Chapter 85: Aftermath & Guild Chat

"Daaaaamn, I don't wanna do anything..." - Stella

It's been some hours after I escaped the vampire mansion and logged out. For some reason, there were few vampires and ghouls to block my path. There were signs of battles, so someone may have killed them. Probably Bones and Palug. Let's ask them later.

Though, I'm exhausted. I haven't even decided what evolution I should take. The vampire lord must have died at some point. I got a notification that my level had reached Lv.50 before I logged out, and it's not like I had anything else trapped in a highly explosive location.

But today's ordeal's worn me out. Guess I'll take a break tomorrow. The raid against the remaining Nobilis faction's still ongoing, and I don't want to attract too much attention, so it's better to lay low for a day.

For now, let's see if the others are in the Guild Chat. Funny thing is, only Bones knew of its existence before he told the rest of us. That guy's communication powers are too crazy. ...hmm? What about Aino then? She looked like a winner in life...maybe she's surprisingly an otaku? Meh, not that I have the right to pry in their daily lives.

Back to the Guild Chat. It allows certain members of the Guild to send messages, trade items, and other stuff even when you're not logged into NFO. It's a kinda simple system, but it's nice to have when people can't log in.

Okay, how does this thing work...there. There's already a chat group started? "Vampire beatdown result report"...?

Guild Chat: Darkland Walkers.
[Vampire Beatdown Result Report] - Thread 1

1: Black Bone

Time to round up the results, ladies and gentlemen! Speak up when you arrive. Lurkers are not welcomed!!

2: Aino

What is this? Also, Garami told me one of her skills is called [Lurk].

3: Black Bone

Holy sh*t!!

4: Aino

Stop freaking out and tell me what happened when I was gone! Don't tell me you have already finished the vampire area?

5: Black Bone

We did! With style! I got 11 AP for it all!

6: Aino

I told you to wait for me! I also want AP!

7: Palug

Alas. Reality is not that kind. Even if it's a virtual one.

8: Aino

And who are you!?

9: Black Bone

Ah, that's Palug. We saved him from becoming dinner for ghouls, and I invited him after that.

10: Palug

Pleased to meet you.

---

I never agreed on that. Not that I have anything against it. Palug is a strong player, not to mention someone good at cooperating. Plus he didn't make any jokes about my somewhat chuuni appearance with a full assassin-clothes build and a black mask on top of that...

But even then, there's still the question of a leader's dignity!

The chat continued for a bit of a while with Palug making friends with Aino and Aino roasting Bones for not waiting for her. It seems I'll take some of the heat as well. Tch, what a pain...

---

41: Garami

Hello, how are things doing? And Bones, you're dead.

42: Aino

Aloha, Garami~.

43: Black Bone

Geh!? The boss!!

44: Palug

Hello, guild master. Please excuse Bones if he did anything wrong.

45: Black Bone

Palug, my hero!!

46: Garami

->44 No worries. It's just a habit by now.

47: Aino

->45 I think a hero wouldn't fit in our group.

48: Garami

Anyway, how do you guys want to share the loot?

49: Black Bone

NOW WE'RE TALKING!

50: Aino

Am I getting anything?

51: Palug

The invitation to the guild is enough for me. Rabbits are looked down upon, and I only participated halfway in the quest.

52: Garami

->50 Those who don't work don't get to eat.

53: Aino

TCH!

54: Black Bone

But what's the loot? Didn't we agree on the summoning stuff to me, those Keystones for the boss, and everything else to the Dungeon?

55: Aino

Keystones!?

56: Garami

Shadow and Moon. I've already given Moon to Nyx.

57: Palug

->55 One is from me.

58: Aino

->56 Tch. Shadow is too gloomy for me.

59: Black Bone

->56 Hey, that's a dream fit!

60: Garami

The Epic quest also gave some items. They look like "special requirement bonus rewards". Give me a sec...

61: Aino

There were even bonuses!?

62: Palug

Now, this is getting interesting.

63: Black Bone

Exciting, exciting~~

64: Garami

The first achievement is called the "Lich's Acknowledgement", and worked on releasing the lich from his contract. From this, we got an item called a "Soul Jar" and a piece of equipment called "Faded Lich's Mantle".
The second achievement is "No Damage Taken". The rewards here are a bunch of vampire-inspired items. Mostly materials, plus they're low in rarity.
The third achievement is "Divine Retribution", and we got a sword out of this. Think it's the saber the vampire lord used.
Achievement number four is "Saved Ally". It's related to the vampire girl Siel we busted out from the prison. The reward was a "Blood Bag". It's rather kinky, but on the other hand, it can store lots of items.

65: Black Bone

ME WAAAAAANT!!!! LICH ITEEEEEEMS!!!!

66: Palug

It is quite impressive what you two did there before we met.

67: Aino

->65 Someone, keep the rabid skeleton in check.

68: Garami

->65 I'll give them to you, but I need some compensation. Items and materials. Big time.

69: Black Bone

Damnit, you handsome cheapskate! JUST TAKE THEM!!

70: Aino

She's really handing them over...

