Chapter 52: Request for Advancement

The following morning, Naruto marched confidently into the Hokage's office. The sunlight streamed through the large windows, casting a warm glow over the room. Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, was seated at his desk, surrounded by stacks of reports.

Hiruzen looked up from his paperwork as Naruto entered. The boy's determined expression immediately caught his attention.

"Ah, Naruto," Hiruzen greeted warmly. "What brings you here today?"

Naruto bowed respectfully before speaking. "Hokage-sama, I want to request a grade skip in the academy."

The room fell silent for a moment, and Hiruzen studied the boy carefully. "A grade skip? That's quite the request, Naruto. Why do you think you're ready for such a step?"

Naruto's Argument

Naruto straightened, his confidence unwavering. "I've proven myself capable time and time again, Hokage-sama. My mastery of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and even my ability to lead on missions surpasses that of my peers. Yesterday's mission was completed without any mistakes. I believe my time would be better spent learning advanced skills rather than repeating basic lessons."

Hiruzen stroked his beard thoughtfully. "You make a compelling argument, Naruto. However, skipping grades isn't a decision taken lightly. You must understand that the academy curriculum is about more than just power. It also fosters teamwork, discipline, and leadership."

Naruto smirked. "And haven't I already shown that I'm a capable team leader? Even Satsuki and Hana acknowledge it."

Hiruzen chuckled. "That they do. But what about the emotional and psychological development that comes with training alongside your peers? Skipping grades might alienate you from others."

Naruto's expression softened. "With all due respect, Hokage-sama, I've never really been like my peers. I'm not looking for approval or companionship from everyone. I have my close circle, and they understand me. I want to grow stronger and serve the village better."

The Hokage's Test

Hiruzen leaned back in his chair, his gaze thoughtful. "Very well, Naruto. I won't dismiss your request outright. However, if you wish to skip grades, you'll need to prove your readiness through a special test. This will not be easy, even for someone of your abilities."

Naruto grinned, his confidence unwavering. "What kind of test?"

Hiruzen stood and walked to the window, looking out at the village. "You will complete an advanced mission—alone. This mission will test not only your strength but also your judgment, strategy, and ability to handle unexpected situations. If you succeed, I will personally approve your grade skip."

Naruto's eyes gleamed with determination. "I accept!"

Hiruzen nodded. "Very well. Report back here tomorrow morning for the details. Until then, prepare yourself."

The News Spreads

Word of Naruto's bold request spread quickly among the academy students. Satsuki and Hana confronted him during lunch that day.

"You're skipping grades?" Satsuki asked, her tone a mix of surprise and annoyance.

Naruto shrugged casually. "Why not? The academy's too slow for me. I'm ready for real challenges."

Hana crossed her arms. "You could have at least told us first. What if you fail? You'll look ridiculous."

Naruto smirked. "Fail? That's not in my vocabulary."

Satsuki narrowed her eyes. "If you succeed, I'll admit you're better than me. But until then, I'm not letting you off the hook in our rivalry."

Naruto chuckled. "Deal."

Mission Briefing

The next morning, Naruto stood before Hiruzen in the Hokage's office.

"This mission will involve infiltrating a small outpost used by rogue ninja on the outskirts of the Land of Fire. Your task is to gather intelligence on their operations and, if possible, eliminate their leader. This mission would normally be assigned to a chunin, so you'll need to exercise caution. Understood?"

Naruto nodded firmly. "Understood, Hokage-sama."

Hiruzen handed him a scroll containing additional details. "You have until sunset tomorrow to complete this mission. Remember, this isn't just about power. Use your mind as much as your strength."

Naruto smirked, taking the scroll. "I won't disappoint you."

The Journey Begins

Naruto left the village that afternoon, his mind focused on the task ahead. As he traversed the dense forest, he activated his Shinringan, scanning for chakra signatures.

Within hours, he reached the outpost, hidden deep within a rocky valley. A group of rogue shinobi stood guard, their chakra signatures faint but distinct.

"Time to get to work," Naruto muttered, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
