or not.

With a head spin that could rival an extreme breakdancer, it felt like the contents of my skull were swirling around.

‘It seems like morning… did I really drink all night…?’

I pressed my temple with my hand and pushed myself up from the bed, leaning against the pillow.

“Haah…”

A sigh mixed with sweet fruity scents and strong alcohol wafted around me.

Rubbing my eyelids, I blinked open my eyes to reveal a hazy world.

A shirt soaked in sweat, and skin exposed. Hair clung to me.

Between the blanket that had slipped down to my waist, a bright lemon-colored fuzz peeked through like grass.

“… Huh?”

Struck dumb by the sight.

I blinked repeatedly and rubbed my eyes to look down at my own state again.

‘Not wearing anything…?’

It was the same upon closer inspection.

I had thrown off my armor and even my padded clothing; what covered my body was nothing but a loosely buttoned white shirt draped across like a robe.

Swish.

‘This too… not wearing anything.’

When I lifted the blanket to check, my lower body had nothing on it at all, fully exposing my pale skin.

What’s going on here?

If the ones I drank with were Amy and Friede, I would’ve sworn something terrible happened overnight.

Then again, I never did drink alongside any men….

With my dizzy head going momentarily blank, my cheeks felt flush from the awkward situation.

“What on earth…”

What happened?

I clearly remembered that we three were drinking to celebrate our successful request… but I didn’t recall anything that followed.

What on earth could have happened that led me to be sprawled out on my bed in this state?

… I don’t know.

Whether it was from overdrinking and losing track of time or if my hungover brain was refusing to think, no matter how hard I tried, the memories of the previous day didn’t surface.

Even so… no need to panic, right?

If my legs were sore or if there was blood on the blanket, then maybe, but given I was tucked in bed like this, I probably didn’t have anything bad happen to me.

Maybe I just got hot and took off my pajamas and underwear after going to bed last night?

Yeah, that sounds right.

That’d be a reasonable conclusion. One of my friends back in my old world also used to rip off his clothes when he got drunk.

Of course, I’d never imagine myself doing something like that.

“Haah…”

Letting out a sigh wrapped in determination to restrain my drinking going forward, I completely tossed the blanket off my lower body.

Whatever happened overnight, I could just ask my party members.

Since my sweaty body was sticky and gross, I decided to wash off in the bathroom first before putting anything else on.

… I had every intention of doing just that.

“Ugh…”

“Ugh…”

Before I could even notice due to my fuzzy head, I faced the unexpected guests in the blanket and froze once more.

“… Huh?”

It was a sight that made me doubt my own eyes.

Amy, clad in a sheer purple negligee, and Friede, with absolutely nothing on but her underwear.

With their bodies almost bare like mine, my party members were asleep on either side of my legs, curled up like shrimp.

“……”

What on earth is going on here?

Seriously, what the heck is going on?

Why are they sleeping here?

It was more than bewildering; it was horrifying.

On a morning after drinking hard, we were sprawled half-naked on a bed at the inn?

This totally looked like the three of us had a night of debauchery fueled by booze.

Thank goodness I’m in a woman’s body right now. If it were my original body from the old world, I’d be screaming and flailing about like it was the first day of school.

In this world, I might be an adult, but in Earth’s terms, Amy was still a minor.

And Friede looked even younger than her twenty years.

Did I really have something happen with them while drunk?

If I were back on Earth, armed men would burst in, yelling “FBI, open up!” while aiming weapons at us.

Of course, I was innocent.

Absolutely. There was no reason to even consider that possibility. There’s no way I’d do something with girls like them.

There’s a limit to drunken accidents, and even if it was drugs instead of alcohol, I wouldn’t be capable of such madness.

No, I wouldn’t even have the means to!

My “little friend” had long been sent to an early grave. To think it never even got a chance to be used properly. So sad.

So I should be safe on that front.

Probably.

“Ugh…”

“Ugh…”

“……”

So, they must have, like me, simply lost their senses after drinking too much.

They probably didn’t have the mental capacity left to find their own lodgings.

Their disheveled state with casual underwear was likely due to heat, just like mine.

… Right? It must be.

It had to be.

No, it must be! I swear on my honor and conscience.

After barely regaining my chaotic mind, I carefully got out of bed, making sure not to wake either of them as I headed to the bathroom.

Avoiding stepping on the clothes strewn across the floor.
That’s my panties… and I think those are Friede’s pants? The robe draped over the chair looks like Amy’s.

The armor was at least neatly organized in one corner, while other clothing was scattered haphazardly all around like a mess.

If someone saw this, they might think we had a snowball fight with clothes, for real.

Splash!

“Ugh….”

As I sank into the bathtub filled with water, the icy chill pierced my body, making my shoulders shudder slightly.

Perhaps because it was morning, they hadn’t bothered to warm the water. The bath water flowing from the pump was as cold as a winter lake.

Although it definitely woke me up, I submerged myself completely in the cold water, carefully washing away the sweat from my head and body.

Once Amy and Friede woke up, I resolved to ask them about what had happened the previous night.

… To be honest, asking made me a bit hesitant, but I still needed to do it.

I was confident I hadn’t done “that sort of thing,” but they say there’s always a chance.

However unlikely it might be, it wasn’t impossible to think that I could have gone completely wild while drunk.

… What if I actually did something terrible?

Just thinking about it felt like my vision was going dark, and I almost fainted, so I decided to stop those thoughts right there.