71: Palug

The guild master is quite a generous person.

72: Garami

->70 They're restricted to the undead races.

73: Aino

Oh, I see.

74: Palug

->64 The bag seems amusing, but I would rather wish for the saber. Is it possible to trade it?

75: Garami

Sure.

76: Black Bone

...crap. This is bad...

77: Palug

->75 Much thankful.

78: Aino

->76 What is it now?

79: Black Bone

..."Lesser Lich" was unlocked as an evolution option just now.

80: Garami

-!?

81: Aino

WHAT!?

82: Palug

Oh, my-!

83: Garami

It was the "Soul Jar" item, right?

84: Black Bone

Yeah. After the trade, an announcement popped up on my screen, saying that "a new evolution option has been unlocked".

85: Aino

Just like that? What about your level?

86: Black Bone

It got capped today.

87: Aino

Again, WHAT?!

88: Black Bone

Too much happened today, so I wanted a break before deciding what to evolve into.

89: Palug

A good idea. I am in the same situation.

90: Garami

Oh? Me three.

91: Aino

All of you!? Am I the only one stuck at the E-rank!?

92: Palug

Don't mind it.

93: Garami

Bones, what are your other options?

94: Black Bone

Why do you ask?

95: Garami

I just fed the Fort all the materials I got from you and Palug. That unlocked the Undead-line.

96: Black Bone

SERIOUSLY?!

97: Garami

Deadly serious.

98: Aino

You can do stuff with the Dungeon without being logged in?

99: Garami

DP recovers over time, so things would be difficult if you had to log in every time you wanna spend them.

100: Palug

->98 It must be similar to how one can change equipment and evolve one's character without logging in.

101: Garami

->100 Like that, yes.

102: Black Bone

->97 Okay, I'll send a list of what I know about the undead later.

103: Garami

->102 Sweet.

104: Aino

But what about the element?

105: Garami

Whoops...

106: Black Bone

Completely forgot about it...

107: Palug

Element?

108: Black Bone

Yup. A Monster-Line needs an element if you want that line to be used on a floor.

109: Garami

And all the available elements my Dungeon has are taken at this point...

110: Palug

I see. Then how about using a Keystone?

111: Black Bone

Huh?

112: Palug

Keystones unlock Element skills, do they not? Isn't that enough to believe that they would work on Dungeons as well?

113: Black Bone

Ahahaha. Good joke.

114: Black Bone

.........hey, guild master? Why the long pause?

115: Aino

...the suspense is lethal...

116: Garami

It worked. I tested the theory with the Swamp Keystone, and it worked. The Dungeon can now obtain the Swamp element.

117: Black Bone

NO WAY!!

118: Aino

To think the answer was right in front of our noses all this time...

119: Palug

I am not sure I am following, but good for you.

120: Garami

It'll take more than a day to fully upgrade the Dungeon, so shall we meet again around this time on the day after tomorrow?

121: Aino

I can log in around that time, so sure.

122: Black Bone

Works for me.

123: Palug

There is no problem for me either.

124: Garami

Good. In that case, over and out.

---

I logged off the chat after that and started to do some number-crunching. Adding a new element or a new Monster-Line takes a lot of DP. Not to mention that the costs seem to vary depending on the rarity, or maybe the capability, of the added item.

I've already purchased the Arachnid-Line, so I just need to wait until I have enough DP for the Undead-Line. Then I can purchase the two elements from the sacrificed Keystones, and voila~. One horror-Dungeon, ready for take-out. Not that it'll ever be taken out.

Holy, both Shadow and Swamp are quite fitting for my Darkland Fort~. Perfect for scaring away intruders~.

But I shouldn't forget about the main event for tonight. The evolution~~.

I manipulated the screen and got my character's status sheet.

Nice~. Things are looking nice for me now. The new title only gave me a "proceed with the quest to obtain more info"-answer, so no clue there. The title related to the Corruption Goddess has disappeared. Good thing there. Now I don't have to fear being sacrificed for some other ritual.

And now for this time's evolution options... Holy. There are a whole 5 of them this time. I know about the rumors that the demon races have a lot of options, but this is ridiculous. Are the options increasing by 2 for each rank or something?

