Chapter 31: **Chapter 31: Encounter with Jiraiya!**
After the sparring match, Reiki quickly healed his injuries, marveling at the power gap between him and a seasoned Jonin. Even with his skills, he realized he would need a few more aces up his sleeve to close that gap.
"Thanks for the spar, Brother Kawama. I've got a lot to work on," Reiki said with a wave as he disappeared in a flash with the teleportation technique.
Kawama blinked, a bit stunned that Reiki had left so abruptly. He couldn't help but smile, realizing Reiki was no ordinary medical ninja. Reiki's proficiency in taijutsu, ninjutsu, and swordsmanship was well beyond that of a typical peer. Kawama thought back to his own training at that age—if he'd sparred with someone like Reiki back then, he would've been on the losing end every time. It seemed Konoha had gained a remarkable new talent.

Later, at the Konoha hospital, Reiki and Shizune were busily working through their rounds, treating injured villagers and soldiers. Their efficiency left the other medical ninjas in awe, making some of them feel a bit embarrassed to see how naturally Reiki and Shizune handled things. When they learned the duo was fulfilling an assignment given by Tsunade, any complaints quickly dissipated.
Meanwhile, in the shadows, Danzo watched Reiki's every move with increasing interest. His mind churned with plans. Reiki was a rare talent—versatile and skilled beyond his years. Danzo hoped he could convince Reiki to join the Root division, where his abilities could be honed as a powerful asset.
Turning to his long-time ally, Danzo spoke, "Orochimaru, you're close with Tsunade. Think you could... persuade her?"
Orochimaru's golden eyes flashed, and he answered calmly, "If I try anything with Tsunade, she'll kill me."
Danzo frowned. Tsunade was formidable, not someone he could manipulate so easily. Orochimaru could see the frustration on Danzo's face but was more interested in his own plans. "Danzo-sama, about my… request…"
"Yes, it's ready," Danzo replied. "But be careful. We can't afford any disruptions now, especially with the upcoming Hokage election. Sarutobi is watching everything."
With Hatake Sakumo and Orochimaru as the frontrunners for the Hokage position, Danzo had his hands full ensuring his chosen candidate—Orochimaru—would come out on top.

After a long day at the hospital, Reiki learned that Tsunade had left the village for a few days. "Guess that means I'm on my own for meals," he muttered.
As Reiki prepared to unwind with a trip to the hot springs, he noticed the bathhouse attendant smiling as he approached. "Reiki, right? You're Brother Kawama's friend. It's on the house."
Reiki gratefully accepted the offer and sank into the warm water of the biggest bath. The soothing heat seeped through his tired muscles, and he closed his eyes, letting himself relax—until he sensed someone nearby.
Opening his eyes, Reiki noticed a sneaky figure at the edge of the bathhouse, notebook in hand, scribbling with intense concentration.
"Jiraiya-sensei?" Reiki said aloud.
Startled, Jiraiya fumbled, quickly hiding his notebook. He looked down at Reiki, flustered, which caught Reiki by surprise. This wasn't the confident, carefree Jiraiya he had heard stories about. Was this younger Jiraiya a bit more… bashful?
"I'm Tsunade's student, Reiki," he said. "And I'm a medical ninja." He paused, his expression serious. "Jiraiya-sama, this is not exactly… proper behavior. Maybe I should tell Tsunade-sensei."
Jiraiya paled. The thought of Tsunade finding out about his antics was terrifying; he knew she wouldn't hesitate to pummel him.
"Now, now, Reiki, there's no need for that! I'm Tsunade's teammate, remember? Don't you think… we could work something out?" Jiraiya stammered, quickly adopting a friendlier tone.
Reiki smirked. "Actually, there is something I need."
"Oh?" Jiraiya's curiosity was piqued.
"I want you to stay in the village for a while and help train our shinobi," Reiki explained. "In the last battle, a lot of them underestimated the enemy and hesitated in critical moments. They need someone strong, someone with experience, to train them."
Jiraiya scratched his head. "Training, huh? Reiki, most of the village's ninjas come from powerful clans. And the family power structure here in Konoha is… well, stubborn. They might not want to hear from someone outside their circle."
Reiki's expression didn't waver. "But you're a trusted disciple of the Hokage. If you asked for his support, he'd surely back you. We need you, Jiraiya-sama."
Jiraiya sighed, looking at Reiki's determined face. After a long moment, he smiled. "You really do take after Tsunade, don't you? Fine. I'll speak with the Hokage and see what I can do. But remember, you owe me for not tattling about… this." He motioned to his notebook with a wink.
Reiki chuckled, nodding in agreement. This encounter with Jiraiya was definitely worth the trouble, and he felt a new chapter was about to begin, with one of the legendary Sannin helping to shape the future of Konoha.