Evolution Options:
Abyss Udug:
  • Race: Demon (Spiritual Demon)
  • Element: Darkness
  • Requirements:
    • "Dark Udug" Lv.50
    • Skill: [Darkness Talent]
    • Karma Value: -150 or less
  • Cost: 10 Aether Points.
  • Description:
A spiritual demon of the Darkness element. Their existence is shrouded in mysteries.
They take the appearance of a horned humanoid, but the inside of their bodies are made of complete darkness. They reside in areas close to the abyss of hell, the shadow world, or any other grim locations.
They are tricky demons that rely on schemes and tricks, yet also have an incredible affinity for mystical abilities. Their MP, DEX, INT, and LUC are therefore extremely high.
They are not as durable as one could wish for, but they can strike when the enemy least expects it. To a lethal degree.
Teneras Gazer (Extra Evolution):
  • Race: Demon (Gazer Demon)
  • Element: None
  • Requirements:
    • "Dark Udug": Lv.50
    • Evil Eye-type skills: 3+
    • Class: [Evil Eye Invoker]
    • Karma Value: -100 or less
  • Cost: 12 Aether Points.
  • Description:
A many-eyed demon with a vague, humanoid shape.
These demons are Evil Eyes incarnated into a human shape. Their sole goal seems to be spreading the infernal optical powers throughout the world.
They possess high MP, MAG, RES, and INT, but are weak in the physical stats, plus their bodies prevent them from taking ordinary magician-line classes.
Despite this, they are incredibly powerful when dedicated to using their true strong points, Evil Eyes included.
Satyrophet (Extra Evolution):
  • Race: Demon (Humanoid Demon)
  • Element: Poison
  • Requirements:
    • "Dark Udug": Lv.50.
    • Skill: [Lesser Poison Talent]
    • Leadership skills at Lv.6 or higher; 3+
    • Status ailment skills at Lv.6 or higher: 3+
    • Karma Value: -100 or less
  • Cost: 12 Aether Points.
  • Description:
A goat-type humanoid demon that loves alcohol.
These demons are generally lazy and prefer to just chill while drinking alcohol. Yet, despite their lackluster will to work, they have an almost intoxicating level of charisma.
Satyrophets possess high MP, VIT, RES, and INT. This makes them durable, yet lacking the ability to finish the fight.
Instead, the Satyrophets rely on other demons they can command, along with various types of poisons, to slowly kill off those who would want to disturb the goat demon's life of debauchery.
Kikurachne (Extra Evolution):
  • Race: Demon (Arachnid Demon)
  • Element: Darkness
  • Requirements:
    • "Dark Udug": Lv.50.
    • Skill: [Darkness Talent]
    • Spider-related skills: 3+ (including at least 1 T-2 skill)
    • Evil Eye-type skills: 3+
    • Karma Value: -150 or less
  • Cost: 15 Aether Points.
  • Description:
A demonic spider that thrives in the dark.
These spiders can take on a humanoid form if needed. They hunt down invaders with their vicious, mystic arts, and webs that prevent anyone from escaping. Some people fear them as incarnations of the Grim Reaper.
Kikurachnes have great SPD, DEX, LUC, and MP. While they do lack "direct" attack power, they easily make it up with tricks and traps.
Ruin Servant (Extra Evolution):
  • Race: Demon (Servant Demon)
  • Element: Darkness, Death
  • Requirements:
    • "Dark Udug": Lv.50
    • Title: [Apostle of Ruin] (or similar title).
    • Title: [True Chaos]
  • Cost: 15 Aether Points.
  • Description:
A demon of the forces of Ruin. They serve the ancient gods of ends.
Ruin Servants are special demons who have been granted the blessings of the gods related to Ruin, or simply attained their attention somehow.
The Ruin Servants have a ridiculous high MP, STR, MAG, and LUC, turning them into walking terminators.
As one can expect, these demons are reliable on the DPS front. However, they are often taken out quite easily due to their fragile defense.

Yeah, this is much. Glad I decided to take tomorrow free from the game. This is a big decision...

Let's go over them one at a time. The Abyss Udug seems like a direct upgrade of the Dark Udug. I bet that a Poison-variant would have unlocked if I had evolved the [Lesser Poison Element]. It's the safest option, and it lets me save some AP as well. The fact that it seems like a more item-based race, seeing their high DEX and INT, is a letdown, but not something too bad.

Next is the "Teneras Gazer". It seems like a Gazer in humanoid form, but with no specific element that it focuses on. That again means it can prolly use a lot of different Evil Eyes. That it can't use normal magician classes is a downside, but Evil Eye Invoker isn't counted there, and I bet that Demon Caller's the same. I wouldn't have gotten the option if that was the case, I bet. And I don't have plans on taking any other magic-related classes, so the demerit's not that big for me.

Then there's the "Satyrophet". Why did this pop-up? It is alluring to just have Nyx and the others do all the hard work for me, but this demon seems like a tanking specialist. My stats are far from that, so I'm not sure it's all that good. Not that I can completely dismiss it either. If it's a goat-type demon, I can guess it's prolly connected to the "Baphomet" in one way or another.

The "Kikurarachne" seems like the evolution with the most options. Its stat-build is similar to what I have, it seems to be focused on "demonic abilities" like shapeshifting and Evil Eyes, and I've gotten a spider-build of my own despite my race not being related to spiders...yet. The downside is that it costs the most AP of all the evolutions, along with the last option.

Which is the "Ruin Servant". It has to be connected to my Epic Quest. I've studied "Servant Demons" after I tamed Nyx, so I know that, despite their name, I'm not forced to serve this "ruin goddess" just like that. The abilities are focused on "ruin", so it's easy to imagine this option will boost my attack power.

Hmm...yeah, can't decide! Let's do that tomorrow. I need to relax my brain for now. Though, I have an inkling of what I'm gonna choose. But it's better to take good time deciding this. And no matter what I choose, it's gonna be awesome! Hehehe...
